I was scammed by this Korean who live in the UK and asked me to talk to Telegram. And we video chat twice and blurry and his accent is not Korean kinna African I was so stupid!!!

I just wanted to add: even if you do meet in person and develop a long (I’m saying a few years here) relationship, make sure you can meet their parents/family members/friends-especially if they’re promising a future with you. Some people out there are ruthless.
Oh my god everything you said is actually true! I recently start using dating apps and one good looking 'Korean' guy liked my profile. He was handsome, rich and educated and I knew its too good to be true but I decided to give it a try because who knew right? And it happened exactly like you said, he immediately said he fall in love with me and didnt care abt how i look.. He was saying on and on abt living together and getting married asap and it was super uncomfortable. The first red flag is that i noticed his Whatsapp number used the same country code as i am eventhough he claimed he is currently in the US and lived there for 12 years. The first time we voice call it was really weird as he is not even fluent in English and when i didnt hear clearly what he says, he repeat it but i can feel his annoyed tone. The biggest red flag which exposes everything is he mentioned that he wants to send me flowers but he asked me if i already got the flowers, on the same day he said he wanted to buy and post it and he didnt even ask for my address, which makes it very clear that i am a scam victim and i bet he was confused with me and his other victims. The sympathy part is also there. On our 2nd voice call, he said he just got news that his sister got breast cancer so i bet later on he will make some excuse that causes me to pay him money or something. I did some research especially the pictures he sent me and i found out abt the dating scam. I confronted him abt it and now he didnt text me anymore. Thank god i havent given him any money or account details. I tell you these people are very shameless and it makes me feel traumatic to try online dating. I guess i will just find someone when the time is right. Just be careful with the people you found online. If you think its too good to be true then its probably a scam.
Last month someone on tiktok was messaging my mom, she showed me the interaction and this person claimed to be from Korea, this seemed really sketchy for me and I understood really quickly that they were trying to scam my mom, and that this was the typical romance scam... Be careful out there.

They will tell they were a korean living in US, working in airport, famous model, but when you talked to them their accent is not american accent for someone who is living in US since childhood, they should adopt the accent if they grew up from there. You can distinguish his korean accent.
Thank you! I just signed up last week on Korean Dating App and a guy requested me. His contact was through WhatsApp only. He said he was Malaysian who resides in Canada. He had a thick Asian accent. He would call me but no video chats as I would request. So after a few days I knew he was a scammer and blocked him.
I appreciate this. I got scammed so bad out of a lot of money by an "oppa" and it was easy because I was at a very low point in my life. So, now when I meet someone, if they tell me certain things they do, I don't believe them and everyone has a sob story. I literally don't believe anyone that I meet online anymore if you can't video chat or you have too many red flags.

I have also experienced something like what happened to you. I knew the man online, he claimed to be a Korean oppa and lived in the USA working as a CEO of a large company. After getting a lot of personal information. And we got to know each other. Until one day he wanted to send goods to me, and asked me to pay tax money. And I didn't want to pay, actually refused the goods. He got angry with me and disappeared from my social media. And I think it was indeed a scammer, if in the end it was money.
That just happened to me on Instagram. But I was smart and did my homework on him. For one, they always start off my Hi "My Dear". They took photos from a famous Chinese, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon claiming he was Korean livingin the US San Francisco working in Gold and Silver Exporter. Couldn't speak Korean because he was adopted when he was 5 to the US, but his English was whack/bad! Did a reverse photo on google to find out who the pics belonged to. And the job site photos were nothing where he worked. I confronted him with his fake profile, blocked and reported him.

100 percent not real I'm trully sorry. My wife is going through this right now, but it's £1500 she is speaking to kim namjong and the red flags for me came straight away I did my research and with bts specifically they signed an agreement with there management company that specifies they cannot have social media accounts. The only accounts they have are on jnstagram which they don't message anyone or weverse. It's heart wrenching for me as I'm seeing my wife disappear before my eyes for this fake we been happily married for 14 years
LMAO! This is on point. A couple of years ago when I started learning Korean, I came across so many scammers on language exchange apps. Most of them had the same back story, they were overseas Koreans, raised in the UK/USA and now in military, wife died tragically and has a kid who lives with their mother in the UK. I knew right away they are scammers because their English was so poor for someone who was raised in an English speaking country.

The most common types of REAL Korean men you meet online are 1) Students 2) Middle aged chain-smoking factory workers. I think it's rare that you'll meet people more exciting than that so anyone claiming to be an idol or working for a big company is probably lying

Or they won’t outright ask you for money, but they will ask for a meeting and the meeting will cost so much money and you have to pay their agency. And if you can’t pay that full amount, then their “ family or friends will pay for part of it” to make you feel like you’re not having to pay for everything. so when you mentioned something about them, asking you for money, they will say I never asked you for money. I never forced you or held a gun to your head to pay the money you paid.

Thanks for doing this awareness. I got to know about money get back when i encountered a scam.Recovery is not always easy but with the right source it is definitely achievable. It takes about 4/5 days to complete the process, sometimes it depends on how fast your agent is, for me it was the *GrindTechiei* and it only took 2 days to complete and my money was back to my bank, because I deleted my wallet during the whole scenario as I don’t want anything to do with crypto anymore😢😢):

I've got a message from a "Korean" stranger in Instagram about us being friends. Few days later his asking my personal info, so that he could send his "gifts" for me. TF is that?! Too good to be true. I wittingly did not fall for it, and eventually found out it is a new scheme of scam; romance scam. 🤪
Omg that reminded me one of many scammer’s that try this out with me 😅 I was like maaannn that’s so funny. Profile (in IG) was everything about medical stuff and he was surgeon (apparently). I was like damn another scammer but I was so bored that I played along 😅 so the long story short even though he is a surgeon he needed money to borrow and said that he would return the money “tomorrow “. Like woah man in our country most of us we can smell the scammers from far away. Thank you Jina for sharing this information and I hope no one gets hurt from these scammers. Not only woman but also men. We all are equal in this situation. One more thing to add. The scammers profile pictures and stories and stuff will be quite a lot but the thing is the dates under the posts will be recent and added at the same day. That’s also a sign it’s a fake.
Hi Jina, I missed this type of video from you. It was informative even though these scanners pretend to be of all nationalities. I had scanners say they were Korean, Japanese, Italian, French and Chinese, Nigeria and South Africa. All said they were in one of those characters you mentioned. I think it was one person who pretended to be these different men over the course of 3 years trying to get my money. They had different occupation but the same script. wow! this is real, isnt it?? last year i responded to my idol's IG pic. day later someone with another address said, 'hey i just want to appreciate my good fans (so i'm talking to you directly)". at first, i was so excited. but then i looked @ who "he" was following.. no one korean. not one super fan who follows XX on IG. so i became very suspicious, asked "him" twice - questions written in basic korean. same english response from the "guy". by now, it's obvious. .. guy only writes in eng. so i confronted him. "u are not 'xx'.. u didn't not reply in korean... u can't be him. stop playing games with the minds of true fans.. XX would never be so mean not to answer in korean/english. stop giving him a bad image.." i blocked 'him', & a day later this IG account was gone from the search. I was so mad! Luckily i'm older than my idol, & know about scamming. But it doesn't mean i wasn't 'hurt' by the experience.

I think I am being scammed but I'm not sure. The IG page isn't bad its suppose to be a fan page that was just created. The guy asked me to go on signal to talk. I have friends in China so I was ok with doing so. If he had said whats app i would have said no. Anyway we video chatted on IG and Signal both time the video chat was weird. The first I could hear him that well the music was really loud. The second time he should be his bedroom and the view from his balcony but I couldnt understand his english. He texts so well in english which doesn't make since.
I can relate to everything you are saying! This guy impersonating as a rich and handsome orphaned korean added me on Instagram and started chatting with me. He expressed his feelings to me so fast..and I sort of fell for him. Then he goes for a business trip to Turkey where he works at see and is unable to make payment to the vendors. He asks me to do it, somewhat forcibly because he used these words "Baby, you have to try your best for me". I knew from that moment that he was a scammer and while it was heartbreaking, I blocked him immediately. I read many news articles about how lonely and vulnerable women are victims to scammers...

If they talk about money at all. There is a scam where they send you money then you send it back and that laundered the money. Plus they could get your account info and empty your account. This is a money mule scam.

My situation and its solutions may not necessarily apply, but you need to have hard proof and definitely an intervention. You need to be firm and unshaking that this stops here and now.

U can tell people and warn them, many are naive and will continue being scammed , even tough u warn them. One more thing, Jina. U seem to read comments within first 30 minutes. I saw and heard that people really meets their Soulmates online, like even getting married after long distance relationships.. But honestly I never understood how it really works? My stepfather was scammed out of 6 grand thinking his grandson was in jail. He had a bad heart and when he found out he was scammed, it literally killed him😭. After he died my mom had to pay his credit card back. It devastated her, all of us
I had a few scammers who wrote me that they are Korean on Insta. I was not the one who actually wrote them first. They just thought they could make me pay them money because I posted I was single 😂. One even talked to me on the phone via WhatsApp (and I know Koreans do not likely chat on WhatsApp). But he somehow sounded Asian. He told me he lived in London 😅 & wanted to get married asap. He told me he would buy me a ring from Cartier. Like OMG what?! (I only knew about this high class brand because of Koreans) I understood that he wanted my bank account & I started playing with him. He kinda was sweet but understood he can't have my money. So we parted kindly 😂😂 (I had some entertainment! Thank you for entertaining me.) I hope no one will fall for such bad prank!!! They took photos from a famous Chinese, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon claiming he was Korean livingin the US San Francisco working in Gold and Silver Exporter. Couldn't speak Korean because he was adopted when he was 5 to the US, but his English was whack/bad! Did a reverse photo on google to find out who the pics belonged to. And the job site photos were nothing where he worked. I confronted him with his fake profile, blocked and reported him.

100 percent not real I'm trully sorry. My wife is going through this right now, but it's £1500 she is speaking to kim namjong and the red flags for me came straight away I did my research and with bts specifically they signed an agreement with there management company that specifies they cannot have social media accounts. The only accounts they have are on jnstagram which they don't message anyone or weverse. It's heart wrenching for me as I'm seeing my wife disappear before my eyes for this fake we been happily married for 14 years
LMAO! This is on point. A couple of years ago when I started learning Korean, I came across so many scammers on language exchange apps. Most of them had the same back story, they were overseas Koreans, raised in the UK/USA and now in military, wife died tragically and has a kid who lives with their mother in the UK. I knew right away they are scammers because their English was so poor for someone who was raised in an English speaking country.
And guess what their name was Joon or Kim .... omg you also went through this same people all the same African from Ivory Coast .... so bad ...

I experienced a lot of romance scam when I start loving BTS. There are also a lot of scammers in Kakao Talk too. Luckily, i havent sent any money to them yet. However, you will still feel sad about it because scammers are playing our emotions.

Or they won’t outright ask you for money, but they will ask for a meeting and the meeting will cost so much money and you have to pay their agency. And if you can’t pay that full amount, then their “ family or friends will pay for part of it” to make you feel like you’re not having to pay for everything. so when you mentioned something about them, asking you for money, they will say I never asked you for money. I never forced you or held a gun to your head to pay the money you paid.

Thanks for doing this awareness. I got to know about money get back when i encountered a scam.Recovery is not always easy but with the right source it is definitely achievable. It takes about 4/5 days to complete the process, sometimes it depends on how fast your agent is, for me it was the *GrindTechiei* and it only took 2 days to complete and my money was back to my bank, because I deleted my wallet during the whole scenario as I don’t want anything to do with crypto anymore😢😢):

I've got a message from a "Korean" stranger in Instagram about us being friends. Few days later his asking my personal info, so that he could send his "gifts" for me. TF is that?! Omg that reminded me one of many scammer’s that try this out with me 😅 I was like maaannn that’s so funny. Profile (in IG) was everything about medical stuff and he was surgeon (apparently). I was like damn another scammer but I was so bored that I played along 😅 so the long story short even though he is a surgeon he needed money to borrow and said that he would return the money “tomorrow “. Like woah man in our country most of us we can smell the scammers from far away.

One more thing to add. The scammers profile pictures and stories and stuff will be quite a lot but the thing is the dates under the posts will be recent and added at the same day. That’s also a sign it’s a fake.

Hi Jina, I missed this type of video from you. It was informative even though these scanners pretend to be of all nationalities. I had scanners say they were Korean, Japanese, Italian, French and Chinese, Nigeria and South Africa. All said they were in one of those characters you mentioned. I think it was one person who pretended to be these different men over the course of 3 years trying to get my money. They had different occupation but the same script.

wow! this is real, isnt it?? last year i responded to my idol's IG pic. day later someone with another address said, 'hey i just want to appreciate my good fans (so i'm talking to you directly)". at first, i was so excited. but then i looked @ who "he" was following.. no one korean. not one super fan who follows XX on IG. so i became very suspicious, asked "him" twice - questions written in basic korean. same english response from the "guy". by now, it's obvious. .. guy only writes in eng. so i confronted him. "u are not 'xx'.. u didn't not reply in korean... u can't be him. stop playing games with the minds of true fans.. XX would never be so mean not to answer in korean/english. stop giving him a bad image.." i blocked 'him', & a day later this IG account was gone from the search. I was so mad! Luckily i'm older than my idol, & know about scamming. But it doesn't mean i wasn't 'hurt' by the experience.
Same thing happened with me. I like all the photos of Im Si Wan and a scammer invited me on his Line account and exact same thing happened when I liked all photos of Lee JOng Won this time he added me on Hangout...LJW's imposter told me that his manager raped a minor in his property and the mother of the victim is going to reveal everything on the media...His manager stole all his money and eloped SK ....bla bla bla so now he needs money to pay fine for the lawsuit charged against him....one heck of a story I must say...

I think I am being scammed but I'm not sure. The IG page isn't bad its suppose to be a fan page that was just created. The guy asked me to go on signal to talk. I have friends in China so I was ok with doing so. If he had said whats app i would have said no. Anyway we video chatted on IG and Signal both time the video chat was weird. The first I could hear him that well the music was really loud. The second time he should be his bedroom and the view from his balcony but I couldnt understand his english. He texts so well in english which doesn't make since.

This guy impersonating as a rich and handsome orphaned korean added me on Instagram and started chatting with me. He expressed his feelings to me so fast..and I sort of fell for him. Then he goes for a business trip to Turkey where he works at see and is unable to make payment to the vendors. He asks me to do it, somewhat forcibly because he used these words "Baby, you have to try your best for me". I knew from that moment that he was a scammer and while it was heartbreaking, I blocked him immediately. I read many news articles about how lonely and vulnerable women are victims to scammers...

If they talk about money at all. There is a scam where they send you money then you send it back and that laundered the money. Plus they could get your account info and empty your account. This is a money mule scam.

A family member is going through this nonsense right now, thinking she's talking to k-pop celebrities and she's given them money. It's driving me up a wall because everyone real in her life knows it's fake and we're trying to prevent something awful from happening, but it's like she doesn't want to listen. My situation and its solutions may not necessarily apply, but you need to have hard proof and definitely an intervention. You need to be firm and unshaking that this stops here and now.

This video is so informative . But, one has to use deductive and inductive reasoning. On Social media one can put a photo of any famous handsome actor and claim to be the one. U can tell people and warn them, many are naive and will continue being scammed , even tough u warn them. One more thing, Jina. U seem to read comments within first 30 minutes. Please give a chance ,give more time for people to comment and respond to them. Some of us are in the different time zones. by the time we ad our comment,seems like u are done and never come back to read more .

I saw and heard that people really meets their Soulmates online, like even getting married after long distance relationships.. But honestly I never understood how it really works? My stepfather was scammed out of 6 grand thinking his grandson was in jail. He had a bad heart and when he found out he was scammed, it literally killed him😭. After he died my mom had to pay his credit card back. It devastated her, all of us

I had a few scammers who wrote me that they are Korean on Insta. I was not the one who actually wrote them first. They just thought they could make me pay them money because I posted I was single 😂. One even talked to me on the phone via WhatsApp (and I know Koreans do not likely chat on WhatsApp). But he somehow sounded Asian. He told me he lived in London 😅 & wanted to get married asap. He told me he would buy me a ring from Cartier. Like OMG what?! (I only knew about this high class brand because of Koreans) I understood that he wanted my bank account & I started playing with him. He kinda was sweet but understood he can't have my money. So we parted kindly 😂😂 (I had some entertainment! Thank you for entertaining me.) I hope no one will fall for such bad prank!!! Don't dream too crazy, life ain't no joke.
