At the beginning of the game, i was like Kate you are SO precious. I did everything i could to protect her because i adored her and everybody treated her like shit. And then she jumped, and i actually cried for like, 10 minutes.
Brendon G That's three of us who have a good heart. God! That poor girl. There aren't many ways worse to ruin someone's life than with the internet, but Kate DOES NOT deserve that. Nobody does!
I think what makes this so heartbreaking is that this happens SO often, its really good they in cooperated such a sensitive topic into a game, its a good way to raise awareness and make people think before they think.

I didn't save Kate on my first playthrough and was absolutely crushed when she died. That, along with the song at the end, damn near brought tears to my eyes. I saved her on my second playthrough so I can't wait to see how episode 3 plays out with Kate being alive and dead. This game is beautiful and really has a way of making you feel connected to the characters.
Chloe is still bae, though.
***** I admit, wasn't as impressed with this game after the first episode. But that part about Kate being in real danger, with no available time reversal powers to save her if you messed up, really put me on the edge of my seat like, "Oh, please don't let her die. Please don't let her die!"

Bluesapira Hemmelig Yeah, that was the great thing about Kate's part in episode two. This time, you can't rewind. Kate's in danger and you can't rely on your powers this time. In my opinion, this one event actually saved the game, in my eyes. The choices that are most meaningful are the ones you can't take back and it's nice to see of little of that theme in a game that's the next best thing to Prince of Persia. But...that's just an opinion. Not everybody loves Prince of Persia as much as me. I get that.

I replayed the entire episode to save her
3:21-3:27. An awesome response for when someone thinks "everybody" hates them. For such a shy, introverted girl, Max sure has a way with thinking on her feet on what exactly to say and when to say it. The player has to guide her to do it right of course, but still....Max does an impressive job when she does it. Two thumbs up!
Yeah, it was so beautiful that she said that and it made me think of a time when I've felt that way about myself too, this game is really awesome
Same opinion. I really think that this scene is very well thought-of, even if many who commented this video think that it's unrealistic. I believe, it's natural if the person who wants to commit suicide frequently changes his/her mind, because of overwhelming stress. By the way, this scene genuinely brought me to tears, even though I saved Kate. But hell, it was so emotionally strong that I burst to tears and I couldn't do anything about it. Very powerful scene.

Just moments ago Max was experiencing extreme anxiety about being put on the spot and didn't want to finish and present a project out of fear of embarrassment from rejection and judgement.
A moment later she steps up and commits to an action. She may not have turned in her _Everyday Heroes_ assignment due to feeling inadequate and inferior. She second guesses herself and her rewind ability manifests that more. But when a friend was in need she decisively involves herself and without second guessing or do overs she became the everyday hero.

What was David doing while Max and Kate were talking? You can clearly see him running towards the door when Max frezees time, but he never bothered to show up while Kate and Max were having a talk of, like, 5 minutes atleast. Did he forgot his jacket or something like that and decided to go after it?

Totally unrelated to Kate's death, but did anyone eerily love the part where you're playing as Max, and time is frozen? When you're getting to the door to the roof. Just the colors that flash, the music, seeing the frozen expressions of the crowd and seeing David running towards the door. Just that part, man, it puts it above Telltale's best moments for me, I have to say.

Kitten Puffs Even though I don't like what Jack did, I'm glad he stuck with it and didn't let anyone change his decisions. I had to pause the video because I cried for about five minutes. If you don't like what Jack did you can always play the game yourself, which I can't yet.
The whole talking Kate down from killing herself was one of my favorite scenes , it had so much emotion behind it and really made you think.

I like kate but I feel like her death is more effective here it shows that sometimes you cant save everyone and people with powers like max just have to accept that sometimes.

I convinced my boyfriend to play this after I completed it twice (saved Kate both times). Once he realised you couldn't rewind this bit. He called me over and so i could tell him the rights answers. He didn't want to risk it haha
It will always disgust me how accurate people watching/recording her death instead of helping is.

I just spent an hour looking for a single walkthrough video in which Max saves Kate from committing suicide. So far, yours is the only one I found. It gave me some peace, seeing that it was possible to save her. So, thank you. There is always hope.
If you read her letters and talk to her, you will know, that her parrents hate her, she does not have brothers, and her sisters like her.
Her mother* hates her. The correct choice is either her father or sisters. And then select the youngest sister.
Her father doesn't hate her at all, it's just the vindictive self-righteous bitches in her life that do.
Her sisters like her? What does THAT mean?

Oh my god I'm so glad this exists, I was so sad to see Kate die, I saw it from the beginning that she needed more care! :-( Im so so so glad she's alive, I don't know how they can write two seperate games from here on out with a character in and out of both options of each game path. So I hope they don't kill her off regardless

I think the fact that Kate lives is the End of the many choices to help her. For example you delete the mean sentences on Kate's dorm shield or the Link to the Video in the bathroom. And i tell her before that she should go to the police and that I would be here for her and help her. And at last I choose the option with the sister.
*Damn this Scene was so Intense!* but I am super glade I could save her otherwise I would never forgiven myself T^T

The way they structured this scene is aggravating. After all the things you say to which Kate responds, "It means a lot." and such, and even when she says, "But I'll come with you...", why would she immediately follow up by saying "No... Nobody cares about me." I mean was she even listening that whole time?! How is it not apparent by that point that Max cares about her? Very unrealistic.
I hate how, even after you do everything to be nice to Kate, whether or not she jumps comes down to ONE dialogue option, about her family. The part of her life about which we are the LEAST informed? Really?!

In the beginning of the episode, her room had plenty of information about her family and her relationship with family members! It's pretty memorable, especially the dad's letter and a photo with her sisters.
Still, after everything Max did for Kate here, it shouldn't even come down to that.

I see other people play this scene in the game were they stand up for Kate, answer her phone call, and erase the bad things people write about her, yet they still can't save her! So if this player can do it, anyone else can too!

Ah, good old telltale, making the "wrong" choices (ie ignore her call and don't intervene for Kate) the only way to get the ending you actually want without a clue until it's way too late to go back.

Poor Kate, she was a sweet girl and I'm glad you could save her. I like her and Dana lot. They both could've lazily been written as self-righteous and vapid as these archetypes often are, respectively, but they're both kind and I'm glad Kate can turn out okay. :')
Kate Marsh really strikes a cord with me, mainly because in a lot of ways the story they are telling with her has a lot of similarities with my own life growing up. I had a feeling from the moment that first paper wad was thrown at her in the class room that something like this was coming. What makes me the happiest about this game though, is that it isn't some grand act or over the top thing that saves her, it's the little things that you do for her through-out your gameplay. Answering her call, erasing the crap on her board, erasing the video link, standing up for her to Madison. So many small things and yet it's those things that saves lives, it's those things that saved mine.

Dev should brings Max back to 60s so she could use her power to save Marilyn Monroe or JFK.
After I couldn't save Kate, I didn't cry. Instead, my heart skipped a couple of beats, that I thought I was dead for a moment.
This Kates face expression is no near being suicidal; it looks more she had a violent pollen reaction and are just about to stumble down the roof due to blindness.
Well she's been crying like crazy, crying can make you look like you have some type of allergic reaction.
my point was; for such an incredible game as it truly is, the face mimic/emotional animation are terrible, really terrible done. Otherwise the game has the best character development and music theme I've encounter so far.
SuburbAllied Thing is, making believable facial animations is VERY hard and expensive.
Take L.A. Noire for instance, it's a good game with outstanding facial animations, but it costed them a lot of money, the budget was almost as big as 70 million dollars.
I think that Dontnod developers decided to keep a balance between budget amount and features of the game. It's so hard to do everything good if you're lacking money and time to develop something.
Just a heads up!! Part 3 will be affected by part 2. But as you may say "well shes gonna be dead cuz most people picked she dies" well it actualy takes your previous game file and uses that to make the part for each individual person. And thats also y it takes sooooooi long to make these games...
Here were my choices and she STILL jumped:

I answered her phone call earlier that day.
I erased the message on the mirror and her board outside her room.
'Nathan is involved.'
'Be strong'.
'Your father'.
Now for some reason I got the choice selection of the bible quotes and I picked the one on the left about righteousness or something and with that choice alone, she jumped. What the hell.
You had to pick the bible verse Matthew 11:28. Notice when you look through her bible, Proverbs (the one you picked) was crossed out. The verse for Matthew was her favourite bible verse, I think.
Amazing how that one wrong decision decided the fate of Kate. I was gobsmacked.
Apparently you only get the "verses" option when you said something wrong previously. I think when you said "I had no idea" she took it the wrong way, right? You were supposed to respond with "I was scared" as shown in the video. Kate says that she understands when you respond this way. The last question would have been "who cares for Kate". The options would be her mother, brothers, sisters, or father. She responds positively to "your father" and "your sisters" [when you look through her room, you see a postcard from Kate's father, and a picture of Kate and her sisters].
Gosh, I thought my choice of picking her father would've been the big save of Kate's life but nope.. :/
***** You posted this two months ago so maybe you already figured it out but... You shouldn't take the photo of her and David, you should go between them. That's the First major thing.
I think you should tell her to go to the police, that's what I did but I don't think this choice matters that much.
You answered the phone - good. You erased the message - good. If you say all the right things she will go to Max's arms after saying "Be strong" but if not you have the say the second bible choice - the one to the right.

Kate's death is sad and ugly but give to the player a deep involvement and a strong desire to know the truth
I did everything to be nice and helpful with her during the two episodes and she died only because i answered wrong at the two last questions. That was harsh. ^^

Her powers: Literally stopped time so she could get up there to begin with.
I get that the message is 'It wasn't your powers, it was you' but saying her powers failed is just straight up wrong. If thwy did fail, Kate would be dead right now.
