HOWEVER, if you had a smartphone with enough of a charge, and attempted to use it at odd times at night, like 2 in the morning, what little service you had, you could actually use, because most people were asleep.

Now, I have a 4K camera now in my pocket with an iphone...But tbh, I could see myself keeping my smartphone as wifi only for my sketch app, games, camera, and music player on the go - and have a flip for calls & texting. Might experiment with that.

Portable mini disc recorders are back big time with a huge following. We miss the tactile feel of solid state technology media instead of fb/tiktok vids.
I got a smart flip phone. It can do things a smartphone can, but it's harder to use. You need patience navigating around with the button controls. I would just use it for of course, calling, texting, music and note writing. Its very useful.
I tried this, but the biggest issue I had was finding a new flip phone without a camera and getting people to stop texting me multimedia messages. It was exhausting having to email me pictures and website links.
I haven't been happy for a while and I was thinking about times when I was happy. I’ve been saying for a long time these are the only phones parents should get for their kids. It would solve so many problems! It would: - eliminate the use of phones during class (which has become a huge problem in schools) - reduce the access to social media (which had proven to be harmful for kids) - make kids actually talk and play with each other more (instead of texting) - still allow for communication in an emergency (which seems to be parents’ main argument for why their kid needs a cell phone) Kids don’t need smart phones. They just need a basic phone for communication. This is it. It still exists people!
I like my smartphone. But I'd happily use it as wifi only and only during business hours. The remaining 2/3 of the day, I don't need all those apps. I'm good with shutting it off and letting all the companies trying to track me eat silence.
I've been saying it all along as a five year Samsung Z fold owner, that folding phones are actually horizontal flip phones with more screen real estate than regular cell devices that replaced carrying around a Ipads. Nothing new to see here people.
Shoot , there's no way i would switch from have my smartphone to having an old-school flip phone , a smartphone is extremely useful because it has the ability to play music and give me access to my medical records from my doctors in an app and it does things that a flip phone can't do such as getting info about something that you take a picture of which you don't have any idea what it is. If people are making a switch to flip phones then they're just on social media entirely too much and need to stop and think about what better things they could be doing with their time instead of being on social media 24/7.
I have a flip phone along with 16 different smartphones. I always wondered how much of an upgrade they would get if they stuck around long enough. They are definitely getting major upgrades. This is especially useful when driving since there’s less to run on demand.
I’ve owned 3 basic phones from Verizon before I switched to Straight Talk 10 years ago and I still remember my very first phone which was a LG VX5400 flip phone. I’m not into these new age smartphone flip phones at all which are more vulnerable in the middle with folding glass. If I were to get any flip phones I’d take the old school style any day
Agree. I have "smart" phone and I only use it to call or text. Occasionally take pictures and videos and google something. I never understood why everyone was always looking at their phone. Back before phones got smarter, I used to carry my DSLR everywhere I go. Now, I have a 4K camera now in my pocket with an iphone...But tbh, I could see myself keeping my smartphone as wifi only for my sketch app, games, camera, and music player on the go - and have a flip for calls & texting. Might experiment with that.
The google censorship is so anti democratic.
google is a tech corporation that gets away with everything & run by criminals
This is spot on I’m thinking about getting a flip phone and leave my smart phone at home but the only thing I’d miss is GPS 😭😭
I know I'm getting old when things from the early 2000s are being called old school. I'm still not completely used to the concept of cell phones. Never had one till May 2023.
Portable mini disc recorders are back big time with a huge following. We miss the tactile feel of solid state technology media instead of fb/tiktok vids.
Basic phone + manual systems(pen and paper) is fun.
My mom and dad had old flip phones. I remember them when I was like 5
I got a smart flip phone. It can do things a smartphone can, but it's harder to use. You need patience navigating around with the button controls. I would just use it for of course, calling, texting, music and note writing. Its very useful.
Too bad they're almost mandatory to work nowadays, especially if you don't have a computer
I tried this, but the biggest issue I had was finding a new flip phone without a camera and getting people to stop texting me multimedia messages. It was exhausting having to email me pictures and website links.
I tried this last week, but I need my apps for discounts whenever I'm shopping. I sent my device back to mobile for a Samsung Galaxy.
You just spend more time on your home computer that’s it
I'd love a simple phone, but unfortunately most if not all of them are very low quality.
I haven't been happy for a while and I was thinking about times when I was happy. I realized I was my happiest in the early 2000's when I'd be hanging out with friends and going places, reading, drawing, being in nature. I didn't have a cell phone or social media until I graduated high school in 2005. I want to get back to that happiness. Aside from YT, I deleted all social media and dumified my iPhone. I've started reading again and now I just need to find fun hobbies and friends to fill my free time. I can tell you I'm already feeling so much better.
I remember flip phone over 20 years ago.
I really liked the flip phones.
I don’t understand. Delete your social media or take a break from it. It’s not that hard.
My 12 year old kid rarely look at her iPhone now for almost a year, she said to us " I don't want to look at it its toxic I also just want to be useful at home do choirs, cooking and stuff. So proud of her.
Ummm yea I’m sure she did!
they say its an antenna problem its not an old phone only uses 4g and 3g networks there signal jamming for a phone sale what they do to me why would they not take our rights away tooy
T-Mobile Sidekick! Come back please!! 💯💯💯
Just a thought, how about just deleting the social media apps....but whatever works.
I want my sidekick back !😭😭😭
I Love my iPhone. But the original Razor was still my favorite. I even paid extra for space gray.
i missed the old days where we have Nokia with symbian OS and XpressMusic, Sony Ericsson Walkman K series and P1, Blackberry with trackpad before they use touchscreen, Motorola.. i mean days before where all Phones brand has their own OS instead now theres only 2 major OS Android and iOS.. i think we all already just bored with this OS
The companies be like hurry up update the flip phones so they have spy capabilities.
out here having sleepless nights everyday 😑
Same too :(
It’s so distracting
I’ve been saying for a long time these are the only phones parents should get for their kids. It would solve so many problems! It would:
- eliminate the use of phones during class (which has become a huge problem in schools)
- reduce the access to social media (which had proven to be harmful for kids)
- make kids actually talk and play with each other more (instead of texting)
- still allow for communication in an emergency (which seems to be parents’ main argument for why their kid needs a cell phone)
Kids don’t need smart phones. They just need a basic phone for communication. This is it. It still exists people!
Im tempted to start using the sidekick again. Best phone of all time hands down!
So that’s why I have recommended TH-cam videos about reminiscing on our childhood experiences! And this is it!
I like my smartphone. But I'd happily use it as wifi only and only during business hours. The remaining 2/3 of the day, I don't need all those apps. I'm good with shutting it off and letting all the companies trying to track me eat silence.
Yes, I've considering this for years.
I want to get a pager again. A player can’t get tracked down unless he wants to be 😂
I remember having a flip phone in one pocket and a digital camera in the other pocket. Great times!!🎉
Still better than using social media on smartphones. These flip phones need to come back.
I love their whole energy.
I have a flip phone along with 16 different smartphones. I always wondered how much of an upgrade they would get if they stuck around long enough. They are definitely getting major upgrades.
This is especially useful when driving since there’s less to run on demand.
Why not just delete your Instagram app?
Cause there's still many distractions, and predatory games, also internet not filtered for kids
That's like forcing a alcoholic in a bar and say "just don't drink" People really underestimate how addicting these social media apps can be
I’ve owned 3 basic phones from Verizon before I switched to Straight Talk 10 years ago and I still remember my very first phone which was a LG VX5400 flip phone.
I’m not into these new age smartphone flip phones at all which are more vulnerable in the middle with folding glass. If I were to get any flip phones I’d take the old school style any day
It's not a phone issue, it's a self control issue. You can remove the apps you spend too much time on.
Well, when the immune system isn't strong, you gtaa rely on antibiotics. So...
Agree. I have "smart" phone and I only use it to call or text. Occasionally take pictures and videos and google something. I never understood why everyone was always looking at their phone. I mean people are staring at their phones while riding a bike, crossing the streets, driving, eating out, when they are with other people. It's madness really.
Yes. For some people, its really hard to close tiktok or instagram. Its an addiction
while us watching this on our phones and those who use it promote it on tiktok and some commenting here they don't have social media but they're commenting on youtube. so broken
People do have computers ya know 🤦🏿♂️
@@Zenguy89 very convenient how everyone here has a computer which they can still access social media on very easily
Bring back the T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009!!
