- This is so EXCITING! 😱
We love how things are developing so far, Toranaga is so smart and playing his cards really well, we love him! 🤩
John Blackthorne is in a new position of power too with the information he has to give, it will be very interesting to find out how it all turns out 🤔 And we also loved Mariko but we hate that she's so conflicted between the two sides 😓
Thank you so much for watching, we hope you enjoy the reaction and have a great day, love you! 💖

The bath thing is from the water in cities being unsafe as far as I know. Japan has hotsprings and better waste management so it's less of a concern.
Bathing in cities was safe, drinking water in cities was unsafe. They strongly believed these timesthat you can get cold, fever and die if you get wet
Ohh there must have been an interesting smell in the western cities by that time 🤭
The average Japani would bathe the same as the average European. Mariko was part of the elite class who had the servants to provide hot water, soap, and clean clothes, so her class bathed more often.
I'm really enjoying your Shogun reactions! It's an amazing show for sure.
One thing you may have missed...two of the five regents are Christian - Kiyama (who they said loves money) and Ohno (the one with leprosy). We saw Kiyama meeting with the Catholic priests discussing what to do about Blackthorne who was revealing their secrets to Toranaga, and Kiyama said "let this be my burden" meaning he would take care of him. So, it was Kiyama who sent the assassin to kill Blackthorne.
Yes! We understood that much a bit later while editing. Sometimes with the new names we get a little confused hehe
The real Blackthorne, (not his real name) has two memorials about him, one in Tokyo and the other I think in Yokohama. In Nagasaki there is a memorial to the 16 martys, one of which was a Apache acolyte Diego Pacheco, who I thought was an ancestor, but he's not.
Ohh that's so cool! We didn't know
Great reactions and Intelligent discussion. You are going to enjoy this journey so much 🤓
Thank you so much! So far we are in awe of this story 🤗
Great reactions! This show has such good writing (and acting).
Totally! We didn't know anything about it before it got recommended and we can't believe it's not getting more hype.
The line he put through Argentina was him showing round about where the Strate of Magellan is that he went through to get into the pacific ocean. It's actually just south of Argentina in Chile.
Yes, we know haha we're from Argentina so we were just joking.
26:37 Not at the time. In those times Spain and Portugal were the big guys in europe, England couldn't compete on sea, so they would give letters of marque to pirates that would allow them to raid spanish and portuguese ships and bases. Eventually they became the british empire, but that was later, and it was accelerated because they wanted to compete with the power of Spain and Portugal (England wanted to be able to access global trade and conquer new lands as well).
Interesting! Thanks for the context 🤗
Shogun is a masterpiece great reaction 👍🏻
Totally agreed!!
Thanks ❤️
Good one!
Don't worry, Mariko has even more stuff about her, you've only scratched the surface.
We love her so far! But we feel a bit sorry for her at the same time.
Yabushige is my favorite he's hilarious
Lol he crazy
The English do not yet rule the seas. At this point in time, Spain is still the greatest naval & military power.
Good reactions, but it would be helpful if you could make the captions larger.
Thanks for the recommendation, unfortunately we can't find a file with bigger captions than that 😔
The English had very poor public sanitation at this time, with raw sewage running through their streets and into their rivers. So bathing was a good way to catch something... like dysentery.
Ohh right! It's so cool to know the motives for how cultures were built, thanks ❤️
You have Father Alvito all wrong. Father Alvito is an honest man. He would have translated accurately even if Mariko were not there. It was Father Alvito who converted Mariko to Christianity and taught Mariko Portuguese and Latin. Father Alvito saved Mariko from suicide and genuinely cares for her. Conversely, Mariko trusts Alvito and thinks very highly of him. The animosity between Anjin & Alvito will create internal conflict for Mariko. Rewatch the scenes between Alvito and Mariko.
Dude, wouldn't it be better for them to find out this for themselves.
You keep confusing Toranaga's hunting falcons with his carrier pigeons. The bird he brought inside his quarters is a falcon for hunting, which Toranaga regards as a beautiful majestic creature. Toranaga would never bring a lowly pigeon into his quarters.
Oh thanks for clearing that up! 🤗
