What I like about this channel is, he knows cars, car market and the car industry. I was a motor trader for 20 years so I know when people talk sense on cars. He highlights so many flaws in buying into electric cars. No quick cheap fix on a secondhand one and who'd buy into a used one knowing the batteries degrading whilst you sit in it. I'd rather buy a petrol car and keep it for 25 yrs. Now, that's green.

I think that is a really poor reason to buy the car unless it is compared to a comparably price ICE car. Q-Tips have better quality control than Tesla. On top of the exploitation of workers to mine EV battery metals, like lithium, nickel, cobalt, it's "feel good" legislation to the Ecocrats and their green cult and their tiny carbon footprints. But, generating all that electricity (once millions of charging stations are built while ignoring the main infrastructure like we do in the US ) comes from fossil fuels. Or nuclear. NOT solar. EV's are great for family vacations, too; what takes a day or two of travel in a gas powered vehicle will take a month in an EV with chargings. Pray for no electrical issues during the trip.

    • @ECPP

    • @avengersendingangel8907
      @avengersendingangel8907 ปีที่แล้ว

@@francescobirritta6245 I take it this is in response to your comment? Have you ever been to an oil REFINERY? An "Oil field" is inherent to oil wells. Collecting crude oil from the ground. The refinery takes the crude oil from the well (fields) and chemically transforms the crude oil from the "field" into petroleum products AT A REFINERY. Products such as gasoline. Most importantly, to change crude oil (like you saw from your little visit to the oil "field"), petroleum products are synthesized at a REFINERY for use as fuels for transportation (gasoline), heating, and generating electricity to transform from the crude, and concurrently, fossil fuels are used to power generators which produce electricity. Wind, solar, hydro is not sufficient to power the massive grid extensions and building to supply the hundreds of thousands of charging stations needed for EV's. It will take decades. Unless everyone wants nuclear power. Again, stupidity at its best. Educate yourself.

@@ECPP I don't know what skills you have "over there", but here in Europe they will repair the batteries cell by cell! 😁
Only during the warranty they will replace batteries, which means they repair them and put them in other used cars where they replace batteries.
When the cars are in an accident, they use the cells/batteries to store energy in houses. So they will use any cell to the bitter end.
After fifteen years or so, the will recycle the metals, because it will be cheaper to recycle than to use minerals from the mines.
As I see it, I think that the problem will be the "rest" of the car.
The charging of the e-cars will not be any problem for at least 90 % of the owners, 95 % of the time in 5-10 years. There are always a small group of people that have special needs.
Here in Finland (where I am for the time being) people in small villages are starting to face another problem already... You have to drive 20-30 km to find a gas station (gasoline). The same will occur in 2/3 of Sweden too!
If you live in the countryside you have to have a e-car, or maybe a diesel!
The world is changing, and it goes quite fast. And Tesla started at least the change... 🙄

Another question... You are located in Calgary, aren't you?
How many days per year are the temperature below 0°C, and how many days is it below -25°C per year. Now I don't mean the average temperature of the they, I mean more the temperature between 05.00 - 09.00 in the morning when you have to start up the car.
In the Nordic countries people use electric heater, so the car is quite warm independent of temperature. And especially Teslas are warmed up before start!

@@leiflillandt1488 Yeah and their batteries loose like 25 percent charge overnight due to cold temps. Something else to consider, battery technology is changing so quickly and manufacturers are finding ways to make batteries that hold more energy and charge faster using alternative elements besides Nickle, cobalt and lithium. What are the chances in 10 years or whenever these batteries are no longer fit to power a car that the elements used in them will still be relevant to the current new battery technology they have to compete with? General motors, Tesla and Nissan have already pledged to make batteries cobalt free. Nickle will be the next element to eliminate.

    - Electrical issues. That sucks and is scary.
    - "Looks like something from the Apple store." Yep. A bit too look-alike for my taste. I want some individuality in my vehicles.

I had a headlight go bad, a fog light get full with condensation, a door handle stopped working, days where the blinker or screen would not work, days where the GPS would not navigate me anywhere other than to the same supercharger over and over, and many more frustrating issues like rattles and squeaks and my a-pillar popping off and all the wires coming out. I traded it in for a BMW x5 45e, which is insanely better build quality. thanks for the review. I could care less how a car looks. I only care about total cost of ownership. The average price of a new sedan is $30,000 (but many people drive used vehicles that cost much less then 30K). Tesla model 3 costs over $50,000. I spend about $30 a week on gas. So buying a Tesla just makes no sense to me. If you are spending $40,000 or more for a gas powered sedan and driving a lot of miles per year, then perhaps you might save some money owning a Tesla (but that is a select segment of the market, people who will spend $40,000 a year or more on a Sedan, are high income bracket or young people that live at home with their parents). And now a lot of people are working from home, at least part of the week, and driving a lot less miles. In the past 3 years I drove less then 2,000 miles a year.

Your message is disrespectful and offensive. I will report it as well as ask Exotic CAR PLAY PLACE to do the same. It’s good that so far, you have had good luck with your car but there are no lies! There is a GREAT number of cars that were designed with flaws that are going to be problematic for the owners down the road, Telsa is absolutely no exception. He mostly talked about cosmetics which doesn’t operate the car so he hasn’t even gotten started bashing Telsa yet. I can point out a laundry list of issues that would cost Telsa owners a fortune to resolve. I personally know one gentleman who owns a Tesla and the only reason that he owns one is because he is close enough to walk to work and hardly ever has much need to drive. This gentleman also is an older, elderly gentleman who stays local so the car doesn’t get that much mileage or use. For this individual, the Tesla is for now practical. You having no problems at this point is irrelevant, it means absolutely nothing! The point is not about the immediate time, it’s about the practicality of repairing the car when problems do arrive. When it does, you will be paying out the nose for repairs and maybe wiped out bank account as well behind on all your bills. The cost of a tech, parts, the car is all electric so finding the source is not going to be easy, there is so many problems that make that car impractical and ridiculously expensive to keep. It doesn’t matter that is it fine at this point, it’s when it does hit the fan, It WILL really hit the fan!! You will be changing your mind

As if pedestrians don't have it bad enough in most places, now you get big extra heavy, extra silent EVs cruising around. Another environmental issue (and cost to society) is down to this weight: road wear. The amount of damage a vehicle does to the road surface goes up rapidly with the weight of that vehicle- if everyone jumps in an EV, what will happen to roads? What about all the emissions created in resurfacing constantly and the costs (not to mention inconvenience of all the extra road works) I can see this becoming a massive problem in the future If you want to save the environmentand money, just get a bike, you'll get fit at the same time too- you can even get an e-cargo bike for errands. The solution to reduce transportation emissions is in infrastructure- not trying to make cars less polluting- pedestrians, cyclists and public transport need to be prioritized to reduce the need for people to commute to work and run all their errands in a car! Keep the car for long journeys or for fun! Who likes traffic anyway? Less cars on the road would make driving more fun too, even if you reduce the width and number of lanes (inly makes driving ore engauging) car dependency is the problem- EVs are just perpetuating that problem by allowing people to feel better about taking their car with them everywhere they go. We should reduce the miles driven and free those who hate driving or struggle to afford it from having to do it at all in most places. That is good for those who still need cars, those who just love cars and those who don't have cars! Everyonec wins.

Heavy metals?? Possibly nickel qualifies but not lithium, iron, phosphate or graphite. The batteries will be endlessly recycled, treated as extremely high grade ore. Check Redwood Materials about that. I question they can profit off the iron or graphite recycling but certainly Li and Ni. (Tesla not using cobalt anymore)
Other than very old batt packs, say 250 miles or more and older versions, failure is rare and they are getting cheaper all the time. LFP batts are becoming common and they should last well over 1 million miles before losing some 25% capacity, then they can serve another decade or two repurposed as stationary storage before recyc. LFPs have lower energy density/range but many folks prefer them for longevity and they like full 100% charging.

I ordered a model y. However I got a message from Tesla saying that they are removing the ultra sonic sensors and using cameras for fsd and auto pilot. Which is crap. If the camera gets a smudge or if it’s rainy then the autopilot will fail and phantom break. Safe to say I will be cancelling this order.

I have yet to meet a Tesla owner who genuinely likes their car. Be it quality issues, poor construction, inconvenient battery charging or the cost of not only the car, but for new batteries. Once of the novelty of having an electric car wears off, the reality of just how shitty Teslas are hits home.

My favorite thing to punish any Tesla driver who wants to race (and get killed by my 696HP F-Type that weighs 1800 lbs less), is slowly speed up to 70+ mph. If they dont give up due to range anxiety, I’ll go even faster. 80mph is waaaaaay above a speed that can them home. Its mean to crush their soul, but I enjoy it.
