    Great! Thanks a lot for the reaction to this song. One of my favorites from Be'lakor. :) Nice that you liked it too. :)
    As Alena said, it seems simpler than "An Ember's Arc", but it is very catchy. It is a kind of more repeatable as Alena mention, but more predictable too. Nice to hear that Brad also noticed the small ghost notes the drummer does in some of the sections.
    I have read the lyrics, but have not tried to dig into it. Your breakdown is good and interesting. You might be right.
    This album is my favorite from them. All songs are very good.
    Thank you again, Brad and Alena. :) Really appreciate it.

      I don’t rhink «Stone’s Reach» is a concept album, because when they made «Vessels», they said that they wanted to make a concept album. So that means they had not done it before. 😊

      About the cover, it is of Perseus with the Head of Medusa. The story was that who looked at her was turned to stone. Maybe that have something to do with the title of the album

    Glad to see this. Be'lakor is one of the best acts in melodic death metal today. They don't have a bad song. What I love about them is each song is like a poem. They don't follow traditional song structures most of the time. If you want more, I recommend the song "The Smoke of Many Fires". They have a lyric video which will help you both follow along with the lyrics as you listen and it tells an amazing (but sad) story.

      Totally agree with you 😊👍 I could not said it better 😊 «The Smoke of Many Fires» was on my list of suggestions. But since it is the last song on the Vessels album, I think they will wait for the album reaction with that. But it is an awesong song too 😊👍

    Be'Lakor is amazing, one of my fave bands, If im going to suggest something from then, that is not from Vessels, its "Abeyance" and "Fraught" from their third album "Of Breath and Bone".

    • @jwalldal
      @jwalldal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, there is a handful songs on both "Stone's Reach" and "Of Breath and Bone" they should check out at some point :D
      "Remnants" and "The Dream and the Waking" is also good from "Of Breath and Bone". And maybe "In Parting"

      Totally agree with you, @fingers. Probably my favorite band as well. I have tried to suggest Be’lakor for a lot of reactors, but they ignore them. That is a big shame, because I am convinced that they would have been surprised and would love them. 😉

    Perhaps give the live performance "Fraught" 2012 at Summer Breeze a go.
    It's absolutely amazing how good his vocals are live.

    Seeing these good reactions to Melodeath I think Amorphis and Dark Tranquillity are a must do for you guys! Insomnium - While we sleep is also amazing. Should just go for anything Scandinavian. Just throw a dart at anything (but In Flames after 2008) and you'll hit a bullseye.

    metal reaction and your wife doesnt like scream or growl. Ok, sure.

    • @BradAlenaMetalReactions
      @BradAlenaMetalReactions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For most of us, liking growls and screams is a process, right? I certainly didn't just wake up one day and love harsh vocals. There were gateway bands that got me used to it over many years. She's only at the starting point, having just started hearing harsh vocals for the first time. One of the reasons for the channel is to expose her to it, so she can get used to it. Already I can see in a few months that she's way more comfortable with harsh vocals than she used to be.

    • @maxgorbachev2564
      @maxgorbachev2564 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BradAlenaMetalReactions thats the point. When you learn how to play a guitar, you first learn simple things. Be'lakor isnt simple. You need some kind of metal luggage to fully understand this kind of music. So why dont you start with metallica or something? (not native speaker, sorry)

    • @BradAlenaMetalReactions
      @BradAlenaMetalReactions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem - your English is perfectly fine Max :)
      Well we're doing a range of songs. There's stuff with mixed high quality growls and cleans like Opeth or certain Slipknot. Or Ne Obliviscarus (probably her favourite song so far, even though they have a big chunk of harsh vocals). We've done more easily accessible stuff like Metallica, Nightwish and Tool. Some stuff was right at her limit at the time like Gojira and Jinjer. We mix it up and see what she likes and what she doesn't. We've very quickly found out that she likes the progressive stuff that's very complicated and nuanced instrumentally. So that's great. Now we'll just keep trying different things and see what she likes and how her tastes evolve as she hears more.
      She really, really liked the instrumentals of Be'lakor. We loved the story in "An Ember's Arc" are so we plan to do a full album reaction to the "Vessels" album. So yes she didn't love the harsh vocals but she loved everything else enough to want to listen to a full concept album :)

    • @maxgorbachev2564
      @maxgorbachev2564 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BradAlenaMetalReactions thanks for answer. From my point of view there are a lot of bands who dont use harsh vocals and still can be counted as true metal, like Katatonia. My first metal band were In flames, and I really liked their newest stuff untill I realised that the old stuff is the thing everyone loved them. So i'm saying it's the long process, don't need to push your preferences to anyone.

    • @BradAlenaMetalReactions
      @BradAlenaMetalReactions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's not a case of pushing preferences. It's just trying as range of things and seeing what she likes. I had personally never gotten into Nightwish or some of the classic 80's metal but we've tried some of that too. I'm also broadening my metal horizons as we go along and hearing bands for the first time - like Be'lakor.
