"4 Flavored Lip Balms"
Whether you are looking for a way to help soothe your winter chapped lips or looking for a present idea that will check a bunch of people off your holiday gift list, Jamie's latest DIY may do the trick! She's here to show you how to make four different flavors of lip balm that will make a sweet gift for you or your friends this season.
General Supplies:
Beeswax
Coconut Oil
Almond Oil
Dry & Liquid Measuring Tools
Peeler / Grater
Oven Mitt
Wooden Spoon
Heat Resistant Container
Saucepan
Lip Balm Containers
Sweet Chocolate Lips:
1 tablespoon grated beeswax
1/2 teaspoon grated dark chocolate
3 teaspoons grated cocoa butter
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E
Vanilla Lips:
2 tablespoons grated beeswax
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E
1/4 teaspoon honey
Candy Melts (optional)
Butterscotch Lips:
1 teaspoon grated beeswax
1 teaspoon almond oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon cocoa butter
1 tablespoon butterscotch baking chips
Cranberry Lips:
1 tablespoon grated beeswax
1 tablespoon almond oil
1 teaspoon honey
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E
12 whole cranberries / 1 tablespoon cranberry sauce
Steps:
Step 1: Melt Beeswax & Oils slowly in double boiler
Step 2: Mix In Colors, Flavors & Sweeteners
Step 3: Remove From Heat
Step 4: Pour in (Decorated) Lip Balm Container

I made this for a mothers day gift and my mom loved it. it does work with just coconut oil and cocoa butter too.

The cranberry one can mold since it has water. So use it quick or add a preservative.

Eating lip balm sounds GROSS PX
To color lip balm, you can also use micas. Lipstick from top name brands usually contain lead. Also, to sweeten lip balm, you can use Stevia, also. I've heard that essential oils are not meant for ingesting, so you can use flavor oils. Petroleum jelly is NOT for lips and should definitely not be ingested! Sorry for being annoying, but these lip balm recipes are really cool! I'm definitely a fan!
i highly agree i like to use powdered strawberries to colour
some vasselines are for lips though.. their called lip therapy, and they smell so good, I would recommend that instead of the regular one
what does Mica contain?
I get what your saying but people should not be eating lip gloss and essential oil is only toxic if you ingest a lot of it. lol
