@@CommentNeo I guess Prof Bakshi best person to mediate Because i heard he mentioned many time Naseem quote on every talk..Like optionality fragility black swan etc
If u apply wht he says to jnu students it makes sense. Phd before any real experience leads to joblessness, unemployment bc they r aged n unemployable.
This is a superb speaker! And an excellent conversation. We need people like this and those who understand that the biggest failure is not to a take a risk at all.
Everything Taleb said went over the head of the last fellow, amazed at how taleb handled the question without being pissed at this idiocy lol EDIT: I think Taleb should've mentioned the importance of autonomy to the tinkerers along with astigmatizing failure. The fellow is the typical stereotype of the Indian parent, this concept is just so alien to him lol
I was thinking about how to increase anti-fragility in my life and society: * Goals should be super flexible * when i make oatmeal i randomly put spices on the corners so that it tastes different depending on bite * anti-fragile programming / computers - programs should be some sort of evolutionary algorithm and be based on quantum or fuzzy values. programs should not only calculate what you tell them to do but they should also calculate several permutations of the program where you add, delete, and rearrange stuff. these kind of programs can help prevent "infinite loops". they may also avoid api hell. the computers have to have a lot of redundancy calculation potential and be more like brain neuron nets than RAM + CPU. * anti-fragile game design - perhaps everything in the game should evolve depending on the player's involvement in the game. *
The premise of the varna question is completely incorrect Earlier the brahmin community was the tinkerer and inventors, not todays mumbo jumbo fatso pandits then the kshatriya who risked themselves in warfare then vaishyas or traders and then shudras who used to do menial jobs(comparable to today's cleric and other such workers)
Please bring Nassim again and again, a lot to learn from him. However, just take such Moderator away from discussion, he is spoiling the time by asking irrelevant, out of the context and biased question (after 30 minutes).
Margaritas Ante Porcos, Mr Taleb Pearls before swine. Your intellect and brilliance were wasted on this audience. I wouldn't be surprised if half of them were too busy taking notes to actually process the ideas being presented. A nation of note makers and exam takers

How many government colleges are there today compared to private? Is there merit in private colleges and schools? Why do we forget the SC kid has to compete with other SC kids. So the best amongst the SC ger the seat. TN has 60 % reservation. Its a better state compared to many BIMARU states. Telangana, AP, Karnataka has 50% reservations. They are better states.
Hmm.. I'd disagree with how Korea progressed. It started with education and the pervasive sentiment across the entire country that education was the most important thing for a country. I know personally because my grandfather was a professor. Then the economy boomed which allowed more education for the masses. Education led the way first by bold men and women that instilled the thirst and hunger to build a strong foundation.
Most useless host in interview he can't listen and came with own agenda china ,varna system and get political view from NNT to diminish the india ...NNT only came here for publication of his book not came for giving any political view on india..host is the kind of person that taleb hated the most
Right Person, Wrong Audience
Ya You are correct... I was thinking too
And a wrong Interviewer too. Should have found someone who actually read and understood any of Taleb's books

@abdul hakkeem - yes.
Prof. Sanjay Bakshi / Amit verma / Vivek kaul
We need him to talk to this audience ten times more
"If you are judged by evolutionary pressures, you are subjected to different dynamics then if you are judged by peers." Amazing insight.
One of the smartest people on the globe!
If u apply wht he says to jnu students it makes sense. Phd before any real experience leads to joblessness, unemployment bc they r aged n unemployable.
We will have to bring Marcus Aurelius and Seneca from the other worlds to understand the depth of Naseem’s ideas. Pure genius!
Starts at 03:36 & Ends at 48:20
Taleb starts talking @ 03:36. Skip the intro. It's a waste of time.
you sir, are a good man!
Unless you are the speaker of course.
A mighty lion in a room full of brainless chickens
Gosh this popped up in my feed.. I have 2 of his books... Delighted to see him here in India... Glued to this vid...

* Culture of tinkering, * Optionality, * Skin in the game, * Make failing non shameful
The audience till the end didn't get what is the role of an individual failing and society in the growth of the economy.
A country where education is way overhyped, Audience doesn’t deserve NNT.
Better way to put is ...its the way to start...look forward

Thank you ET for sharing the wonderful video.
On reservation he says, it is like giving handicap to people, a stigma. It is better to give them respect through other means.

The poor sound quality and people’s reception are small examples of why India will stay as it is.
Taleb is one Of the smartest men on earth...he has very poor opinion about ‘economists’...people like Amarteya Sen have no skin in game....t
Great mind

I don't understand what is the need to ask him since he himself admit he doesn't know about India. Why ask about reservation with him.

Nassim is gradually acting like the academics he has criticized.

50% is the highest ceiling for reservations mandated by the Supreme court, stop making figures out of your head.
@@thesnakecharmer2531 check why TN has 69% or more than 50 % before talking about my head my friend. ☺️
causation =/= correlation.
