That isn't what happened, Thawne DID Manipulate Wally into thinking he was going crazy BUT Savitar caused the Speedforce lightning to come out of Wally. The How is from him escaping from the speed force (Savitar) you can read it in the 2021 Annual.
@@Menma300 it's a retcon because this didn't happen at the end of the comic. Savitar and Thawne didn't happen till the 2021 annual. Tom King ended with wally killing those people. He even went to that God that sideways works with.
Originally the writer was gonna choose other characters for the two heroes framed and the murderer but dc editorial forced him to use harly, booster and wally causing the story to fail
Actually, from what I've read, the writer didn't have any characters for those slots in the story, and directly asked editorial for who to put in there. Once they gave him Booster, Harley, and Wally, he just wrote for it.

I think editorial for comics are just there to ruin the story because up till now they are genuinely useless unless it’s to ruin stories
