Joey, Blythe dolls are still being produced to this day by the Good Smile Company, (formerly takara-tomy) since 2001, there are new releases almost every month. The original Kenner Blythes were only produced for one year, but modern Blythes still exist under a different company!
Oh good. Someone else said it too. I was confused when they said they were only made a year. I guess maybe they means the style of the 5 original Kenner ones? Hope Joey sees your comment and clarifies.
@@purplegothicqueen I own both Kenner and Takara/GSC blythes along with a few fakes for comparison. I'm not sure if you own any blythes but I've been a collector for a long time and I can attest officially produced blythes are very high quality, not just mass produced copies as you say. (The original 1972 blythes were also mass produced so I'm not sure why you say that, maybe you're confusing the current Takara/GSC blythes with the aliexpress fakes?)
The “I got rid of my dolls too early” to “I collect dolls as an adult” pipeline IS REAL!!! Omg! I also got rid of my dolls too soon and regretted it ever since. I had a HUGE collection of (somewhat rare) 90s Barbies and I gave them all away to my little cousins and I feel bad about it because I think I was pressured into giving them away, so that’s probably why I’m now chasing that high of having a huge bin of favorite Barbies when I was a little girl. 😭
Definitely! I felt like I had to stop playing with dolls around a certain age otherwise kids at school would pick on me. Luckily some of my Barbie's ended up in my parents attic, but the ones that aren't in there I've been looking for them on Ebay, some go for crazy money 😢
@@pinkchichan Right?!? Rebuilding my old collection would probably cost me thousands since I didn't get to keep any of my old dolls from my childhood. I found my favorite doll on EBay but I still haven't got her yet. Something makes me hesitant to start collecting childhood dolls because then I might just have to complete the collection haha

6:19 I hope Paris one day mentions the questionable quality of today's Barbie, if Mattel is already embarrassed that even a celebrity tells him that its quality has become terrible
Paris Hilton doesn't shock me at all, I watched Simple Life growing up and she seemed like a Barbie to me back then (I was just a kidso please don't judge me for that). Now I see as an adult she embodies what Barbie used to tell little girls "You can be anything".
As long as you are getting dolls to admire them, you are collecting. It may not be a huge collection for different reasons (just starting the hobby, lack of money, no interest or space for having a big collection, etc) but if you admire dolls and you have at least one doll to do that at home you are in my eyes a doll collector. Lets not gatekeep the hobby please🥰❤Love your videos as always❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍💕
I always think people are judging me for having dolls. Sometimes I hide them if certain people are coming over. I have pile them all in a box and put them in a closet. I will no longer do that. There is nothing wrong with loving dolls and like you said..HOW CAN YOU NOT WANT SOME DOLLS!!!?
My best friend and I played Barbies all through grade school in the 70s. We were so similar the way we played--making stories for them and not just brushing their hair and changing their clothes. We drifted apart the summer before jr. high. She was in a class of mine, and she was saying really strongly that she had packed up all her dolls and had GROWN UP! I was so embarrassed cause I hadn't. Since they stopped being made 4 years ago I’ve toyed with the idea of recreating my childhood collection. I’ve found everything (and there’s a LOT since my doll playing years spanned the 70s and 80s, from The Sunshine Family, to Barbie, to The Heart Family. I’m still keeping an eye out for a good condition Barbie mobile home (the late 70s/early 80s yellow, massive version), just in case the Silkstone reboot doesn’t last
Joey- Thanks for sharing this video. I did not know sooo many celebrities collect dolls also. It is good to know many of us are still "children at heart".
I have all the silkstones save a few and I have that house that trixie has with three corvettes and a VW cabriolet. My house is completely furnished and complete with all the boxes but its upstairs in my bedroom. I love all 70-80’s barbies that is my jam!
Demi Moore"s antique doll collection is fantastic! Those are works of art, and anyone who believes that inanimate objects are haunted is a ridiculous fool. I have over 2.000 dolls, and haven't seen one yet!
People with comic book and other collections get them insured. You never know. Especially unexpected weather or fires. Also I love Madame Alexander dolls. I have on the way.
Regarding outgrowing toys...it´s funny because I never officially did (I´ve always kept in touch with cartoons and stuff; always a kid) but there was a moment in my life where I stopped buying (teens and early adult). And my family NEVER said anything against it. In fact, my mother would go out and call me to tell me that there are action figures out there I might be interested in. That being said, I know "somehow for a fact" that my grandmother did get rid of my entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection. And I know because I loved those figures. Never would have gotten rid of them and, suddenly, they were no more. And one time, talking to her, she told me she got rid of my mother´s special plush toy (that she didn´t know what happened to it). So, doing the math: if I wouldn´t get rid of my figures and my mother wouldn´t that only left her. ...every now and then I remember it and feel sad yet I love my grandmother and would never be upset with her. Besides, I´m sollecting in the present so that´s a thing.
Yes Blythe dolls!! Please make a full video on these gorgeous dolls ❤️ As I’m obsessed, other big eyed amercian dolls like whimsie, susie sad eyes, little miss no name ect xxx
Hi, I liked that opinion about the reason why some adults do like collecting dolls can be they had to rid of their toys too early or just like them as interior decor. I had maturing issues since childhood (I was very sick as a first grader and was getting toys as gifts to help me get through the cure) and still was stick to child things while my friends were maturing. But found out I still like collector Barbies even as an adult, as a decor. What I love the most is my man who has accompany me in this hobby, made super nice shelf and now we have our collection together :3 only Issue is I have to watch myself to don't spend too much money for the dolls
Emma’s excitement is very the dolls is such a mood lol. I never fully grew out of dolls, but I definitely tried to get rid of them a few times because I “wanted to grow up”. Funny how these things work around. 🤣 I LOVEEE that Miley, Demi and Brit Brit are one of us.
I feel like if ur interested in dolls young u will always b open 2 being interested in them. I wasn’t able 2 have dolls cuz of gender expectations & being poor. I can now have the childhood I didn’t have. But also I am so interested in art & fashion. Dolls r the embodiment of all forms of visual art.
Ashton Drake made reproduction Blythe dolls and they are spot on. I'll never forget when my dad brought home a box of used toys for boys and girls in the 70s given to him from his friend. I was the only girl and I got the Blythe doll in great condition. As I got older I felt I was too grown up for dolls and gave them all to my cousin. I regret it to this day and want them all back especially my Blythe doll. I am a Barbie and doll collector and haven't been able to find an original Blythe at a good price.
This is really fascinating. My doll collection is in storage, all except for like 4 being my one silkstone, a Disney doll, a custom mermaid doll I made, and my 1959 reproduction Barbie.
Babes Takara has been making Blythes since 2001 😂 Still expensive and aimed at collectors, but not nearly as expensive as the OG Kenners from the 70’s.
@@buchichu7034 He's a guy on TH-cam, not a doll professor. Give him a break. Also he's correct; the original Blythe dolls were only produced for one year. It's not surprising he doesn't know that Blythe are being reproduced now, as they're not exactly the most common dolls and to get a real reproduction Blythe you have to either get them shipped from Japan or spend nearly a thousand dollars to get a customised one from Etsy.
Dolls are also used in studios for artists who draw comics or make accurate dioramas. When the person actively seeks releases that are not inside stores anymore that becomes a personal mission. If the idea of owned dolls getting sent to thrifts or charities is something that bothers you it’s turning into a different mentality
I collect Minnie Mouse plushies now because growing up, we couldn't afford them. I always wanted and been in love with Disney and Minnie Mouse in general and always wanted a Disney plush to call my own. So now i have loads and i love them all. I wonder if Miley has her own Barbie aka Hannah Montana.
Sweetheart, Blythe is already back since 2001🙂, she has a massive fan base and so so many artists make OOAK versions of her! Explore her world!! 🤗🩷 You will love it! 🌸

The head on his staff was a taeyang wich is by the same brand as the Pullip. (Not sure wich taeyang it was tho 😢)
It is really cool learning about celebrities who collect dolls. It makes them more relatable in a way that I can't quite explain. Something I miss though is when you could purchase playsets without having to get the doll it comes with. A good example is the new Touch of Magic Pegasus. The horse comes with accessories but not a doll in sight. This is great when you have dolls but want a horse for the doll already in your collection. Have a wonderful day!.
I knew Miley was a doll collector! She had her my size Barbie in “We can’t stop” and there’s a picture of her where her dashboard is covered in 90’s Barbies ❤
That live stream with Miley and Trixie was so fun! And I love both Johnny Depp ans John Barrowman. Love that they collect. (I'm a huge Dr. Who fan in the US)
Barbra Streisand also collects dolls, I just don't know if they are porcelain dolls or antique dolls, i do remember that Celine Dion gave one doll to Barbra as a pressent because she collects dolls.
@@BeautyInsideABox i would love a part II of this video with more celebrities that are collectors. 😊 Awesome idea btw. I saw the AD episode with Emma and thought this hobby got now mainstream??? Thanks for this video! This is awesome. My best memories are with my dolls from about age 8-11. I held on to some special pieces and dolls. Thanks to my parents for encouraging me to. I am from the MK & Ashley/Britney S/original Bratz era. I have found myself collecting pretty heavily again from those years. I tired collecting Monster High and Rainbow High. But since I didn’t grow up with it, I found myself not connecting with them shortly after purchase. I found that really interesting. I donated them all without any regrets. So my collecting is very nostalgia based.

I have all the silkstones save a few and I have that house that trixie has with three corvettes and a VW cabriolet. My house is completely furnished and complete with all the boxes but its upstairs in my bedroom. I love all 70-80’s barbies that is my jam!
It doesn't matter what type of hobby you enjoy, its the fact that you luv it
Demi Moore"s antique doll collection is fantastic! Those are works of art, and anyone who believes that inanimate objects are haunted is a ridiculous fool. I have over 2.000 dolls, and haven't seen one yet!
The Debbie Jellinsky reference 🤣🤣🤣
Loved the video. Anne Rice was one and Barbra Streisand is now. Marie Osmond, and Richard Simmons collected dolls and designed them.
I know Paris is also a hello Kitty major fan
captain jacks a doll collector too?? my doctor who heart is screaming
I'm pretty sure Paris Hilton also collects rh which is why she got a rh doll 😂
Yes Blythe dolls!! Please make a full video on these gorgeous dolls ❤️ As I’m obsessed, other big eyed amercian dolls like whimsie, susie sad eyes, little miss no name ect xxx
I don't think there's a Chanel Barbie. The one Paris has is the BFMC Preferably Pink Silkstone Barbie.
This is why I love Emma Roberts. People say she has a bad attitude but I just relate to her so much
I love that celebrities collect dolls as we do ❤❤❤❤
Nice nod to 'The Addams Family Values' 👍
This was great to see these celebrities just like us. Thank you for this video
I also have A LOT of dolls. Now that my kids are grown and gone I can fill their old rooms with dolls. WAHOO
Emma’s excitement is very the dolls is such a mood lol. I never fully grew out of dolls, but I definitely tried to get rid of them a few times because I “wanted to grow up”. Funny how these things work around. 🤣 I LOVEEE that Miley, Demi and Brit Brit are one of us.
its so nice collecting dolls cuz they are awsome
I feel like if ur interested in dolls young u will always b open 2 being interested in them. I wasn’t able 2 have dolls cuz of gender expectations & being poor. I can now have the childhood I didn’t have. But also I am so interested in art & fashion. Dolls r the embodiment of all forms of visual art.
Paris Hilton would have been great for the Barbie movie ❤
playing drunk cowgirl barbie
I know right?! I’m sad now they didn’t invite her to be in it, even just for a split second cameo 🥺
How can you miss the woman that famously has a Doll Room, Candy Spelling?!
Blythe dolls are still being made and sold! 💖
They still make blythe but they are mostly made for the Japan market niw by takara tomy as adult collector dolls
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who collects dolls.
The only one I know that collects dolls is Johnny Depp.
Blythes are still released to this day gurl..
I want the Johnny Depp Pirates of the Caribbean doll🙈
Many you mentioned are some of my favorite celebrities! So happy to hear they like dolls too. ❤❤❤
I had a Blythe doll in 1972 when I was young I was 7 years old
Babes Takara has been making Blythes since 2001 😂 Still expensive and aimed at collectors, but not nearly as expensive as the OG Kenners from the 70’s.
kpop singer momo from twice has a barbie collection too!!
She does?! I love momo!
Blythe are still produced tho 😅
Right? I thought he knew his stuff but everyone knows this?
And isn't it pronounced with a "th" like "in "this and the" sound?
@@buchichu7034 He's a guy on TH-cam, not a doll professor. Give him a break. Also he's correct; the original Blythe dolls were only produced for one year. It's not surprising he doesn't know that Blythe are being reproduced now, as they're not exactly the most common dolls and to get a real reproduction Blythe you have to either get them shipped from Japan or spend nearly a thousand dollars to get a customised one from Etsy.
@@laureencriss8220 He has a lisp ... let's not make fun of that.
I was looking to see if someone brought this up!! LOL maybe he means the Hasbro produced ones?
Kirsten Dunst might be a collector as well.
I feel like I heard Kimora Lee Simmons collected dolls? I know Mattel made a really cute Barbie of her
Dolls are also used in studios for artists who draw comics or make accurate dioramas. When the person actively seeks releases that are not inside stores anymore that becomes a personal mission. If the idea of owned dolls getting sent to thrifts or charities is something that bothers you it’s turning into a different mentality
heidi is the coolest
I collect Minnie Mouse plushies now because growing up, we couldn't afford them. I always wanted and been in love with Disney and Minnie Mouse in general and always wanted a Disney plush to call my own. So now i have loads and i love them all.
I wonder if Miley has her own Barbie aka Hannah Montana.
I wonder if Emma liked the idea of being made into a doll in coven.
Sweetheart, Blythe is already back since 2001🙂, she has a massive fan base and so so many artists make OOAK versions of her! Explore her world!! 🤗🩷 You will love it! 🌸
Thank you for understanding who is a "wife beater" by UK law and calling him "controversial". I'm tired of unfollowing & blocking people who aren't able to do good research on the topic and easily manipulated by misinformation
He's not very liked in the UK.
He was the victim of DV .
I still remember when i started collecting groove pullip dolls i was screaming when i saw a prunella pullip in hannah montana❤ also in big bang theroy when howard was dresses as a jester. The head on his staff was a taeyang wich is by the same brand as the Pullip. (Not sure wich taeyang it was tho 😢)
This was such a fun video! Thanks for doing the research!
i have the doll britney showed rosie!! she did go on to sell them in limited numbers, i have number 22!
Emma's Roberts dolls are so cute, all of them ౨ৎ ☺️
I knew Miley was a doll collector! She had her my size Barbie in “We can’t stop” and there’s a picture of her where her dashboard is covered in 90’s Barbies ❤
the dolls have made it! they were kinda lumped together but any press is good press as they say
Omg I wish I’d known that before making this video! She has a whole doll shop in her house 😵
@@BeautyInsideABox Yes she has indeed a whole doll shop i think that's very beautiful made.
@@BeautyInsideABox i would love a part II of this video with more celebrities that are collectors. 😊 Awesome idea btw. I saw the AD episode with Emma and thought this hobby got now mainstream??? But it seems that a lot of celebrities who have been collecting dolls for some time are more open to show & talk about it now.
Ok I’m confused because in Tokyo they totally re issue Blythe dolls. There are stores that sell nothing but new Blythe dolls
Joey. I had the original Blythe doll but her hair was a mess and I did not keep her. YES I wish I still had her.
I still have all my barbie type dolls will never get rid of them
I really enjoyed your video. I had no idea that Emma Roberts is a doll collector.
Marie Osmond collects dolls as well. She also had her own doll line for several years. I used to own several dolls from her line. I had to downsize due to space.
Ray Liotta and one of his wives collected Annette Himstedt. Large, realistic dolls. I prefer fashion model size.
I love to sew the little clothes
Omg I didn't know Britney was a collector. Now i understand why she had pacifiers and baby stuff around... people were going crazy speculating 😂
I got this doll for Christmas when it first came out. I didn’t know about any controversy and I thought she was super cool! People today are so easily offended by everything.
Mariah Carey mentioned she's a doll collector as well as she collects Barbie superstar era I'm not mistaken.
Loved this video, Joey!
And, BTW you're looking so handsome with your new hair cut.
💜
