Hey! It is a bit buzzy in general (you can feel the vibrations through the foot pegs and handlebars a lot in any gear/rpm range), but truthfully I simply really like the sound 😊
@@Nickins Define 3rd gear? Riding in 3rd on a straight piece of road where the speed limit exceeds 100 kmp/h. It seems everyone else is saying it but you. But hey you live your life. Why put unnecessary stress on your engine? I currently own the white M1000XR & have owned 3 x XR's in the past & I know the bikes character. I personally couldn't ride a MXR in 3rd gear on a freeway for more that 500 metres. Is that definition ok?
Fantastic bike. Glad you are enjoying it. The base XR is on my shortlist of bikes. Going from a ZX 14 it would be nice to have a lighter bike with more comfort. Enjoy the Kilometers.
Everyone please! There’s literally nothing wrong with the fucking 3rd gear!!! Can’t understand why yall so fucking obsessed with the god damn 3rd gear. This bike’s max rpm goes up to 14k-15k and he is not even using half of it. So everyone plz CALM THE FUCK DOWN jesus.
Thanks! I was so lost, too… to be honest coming from 2 years atop the R NineT that was most comfortable at 3k rpm it was quite strange to go up to 8k+ with no effort 😂
Obsessed? I wouldn't call it obsessed. I think everyone is calling it 'strange/weird/unusual'. Imagine being a pillion passenger with him or going on a group ride with a rider who is stuck in 3rd gear the entire time? Everyone would be calling to out, just like we are here. .... Obsession with 3rd gear is, well - Fascinating.
I’m an engineer at BMW for 34 yrs. Running an engine constantly at lower gears and higher RPMs WILL ruin your engine, in the long run eventually. Yes the sound at lower gears and higher rpms is addictive, but if you really listen to your engine, you’ll hear the damage being done slowly. But what do I know, I’m NOT THE EXPERT HA?. Treat it well and it will outlive you. Another point, SWITZERLAND is NOT the most beautiful country in the world. I lived for 4 years in Basel doing my engineering masters there. It’s overpriced, over rated and very unfriendly country. Try the Canadian rockies or the fjords in Norway. Biker heaven. NO CONTEST! I have the same bike with the competition pack. Ride safe. Enjoy it. That’s my 2 cents.
Hey man, thanks a lot for your feedback. Honest question: what would you consider high rpm for this engine? I know it is best for the engine to alternative the rpm, but I don’t think an hour at a constant 6-8k will ruin anything. Switzerlands nature is beautiful though, especially in Ticino which is full of mountains :) Norway is indeed incredible (haven’t been to Canada) but you can’t ride there all year round!
Been living in Switzerland for three years, Very beautiful country indeed, but unfriendly as hell. Not that i had any issues with anyone, nor authorities, but people were not willing to talk with foreigners, somewhat allergic. I don't know if that changed now , but early 90-ies was like that
Just curious, please don't take this as a criticism, but why 3rd gear on the motorway? Isn't the bike a little buzzy at 130 kph in 3rd gear?

he is always way to low in the gear
@@chrisi123define “too low”?

f...k on 3rd gr.....omg
The thing gets to 130 in 1st
if you want to destruct an engine drive like this.
How so? You think a 999cc inline 4 engine is over stressed at 6-8k rpm? 😂
EXACTLY
@@Nickins riding it continuously in one rev range whilst not changing gears - YES!!! it is stressing the engine.
I have never seen someone, especially a motorcyclist, sit on an interstate in 3rd gear!
You can't ride a motorcycle. You need a scooter🤬
Thanks for you feedback I was going straight on the highway, not sure what I should do differently. Any suggestions?
When you can't turn, wheelie sir 😂

I think he meant that you are riding in 3rd gear all the time, but hey i don't know :)
@@Tagen242 hehe, I could stay in 1 all the time with this engine :)
