@@JoeyMills-y3v Well, we haven't won much while he's been at the club. We are all pulling for him to succeed, but he needs to improve. Johnson was not signed not to score. His record is roughly 1 in 3, which is very respectable, especially given a lot of those were sub appearances. His record was better than that for the two? seasons he started regularly. And most noteworthy, the player who replaced him was.. Ian Rush. The only thing Darwin has over Jota is availability. Look, we all like him, but this is his third year, we're going to need to make a decision soon on whether to sell or extend. I suggest you look at our wage bill, it's precariously close to UEFA's 70% of revenue limit, do we really want him taking up wage space at this level of performance? He's not going to take a cut on the extension, so Edwards/Hughes + Slot are going to have to make a decision and I don't think their data models include 'likability'. I sincerely hope Darwin can kick on and prove his worth before it's too late.

Darwin doesn't have to be THE guy at Liverpool to be successful same as Firmino. He contributes goals and assists when needed like the two goals against Newcastle last season when were down to 10 men. He is loved because he never gives up and is entertaining and I doubt that will change.
Darwin is currently the top scorer in the south american WC qualifiers. I don’t have the technical knowledge but I’m sure comparing the style of play of the national team to the liverpool style could shine some light on the situation
This would be useful if Darwin wasn't getting chances to score with Liverpool. He is, lots of them, he just misses them. Would he get a higher volume of chances if he was the main man and the whole team played for him? Yes, but he's not good enough to do that for at any club aiming to win league and CL. He needs to improve. Liverpool are giving him chances no other top club would, and Liverpool supporters are giving him their full backing as well whereas at other clubs he'd be whistled, waved handkerchiefs at and ostracized. We're all pulling for him, but he needs to improve and start delivering. Another way to look at it: if Liverpool had the sort of playstyle that is geared towards a single #9 shooting and scoring most, Darwin would be gone already. His erratic performances can be borderline tolerated because he's one of 5-6 forwards in a front 3 system.
@@paulie-g Nunez is 2024’s Emile Heskey. The small strikers would not be as prolific if not for the big guy creating spaces and chances. Anyone who doesn’t understand this either needs to support another club or switch to cricket.
@@midknight We don't play that way. Also, we score more when Darwin isn't playing and his assist numbers aren't outstanding. I like him, I want him to succeed, his playstyle can be a valuable tactical variation for us, but he needs to improve his production and find a way to be effective. This is just reality, Jota and Diaz as a false 9 are a much more productive option in most games. No Liverpool forward can underperform his xG for an extended period and expect to stay at Liverpool when we want to win PL and CL - our standards are now too high for that.
As long as Darwin Nunez plays for Liverpool he has my backing and once he leaves he will still have my backing. I just love the man , gives his all for club and country everytime. Darwin Nunez YNWA❤
Exactly! I can't hate him, he's the only player where I cheer just as loud for him when he misses as when he scores. There's a special player in him, we just need to keep backing him, YNWA ❤
I'm gonna be honest here. If Liverpool keeps winning, I don't really care if Darwin scores or not (or if any particular LFC player scores or not). He contributes in other ways. I remember people criticizing Firmino as well, for not scoring enough but he ended up a club legend anyway. Fans cried when he left. Anyway, I only have an issue if he misses clear chances and we drop points as a result. So, as of now, I actually don't mind him since LFC is doing so well overall. He works hard, press well.... so I don't have much to complain about RIGHT NOW. Why would I when LFC is doing great. Just enjoying the moment. I care more about overall team performance stats than individual player stats
I think one thing i have noticed is that he is that type of player when he's really in his zone, he is such a menace that even without scoring he breaks the opposition apart with his runs and craziness and others score because the defenders are having a hard time with darwin. But then there are times he just goes quiet maybe due to low confidence. Perhaps slot needs to utilise him as a super sub for now where his job is 30-40 mins of complete chaos
Personally, Liverpool have a left winger luxury problem and has had that for years. If you watched Nunez in Portugal and for the national team, he plays on the left wing, driting inside and then shooting. I think that is his best position. the problem however, is that we have players who are far better than him playing on the left, so he is stuck up front, where he doesn't get the same out of it. Darwin Nunez is best when he can run at the goal, rather than up front with his back to the goal. He doesn't suit Slot's style of play as well as he did Klopps, which is why I want him sold next summer. we could loan him out, but I'd rather sell him and buy Omar Marmoush
I'm a Liverpool supporter and the cold harsh reality is that in his 3rd season, he's actually regressed. He doesn't really cause as much "chaos" anymore or create massive chances for Salah. Maybe it's the new system put in place by Slot that emphasizes control over Klopp's. Take a look at his most recent start vs Southampton. Scores a 1v1 after the defender and keeper both made mistakes. Messed up two counters by not releasing the ball to Gakpo at the right time. Completely ignored wide open Chiesa/Elliott on the right wing to take a low percentage shot from outside the box that was predictably, blocked by a defender's shinpads. He will be an energy sub that causes defenders to panic and can influence games there (like winning the pen vs City), but I doubt he'll ever figure out the decision making and clinical finishing that unlocks his full potential. We all love watching him, but I think he'll be sold next summer.
On an unrelated note, Nunez Hardwork , commitment and Pute passion for the club is part of the reason Fans still root for him, but fans despise guys hate Marcus Rashford.
As a liverpool fan I love him as he plays with his heart on his sleeve, i just wonder what it is that causes him to mess up so often. There are times you watch him where he can pull a rabit out of a hat and the next he'll miss a sitter. I akways want him to score but unfortunatly you can only get away with that for so long.
Same here, I really love him but it seemed that he wouldn't make it big whilst playing for us. We need an archetypal number 9 who converts chances on a dime; too bad Nunez ain't the one.
He is highest in progressive carries average distance He is 5th highest in tackles 15 with only 642 miniutes others on the list are midfielder or defender with 1000+ miniutes Low shots per 90 but we need a striker that can run in and press be a threat (e.g :- Bobby firmino) I would like to see in future can he be a winger or a midfielder or if he improve finishing he can be a huge advantage I will back him
As a Benfica fan, I really liked Darwin in Benfica. I have to admit since he left to Liverpool I haven't paid much attention to him, however, when I hear hes name it always brings a smile to my face. I feal that he is such a great person and, when in form, a fantastic player. I would like to see him some day come back to Benfica, he never won much with the club and he definitely deserves it.
@boisesoccer - Darwin is Uruguay's 🇺🇾 number 1 (or number 9 actually) striker. So he probably gets confidence because he knows he is relied upon and the Uruguay team is (most likely) built round maximising his abilities. National teams usually play more basic football since they don't play as regularly as club teams. Liverpool are not built around Darwin and that's (partly) why you see a different player in both teams.
It was ridiculous. Two inch perfect shot from not easy angles running at speed. I do not think Newcastle was ever the same after that. For a few brief weeks, Newcastle seemed like an up and coming team. Up a goal against a 10 man Liverpool seemed to buttress that argument. Then losing to a 10 man Liverpool team made them look very midtable.
I personally feel like Darwin needs to play in a hectic system in order to flourish. Maybe the European style of play doesnt suit him. The more he has to think, the worse he is.
My issue with this whole Darwin Nunez debate about whether he'll come great and be the striker most expect him to be is this seemingly IMPOSSIBILITY to improve his composure/finishing. What is angering me now is apparently it's IMPOSSIBLE for Darwin Nunez to NOT be able to IMPROVE in scoring consistently, no matter how many training sessions he does, it feels and seems like its IMPOSSIBLE! And I ask HOW!!!! And WHY!!!! Nobody seems like they can or have an answer, WHY???
@maciejbala477 I hear ya, but if Darwin wants it enough to improve, (which maybe isn't the case sadly) then he would become clinical, no if's or but's. This is my entire argument! If he doesn't want to become a great goalscorer at Liverpool, he can leave the club, because that attitude isn't and shouldn't be good enough to be accepted at a club like Liverpool.
@@Andre-hm5vo One thing you can't fault him for is desire. I don't think this is the problem. Some players just can't find consistency, it's the hardest thing to do in football actually, the world's mid-table clubs are littered with players who are 'unplayable on their day'.
@@paulie-g Oh I agree nobody can question Darwin's "desire." That's just not even a criticism that can be labelled at him. What I don't get is how he seemingly can't improve his finishing/composure, if he's practicing rigorously on it. (if he's not, therein lies the problem) Anyone practices something so often, there likely become really good at it no? If that's the case then, why is football any different? It's not, so why isn't Darwin improving if he is practicing, that is what is not making sense to me. Why is this rocket science?
@@Andre-hm5vo If this *were* rocket science, it would be tractable, ie given sufficient intelligence and effort, rocket science can be studied and understood. This is different. Darwin clearly *can* finish, as evidenced by the spectacular goals he's able to score. So the ability, in theory, is there. The problem is being able to execute in game situations reliably. This isn't a matter of understanding, it's a matter of being able to handle stress and adrenaline. It's like a fight-or-flight response - some people flee, some freeze, and some switch into beast mode, and it's not a given that any amount of training can change that in everyone. Yes, practice helps *some* people because it wires their brains to treat the in-game situation as a less stressful situation by analogy to the practice session, but it's not true for everyone. Ever hear players and managers say it's hard/impossible to train for penalties? Same thing. The problem isn't scoring the pen, any top level pro footballer scores them in training reliably. But you can't reproduce the stress of, say, taking a pen in a world cup shootout. This is why they all have those routines to place the ball, walk in a certain way, go through certain steps - they've trained with them and it's a neural hack to try to trick their brains into associating the moment with the training situation with no pressure, rather than a real pen with your whole country depending on you. Can't do that with a chance in open play obviously. My point is it's very unlikely that someone who displays so much desire and has the workrate Darwin has suddenly turns into a lazy slob who refuses to do finishing drills in training. For one, Slot wouldn't play him if he didn't see him do well in training.. Players are human, and not all of our psychology is in our control, otherwise we wouldn't have addicts, or people with depression, or other mental health issues. Not everything can be 'fixed'. Usually, by the time players get to Liverpool, this sort of thing will already have 'clicked' for them in their heads, otherwise they wouldn't be at Liverpool. But you can often see it with players at other clubs, especially the 'late bloomers' - something changes and they're suddenly more effective, whether that's goal scoring or end product for wingers/fullbacks. It looks like a step change, rather than continuous improvement. For some, the likes of Abgnlahor or Zamora, it never happens. Incidentally, there are a number of long forgotten players who are known among pro footballers as being absolute superstars in training, but who never managed to do it in games. When they talk among themselves on podcasts this often comes up. This is true in other fields of endeavour as well. I know a concert violinist who is absolutely brilliant, but her nerves made it impossible for her to perform, and she practiced at least 6 hours each day since she was 4 years old until she was 25, that's more than any football player has ever trained.
Merry Xmas Adrian! I completely concur with your take on Darwin. He's equal parts fun and frustrating, but ya gotta love him. I hope LFC can hang onto him and perhaps he'll break out. But you can't fault his passion and drive. I'll echo it... Long Live Darwizzy! YNWA!
I like him, I really do. I dislike his lack of end product but I love his personality, passion and drive. I WANT to keep supporting him. The times he shows brilliance makes me so happy. It's a similar feeling to when firmino scored a goal.
Darwin feels like a player who’s not a natural striker (to be honest, I don’t think there are many left in 2024) and would either benefit more playing off the left or playing in a two man strike partnership as the hard worker alongside someone more clinical
In the two games vs Liverpool for Benfica, he looked like a sniper. Those finishes including the disallowed efforts were not just clinical but surgical. I'm my mind, after that game he was a different player to how he's turned out at Liverpool. If I'm ever not watching a game and I hear Liverpool have scored, I get this feeling where I'm really hoping, as I look up the scorer that the name 'Nunez' is what I'll see. Unfortunately it's becoming less and less the case. I'm still a little hopeful but it's beginning to look like he's not going to be what I want him to be. I still really, really want him to succeed.
Collecter of great misses yeah thats our boy darwizy. I am rooting for him to be successful for us. I love his passion, the energy he brings. I really hope we will see the best of darwin soon.
We're going to have to see it soon, because we're getting to the point where we either extend or sell and likability is unlikely to feature in Will Spearman's data models. I just checked and it looks like he got a 6 year deal so in theory he has another season to try, but..
I think he is a Player that needs Space to properly Function and utilize his Chaotic Style of Play, under Klopp and now under Slot, he doesn't have the Tactical Nous to play on the Left and he doesn't have the Calmness to be Effective as a Number 9. I feel like he needs to totally reinvent himself, especially his understanding of the Game and that means learning to Calm Down and not rely on Overly Emotionally Tense Moments to be Effective. He has the tools to be very Effective as a Striker/Forward, but honestly, its all in his hands, if he badly wants to improve, he would...
Honestly, we have to start accepting players for who they are, not who we want them to be. Our expectations are literally the difference between who they are (reality) and perfection (which doesn't exist btw). Fans turn into that aunt/uncle mom/dad that just talk about how you could do better at school no matter how good you do lol
I personally am at the point where I really want us and Darwin to go our separate ways, he is extremely likable but he is not consistent enough and misses too many chances to be a top striker for Liverpool. It’s just a signing that doesn’t fit for both the club and the player imo
I think Darwin Nunez will suit la liga more his pace will b more of an advantage there than the premier legaue and with many teams revolve around good creative midfielders to provide key chances also him not learning English means maybe hi integration isn't 100% technically he's a good and skillful number 9 but missing easy chances and having low confidence isn't helping him being in a club like Villareal, Sevilla or Sociedad gonna help him
Guy always gives his 100% out there. I want him to be good so badly, but man.....this is his 3rd season with the club, and he still hasn't gotten it figured out yet. I just dont know if I ever see him doing so at this point. Especially with how good Jota can be when hes not hurt.
What's interesting re: Darwin...fans in the stadium and in the city seem to love him. Fans online want him gone. It's indicative of a greater culture shift in football. Online fans are much more fickle and tend to give up on a player the moment he doesn't outperform expectations. Like, Darwin is an amazing backup striker to Jota. Different playstyle, his pace and strength are pretty much 2nd to none in the EPL, and if he had cost 10M instead of 80M I honestly think most criticism would stop (I may be naive). Divock Origi never really got serious criticism from LFC fans, even before he became a late-game GOAT. It isn't Darwin's fault that his price tag was high.
You are wrong in one thing: Darwin HAS changed. 2 years ago he would lash out in the Southampton game. 2 years ago he wouldnt backtrack. He is slowly becoming more Firminho rather than Cavani. He is hothead and (in footballing terms) immature for his age. But he is getting there, I believe in him! He puts the work to earn out trust, 100%!
I thought he'd be our old Torres, but he simply ain't consistent enough with the amount of chances we create for him and hasn't got the dribbling like that of a Torres
I think he is a Player that needs Space to properly Function and utilize his Chaotic Style of Play, under Klopp and now under Slot, he doesn't have the Tactical Nous to play on the Left and he doesn't have the Calmness to be Effective as a Number 9. He has the tools to be very Effective as a Striker/Forward, but honestly, its all in his hands, if he badly wants to improve, he would..i understand the need to be Supportive of Players but Football is the Wild West, a Player needs to go out of their Way to make their own Luck...Even the Greatest Players have gone through tough Spells even Seasons, but they ultimately bounce back and do so in Style...
He's a great lad and he puts in so much effort, but we can't have him as a starting player. If we can afford to have him on the books whilst being an impact sub and a sometime starter then I'd be happy with that. I mean, he always has that potential to reach another level or 2. He's gone backwards under Slot, but the season is only half over.
That's the problem, we're not seeing progress for the minutes we invest in him and he doesn't make the impact you hope for from a sub a la Origi. We're close to the 70% of revenue UEFA FFP wage limit, he's on 140k pw, and we will soon have to make a decision on either extending or selling. Besides us all liking him and feeling like there's a chance that if we let him go, it'll all click somewhere else and we'll be sorry, are you seeing anything that says a sporting director can responsibly give him a 5 year contract?
Darwin Nunez is not the next Haaland, he is the next Origi. Nunez shouldn't be used as 90 mins player, but an impact sub to change games. Nunez is to Jota what Origi was to Sturridge and then Firmino.
The fact that he hasn't kicked on is disappointing. At this point I can't see it happening. Liverpool will need someone more clinical, especially with Salah approaching the end of his career.
Writing from Uruguay here🙋🏼 Uruguayans know nothing about discipline, and ballers are rather intuitive/instinctive than hard workers. Forlán was an exception but he does not come from an average family and had a different mentality. Suárez was exceptionally talented, being one of the best centre forwards in the history of football. Núñez is good but not as good as Suárez and doesn't have Forlán's mindset. I think he should work on his decision-making under pressure, which might not even have to be addressed entirely on the pitch but rather with the help of a neuroscientist. I hope he'll start scoring a ton of goals soon.
I love Darwin but for all the times I was frustrated when he misses I'm now ready to see him leave. I hoped he would be at least our new origi. A cult hero with absolutely crucial goals but unfortunately he didn't reach that and we hadn't had such run since his arrival.

Exactly
Pathetic brainless simps 🙄
He remind me players like Lovren or Skertl. Those who error prone but give all their hearts to Liverpool. Always love these players.
Darwizzy has great work rates. He will tear up lesser competition if let go from the Premier League.
He's a Werner
He's Emile Heskey.
Liverpool loves Nunez.
No
He is highest in progressive carries average distance
He is 5th highest in tackles 15 with only 642 miniutes others on the list are midfielder or defender with 1000+ miniutes
Low shots per 90 but we need a striker that can run in and press be a threat (e.g :- Bobby firmino)
I would like to see in future can he be a winger or a midfielder or if he improve finishing he can be a huge advantage I will back him
As a Benfica fan, I really liked Darwin in Benfica.
Liverpool fan, hoping more than anything he can pull through. Love the guy
Same bro he almost score a gol yesterday 😢
Great video gang
Surprisingly, Darwin Nunez does Amazingly well for Uruguay. He pretty much made Suarez a bench player in Copa America.
Totally, he's an extremely mysterious dude.
He's confusing lad
@boisesoccer - Darwin is Uruguay's 🇺🇾 number 1 (or number 9 actually) striker. So he probably gets confidence because he knows he is relied upon and the Uruguay team is (most likely) built round maximising his abilities. National teams usually play more basic football since they don't play as regularly as club teams.
Liverpool are not built around Darwin and that's (partly) why you see a different player in both teams.
If memory serves me, Darwin had come in and saved us from defeat to Newcastle. Scored two goals when we really needed it.
Nice one mate carry on with the good work injoy it, Merry Christmas 🎉
Darwin is a pressing striker, not a finisher
That’s a contradiction of terms.
So the conclusion is, he’s just a chill guy who loves football. Hmm.
I personally feel like Darwin needs to play in a hectic system in order to flourish. Maybe the European style of play doesnt suit him. The more he has to think, the worse he is.
Ironically, he'd probably be great somewhere like Iraola's Bournemouth.
@paulie-g actually I think we should sell him to Atletico Madrid, then bring in Johnathan David in on a free
@@chriskohh And Atleti would buy him.. why?
@@paulie-g Griezman is gone after this season, Correa could be as well. Simeone likes South Americans
@@chriskohh atletico has both alvarez and Sorloth, they are not starving for a striker
And WHY!!!!
Nobody seems like they can or have an answer, WHY???
people are different. That's all. Maybe he just doesn't have it in him to change that part
When Liverpool signed him I came to you, to tell me what Nunez was really about. Now you're asking the question? I thought you knew! 😉😁👍
I hope Darwin will be remembered as a legend of the club
I'm rooting for him 🙌🏻 YNWA
Happy holidays, Darwin, Adrian & co! 👍👏😊😊🔥🔥🥳🥳♥️♥️
Happy holidays! Enjoy your visit to your family and take care!
we liverpool fans love him soo much
and middle of last season, he really was our main man
i hope slot finds a way to bring the best out of him again
Time to do a video update on sporting. João Pereira fired after 4 weeks of taking over. 100% club 100% finished.
1. Useless
2. Cannot stay onside
3. Cannot pass.
4. No composure
5. Headless chicken on the pitch.
That sums the guy up.
Evolution is a mystery.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays chief 🍻💜
Darwin Nunez is player who fan rejected turn into well loved player from club and fan
He is a puppy that wished to be a real boy. An enigma, a contradiction, yet never boring. Wish him the best.
He wears that badge, and I will always support him. Keep going, captain chaos! Con todo mi corazón .
Long live Darwin and happy holiday adrian
have a splendid holiday season GOAT ❤️
DarwinLingard ?
AndyNunezCaroll ?
I think Darwin Nunez will suit la liga more his pace will b more of an advantage there than the premier legaue and with many teams revolve around good creative midfielders to provide key chances also him not learning English means maybe hi integration isn't 100% technically he's a good and skillful number 9 but missing easy chances and having low confidence isn't helping him being in a club like Villareal, Sevilla or Sociedad gonna help him
hope he makes it here at liverpool or elsewhere. still one of my favourite players
As much as he frustrates me at times I just love him... he's that guy fr... ❤
Plays with everything in his might. 😭❤️🔥🔥🔥
Darwin Nunez is a Diego Forlan regen. Watch him tear up La Liga once Liverpool lets go of him.
he causes chaos and would've worked under Klopp,
Slot wants control and Darwin might not be our best bet
I love him with all my heart
The style of play has changed from the klopp era meaning darwin gets less of the ball in the final third
Cut your hair Darwin! The numbers will go up ⬆️
Anyone who has followed Arne Slot in recent years knows that Arne always had a Darwin in his Team!!
You are wrong in one thing:
Darwin HAS changed.
We will always remember that game against Newcastle.
The goat
the GOAT, thats what he is 🐐🔥🔥
A very fair assessment. He works hard and never shies away, but it is not equalling goals
It doesn't need to equal goals tho 😂
Darwin 3 goals in last 30 games.
Marc Guiu 5 goals in 2 games. 1 hat trick.
He's an Edinson Cavani regen
I thought he'd be our old Torres, but he simply ain't consistent enough with the amount of chances we create for him and hasn't got the dribbling like that of a Torres
I think he is a Player that needs Space to properly Function and utilize his Chaotic Style of Play, under Klopp and now under Slot, he doesn't have the Tactical Nous to play on the Left and he doesn't have the Calmness to be Effective as a Number 9. I feel like he needs to totally reinvent himself, especially his understanding of the Game and that means learning to Calm Down and not rely on Overly Emotionally Tense Moments to be Effective.
The description is wrong btw, just letting you know
Thank you!
Didn´t Dominic Solanke go through a wee bit similar road? He´s quite fine now.
Nunez need to go to The EFL Championship 😂 !
Wow, didn’t know you were a fellow Montrealer✌️
Happy Holidays for you and your family! 💙💙
I see myself as the YMCA adult co-Ed league Darwin Nuñez for sure 😂
Darwin Nunez is not the next Haaland, he is the next Origi. Nunez shouldn't be used as 90 mins player, but an impact sub to change games. Nunez is to Jota what Origi was to Sturridge and then Firmino.
He’s a good mascot. Maybe not worth 80mil but worth something large
He’s 2 years away from being 2 years away
It's not that he isn't goal threat, the goals he misses is below the technique of a semi pro footballer. And it's shocking
Darwizzy
Nunez Nunez Nunez ⛳
I think he would suit a CAM? Szoboszlai though
Darwin is Torres with anger issue.
Make him a CM or RB and he'll go crazy
The fact that he hasn't kicked on is disappointing. At this point I can't see it happening. Liverpool will need someone more clinical, especially with Salah approaching the end of his career.
Idk how to explain it but to me he's always felt more like a LaLiga player
Chaosball FTW
Good insight, thank you!
“No penguins, no animals?!”
85 of the queens finest to cause “chaos”. Love the guy but we’re in season 3, enough of this “chaos” nonsense
I love Darwin but for all the times I was frustrated when he misses I'm now ready to see him leave. I hoped he would be at least our new origi. A cult hero with absolutely crucial goals but unfortunately he didn't reach that and we hadn't had such run since his arrival.
Expensive Andy Carroll.
Your so great , well done.
Andy Carroll was expensive Andy Carroll...
A marmot, he is a marmot
I will always back aompne who works hard and cares. You see that with Darwin, so as long as he is a res, i will back him. Yea, people qant to sell him, but hes om the ream and wont move in January.
If only we could get the Benfica Nuñez into him😒
He is chaos
