Thank you- this is so helpful! If you ever do a part 2- I would love if you would go deeper into using WMO mediums- maybe do a tutorial showing how you use WMO mediums to follow fat over lean . ❤

Thank you for the feedback, and yes, I’m currently working on a video about the mediums I use with water-mixable oils, so keep an eye out for it :)

Thank you for the idea! I’m filming a video now where I stretch my own canvas, so that would also be nice to cover :)

Hallo Ana! thanks for all these tips, its hard to find information in water mixable Oils , most people just hate them without even giving them a try, Ive been using Winsor and Newton for a while getting pretty decent results, but i always feel something is off( when i work with gouache and watercolor i always use professional grade) so im thinking i feel that because the paint doesn't have that much pigment since it is student grade, Im going to give cobra a chance as soon as i run out of paint since i don't really want to use traditional oil paint.
    Danke schon!

Hello! Yes, W&N is unfortunately not the best option if you are used to professional quality paints. I recommend giving Cobra or Holbein a try :) Let me know if you have any questions about them! I plan to make more videos on water-mixable oils soon.

Thank you for a very helpful video. I only use water mixable oils - Cobra and Holbein - and love them. The only thing I miss is underpainting with Gamsol - it was so smooth and allowed me to create a detailed underpainting at a pace I enjoyed. I have tried all the Cobra mediums and the thinner in various combinations with each other and water and nothing seems to work smoothly for me. I know that I won't be able to replicate the use of Gamsol exactly, but I wonder if you have a "formula" that may closely replicate the use of Gamsol for underpainting. I haven't tried the Windsor and Newton thinner, maybe this is the answer. Hopefully you can give me some advice. Kind regards, Peter.

How are you storing and disposing of your oil soaked paper towels that may or may not also include medium? I'm still doing my research before making a purchase. People on reddit are saying to buy a metal fire proof waste bin or store the oily paper towels in a metal bin that has water in it, but that could be a mold risk too. Some on reddit say that you even have to dispose of the oily paper towels with hazardous waste. If it was me i would just bring them to the trash every week, but if they have medium all over them along with oil that could be different. I know that I go through a lot of paper towel when I gouache paint, but its spotty and not covering the whole piece.

To be honest, my paper towels are completely drenched with water by the time I’m done, so I just collect them, put them in a bag and tie it up so they stay moist. It should be pretty safe to dispose of them that way.
