This should be the standard for every kid in school, until they get to college. Social media is destroying the younger generation. Now, don't get me wrong. I was addicted to my razor as a kid, but we didn't have even 80% of the things now offered in smart phones.

Would be for parents to stay off of social media themselves & focus on paying attention to their own children instead of ignoring them by babbling a bunch of nonsense BS with their so-called friends & people they've never even met yet in life. That's the best answer if I do say so myself. Just saying... Not that all of these tech devices & cell phones aren't a big part of the problem, but IDGAS what anybody says, "It Starts In The Home, Period." If parents, family members, friends & neighbors in the community would just stop & do the right thing to help instill a few common moral values & principles into kid's. Liar. Very few landlines still use the old copper wires. Most landlines are VoIP. Meaning no power, no internet, no landline. If your landline is bundled with internet or cable, odds are good that your phones used VoIP. During Snowmageddon 2021 in Texas, we had no power, no internet, no landlines. HOWEVER, if you had a smartphone with enough of a charge, and attempted to use it at odd times at night, like 2 in the morning, what little service you had, you could actually use, because most people were asleep.

International calls to cell phones cost a few cents per minute as someone has to pay for the call. The ONT (optical network terminator) has a little 4" cube that is a UPS. The phone works for more than 30 hours in a power failure. So does the Internet as long as your laptop has a charge. Somewhat funny that all you have to do is log out of those social media apps. A smart phone is a swiss army knife of dozens of tools that can be very useful. No self control? Then yea go with the classics.

Problem is that one cannot use the OLD phones, as they were all 2G/3G only, which is now being switched off worldwide. One has to get a NEW old style dumb phone, that is 4G/5G frequency capable.

I’ve been saying for a long time these are the only phones parents should get for their kids. It would solve so many problems! It would:
    - eliminate the use of phones during class (which has become a huge problem in schools)
    - reduce the access to social media (which had proven to be harmful for kids)
    - make kids actually talk and play with each other more (instead of texting)
    - still allow for communication in an emergency (which seems to be parents’ main argument for why their kid needs a cell phone)
Kids don’t need smart phones. They just need a basic phone for communication. This is it. It still exists people!

Shoot , there's no way i would switch from have my smartphone to having an old-school flip phone , a smartphone is extremely useful because it has the ability to play music and give me access to my medical records from my doctors in an app and it does things that a flip phone can't do such as getting info about something that you take a picture of which you don't have any idea what it is.
If people are making a switch to flip phones then they're just on social media entirely too much and need to stop and think about what better things they could be doing with their time instead of being on social media 24/7.
