Yeah, it basically started as a semi-serious parody of cookie cutter slasher flicks...and then it forgot the face of its father and turned into another one of those movies.

It’s also funny to note that originally Trevor WAS intended to be Jill’s partner until a last minute script change, which is explains a lot throughout the movie, like his convent timing & Ghost Face’s strength

I like the idea of Trevor committing the murders as a means to “impress” Jill in an attempt to win her back. And her kinda being down with it all, becoming his accomplice and helping him tie up loose ends.
In the end, they get away with it. In a sequel, they’re terrorized by a Ghostface who knows their secret. Kirby!
Cinema sin: They use duct tape to tie up Trevor. Forensics would find that residue and be like, this guy was tied up

The Scream Franchise is my favorite of all time. I know the sequels vary in quality but in to me, so long as the ride is fun, I'm ok with certain things not making sense. They're cheesy, dumb, gaslight the hell out your suspension of disbelief, and often become the very thing it's mocking; and I love it. And that final line from Sydney? Chief's kiss.

@@siriusql I did enjoy the fifth one, but not as much as I wanted to. The characters were a bit annoying, the thing they tried to do with “elevated horror” fell a little flat. But the kills were nice and gory, the pace was great, and Sid was a bad ass as usual.
Wow! I don’t often see people saying nice things about 5cream. I personally thought it was a good flick. I liked 4 better but I think a lot of that was just because I liked Jill (as a character) more than Tara. I also love the absurdity of tiny, 90 lbs Jill being Ghostface. It’s refreshing to see others enjoy these movies! 😊
I can't believe that only 5 Scream movies have been released since 1996.
If this franchise were launched in the 80's, there would have already been 7 sequels - with only the original, and the third or fourth being good - before the turn of the decade.

Minor? The out of place lamp,Robbies ear and extra piece of toast changed the Movie for me. What you call minor I call layered
Example. 2 pieces of toast were clearly for the 2 victims. IE: “You’re toast”

Although I loved the twist of Jill being Ghostface, I cracked up when you added 10 sins for how unrealistic her and Charlie being the killers are.
This movie is a red hot mess, but I appreciate the sin removals for Roger Jackson and Kirby.
Henry winklers death in the original wasn’t pointless-getting everyone to go to the football field to see his body was the best way to get the party cleared out which they needed to do to focus on the main cast in the third act/facilitate billy and stu’s plan to kill Sydney and frame her dad

They decided after the fact that they could use his death to clear the house of teenagers. But in the audio commentary, Wes said that he was told there was a long stretch in the middle of the movie where nobody dies, so he had to film a kill somewhere in there. Henry Winkler was game.
Himbry’s death wasn’t actually in the original script, Williamson was glad Wes was able to come up with an idea to explain why the students all left the party, leaving only Sidney, Randy, Billy, and Stu.

Dude kicking ghostface in well the face was fing badass. I'm glad her character grew. I knew he complained about her carrying a gun but she was prepared.

4:18 The Final Destination joke was in reference to so many people dying around Sidney. She's the final destination, as in the last thing people see/go to before they die. It wasn't actually referencing the content of the Final Destination movies, just the name.
The only point of the Final Destination comment was to have the Final Destination Jump Scare that followed (almost deadly car collision).
No sin for Sidney, Kirby and Jill all running away from the killer together instead of taking him on 3 on 1?? I mean Sid herself single-handily mangled him earlier.

IKWYDLS and Final Destination were also instrumental in the making of Scary Movie, and they gave us some funny lines. Like didn't Cindy get hit by a bus right at the end of the first movie? That was kinda funny.
Fun fact: that incredibly pointy though seemingly pointless lamp was actually Ghostface's original murder weapon, but it came within earshot of Trevor's ear and that suspiciously parked school bus thereby essentially making it the third slice of toast that was previously two slices of toast.

12:33. I actually had a health teacher, who was also the film appreciation teacher, and he had posters of
Momento, and John Capenters The Thing in his classroom. The current film appreciation teacher had posters for other films such as Lord of the Rings, Avengers Endgame, Rocky, and My Farr Lady. Not to mention cardboard cutouts of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's and Legales. So yes this is possible.
They meant it more from a quality standpoint.

I feel like I have a decent memory… but the way you connect so many threads, reference so many other movies and keep track of all the little details genuinely blows my mind.

Jill had already stabbed Charlie in the heart and make sure he was dead and then she just stabs Sidney once on her right flank, a non fatal wound and then Jill just assumed Sydney was dead and threw herself on the crystal table

Sidney's been through this so many times that she "knows" Jill is going to mess up..and she does.. she stabs her but doesn't kill her. So, Sidney was right. Foreshadowing is actually a clever writing technique so I wouldn't say that was badly written.

Man, Kirby is way too good of a character to just be in one Scream movie. Now that they have confirmed her still being alive I really hope she comes back 🤞🏼🤞🏼

The final showdown in the hospital is a complete mess. Dewey says that Sydney is a critical patient and the doctors aren't even sure if she's going to make it... But then when we see her, she's fully conscious, not in the ICU, and not even hooked up to any monitors or receiving any medications.
I know she couldn't have been shown in the ICU because then Jill couldn't have come in and done all that BS, but they should've just had Dewey say "Sydney pulled through" and left it at that.
I just watched the film a few hours ago and when I first saw that scene I thought that Dewey knew Jill was involved and was trying to bait her to come out. Apparently that wasn't the case.

They had to say "She's touch and go" to explain why she hasn't just told them Jill is the killer. Kevin didn't write that scene; they made it up last minute when Bob Weinstein said he didn't want an open ending in case there's no sequel. It originally ends with Jill being treated as a hero and then hearing that Sidney has survived.
@@MrGoodluck1212 The last scene was supposed to be Jill being considered a hero and then hearing that Sidney survives, cutting to credits and setting up the sequel where Jill would be living like a hero but targeted by a Ghostface who knows the truth about her. But Bob Weinstein didn't want the film to end on a cliffhanger in case there was no sequel and they quickly wrote the dumb hospital scene to be conclusive. And the "Sidney's touch and go" is a way to explain why she didn't just tell them Jill was the killer.

One thing you gotta love about the SCREAM franchise is the fact that it was THE franchise that single-handedly saved the horror film industry from the fiery grave of bad sequels/remakes only to inevitably fall into its own grave of bad sequels and remakes.

That really goes for most horror movie killers. Freddy, Jason, Michael, Pinhead, etc. all mix up the method of killing so much that an investigator might have a hard time believing each movie's kills were done by one person.

It's seriously frustrating hearing that everywhere by people who I guess want to sound smarter than they think they would just saying "raises the question" (although, ironically, they sound dumber to anyone who knows about it). Once heard can't be unheard.
I can’t say that I’ve ever heard “begs the question” in real life. However, I very often hear/read “could care less” and it’s more annoying than the frequent misuse of the word “literally”. I feel your pain. 😂

Actually, there have been plenty of cases where a killer has harmed themselves to look like they were the victim. So, Jill jumping onto that glass table makes sense.
