I legit felt so stupid for not realizing he loved Eddie like that. Even with the R+E carving. I’m ashamed. It took me reading an article dedicated to them for it to finally click.
Richie loved Eddie as a best friend, nothing more. The latent homosexual subtext select people (shocker) are reading into it doesn't exist; if you read the book, you'd know that.
one of my major problems with the movie is that literally throughout the entire movie everyone is so upset over stan but eddie dies and pretty much only richie actually mourns his death. everyone else starts laughing and joking and ben and bev literally kiss. it's ridiculous.
unalive literally! And even with Stan, everyone’s upset for like three minutes. Richie’s literally sat there sobbing and Bill’s like ‘ok what if i was annoying’ and splashes him, and Bev and Ben kiss after going under water to look for Richie’s glasses that are literally covered in Eddie’s blood. Justice for Eddie, man
They did comfort him, they were all heartbroken about Eddie's death, then Richie lost his glasses, so they went to look for them and then that's when Ben and Bev kissed
Becca Gregory okay sure but honestly kissing right after they comforted Richie right after he saw someone he loved die right on top of him (I’m not sure if he loved him romantically but I’m pretty sure. It isn’t clearly stated) it’s just sorta ridiculous how one person lost the love of their life (proven by the carving R+E on the white fence) and these other two start kissing right after while he’s literally depressed
the thing that tickles me off the most is the fact that the most important trait of It that's shown in both movies are "it can't kill you if you don't fear it" but it literally gained the trust of both the little girl and georgie before murdering them.
I am 3 whole years late but oh well. That's not the case, it can kill anyone at anytime and eat them, it's just that it'll be bland and disgusting. A bit like unseasoned boiled chicken, gives all the benefits, but not tasty by any means. It scared them because they are tastier with fear; the fear is basically the seasoning or/and the sauce to the boiled chicken. Georgie and the little girl were both killings early on when it first woke up, so it's really just food to give energy and later on he'll eventually build up his appetite.
I think it depends on how you want it to be said. When you add _cist_ it adds a "c" sound like ra(cist). But when you have _ist_ it has no "c" sound, like rac(ist).
The whole time I was watching this I assumed “I didn’t like the ending” was a joke, only after I finished the movie did I realize it was foreshadowing, because holy f*ck that boss fight sucked
It's the shower caps they wore when they were hanging out in their little underground base. I think Stan mentioned in that scene how he actually felt like he belonged to something
About the token thing: Many people have theorized that the ritual actually DID work, but the thing is that Richie's token was actually Eddie instead of the arcade token.
Just saying, Bev's stall harassers, those WERE from Bev's history, the daughter of the pharmacist is her biggest bully, the pharmacist was sexually harassing her how are these Eddies issues not hers
I loved this movie but I didn’t think it was scary. Every time I would begin to get creeped out, someone would crack a joke and I would start laughing. Bill Hader is a gem
i really liked the movie, but yeah the scares didn't get me all that much. a few jump scares got me, but they were quick and didn't last long. the horror and some of the plot isn't really the strongest, but what the plot lacks the actors make up for in chemistry and humor. i only really enjoy the movie for the characters and relationship aspects - i really wish there were better scares though.
Jayden gay just goes to show space turtles is a better explication than no explanation, especially when it has to do with the main plot device of your movie
I mean, the book also features a library Dracula that chomps pieces of its own face and flesh with razor blade-aided teeth and sprays the blood onto the unsuspecting patrons below, so I let the turtles slide.
I've never read the book, but "space turtles" are a legit Native American belief. or maybe a singular cosmic turtle that holds the world/galaxy/universe on it's shell. Not much different than believing in an omnipotent God, or Satan, and Xenu, etc.

Robert Martin I personally found the sins a bit nitpicky this time around. He missed one BIG sin I had with the film - the strange decision in the film to have Stan commit suicide as some kind of heroic sacrifice, rather than Stan just being too terrified to return or confront It again.
@@peanutsfansontario4 that's literally in every version of IT the books, mini series, and the movies everyone stan commits suicide. Um everyone in the bathroom stall scene with Bev DID have a mental impact on her (rewatch the first chapter if you need a review but I'll do my best here). The girl dumped trash all over Beverly during the last day of school, and the way it played out in the first film implied that these were girls that had bullied her for the entire duration of that school year (feel free to add an extra sin here for 'bully cliché'). The pharmacist was flat out creepy pedophile material during the scene where Bev purposefully distracts him so that the losers can steal bandages and crap for Ben. Henry Bowers is.....well Henry Bowers, but also played a major part in spreading rumors that Beverly would sleep with anyone. And THEN her father was just a horrible abusive dickwad. I'm not denying that most these people gave Eddie a hard time, but Eddie wasn't the sole target. These people hassled Beverly (I assume with countless others in Derry) simply because 'Killing extraterrestrial clowns' didn't make it on their 'To do' list, and they had no other hobbies to fill their time.
Her current husband is the other dark haired adult that appears and flicks his toungue at her. Wish I had seen this before posting my comment. Glad I wasn't the only one who sinned CS for that shit
All of the people in the bathroom stall scene were actually pretty relevant to Beverly. She sees the pharmacist was because he hit on her when she was younger, she sees Greta (I think that was her name) is because she was constantly bullied by her, she sees Henry Bowers because he hunted her and her friends down and tried to kill them, and she sees her ex boyfriend/husband because he abused her. And of course we all know why she sees her dad, but all of those people were apart of the trauma she faced growing up in some way. Personally though, the first movie was a lot better. It was scarier and seemed to have more details. Chapter Two was great, but not as great. And the ending where Pennywise turns into a baby and melts was hilarious. I couldn't even take that part seriously. XD
19:15 all of those people were Bev's psychological tormentors too though. They all played a part in making her fear her femininity and sexuality, especially her dad, which is why he was last.
banananutmuffin I never really thought the pharmacist tormented her, unless there was something else in the book that had more impact than Bev’s little flirt to help the Losers steal the stuff to help Ben. Otherwise, it was an incredibly powerful scene.
@@winterquinnhawkings yeah but like, she knew that already didn't she? @@ElegantArtist123 Excuse you??? Adrian Mellon is directly based off of Charlie Howard, who was brutally MURDERED in 1984, while his friend (whom those homophobes assumed was his boyfriend) was forced to watch. This happened in Kings hometown when he had just started writing It. Derry is specifically a fiction version of his hometown, where that event took place. He felt the need to include this because it shows how humans can absolutely be monsters too. THAT is why this is important & your snide comment does nothing to help anyone.
"Actual hate crime" Hate crimes are a myth and simply saying that phrase shows that you've been manipulated emotionally by authority and are now acting as an agent of their own(attempting to make other believe that "hate crimes" are a thing separate from crime in itself) Unless you just innocently didn't think into it that much (it's a common enough phrase, I wouldn't call someone an idiot for saying it, would only correct and inform them on it), and that's perfectly fine(who has time to analyze a phrase as common as "hate crime", I get that merely repeating it doesn't necessarily show any intent, the RESPONSE to this comment is what MIGHT make me say "oh you're one of THOSE people.... yikes" but honestly I have no reason to think that from this comment chain)
Kinda mad that he didnt acknowledge Eddies death, like that should be a sin removel for Bill Haders acting cause Richie is devistaded and its just beautiful acting on Bill Haders part.
I liked it better with Part 1 where they were confronting their fears, instead of now saying it's not real and just bullying him...Part 1 was more powerful in that aspect
So this is how I interpreted it: Pennywise essentially created his own Achilles heel. While becoming smaller things to trick children and make them fear him, he didn’t ever think that adults who aren’t scared of those things anymore would come back for him. They don’t see him as this big eater of worlds, and they never have. No one has. He isn’t that powerful to them. Pennywise has made himself strong by making himself small, yet only he and the losers and the tribe know of his “eater of worlds” title.
Most people are afraid of something that can destroy an entire world like Pennywise claims he can do, but he’s never proven that he can. He’s only ever proven that he can be a shapeshifter to scare people and feed. He can’t scare the losers with a title he’s never proven to live up to.
Fyi, in the book it's explained that they were all successful as a direct result of their contact with It. I actually wish the adaptation was better because almost all the sins are answered in the book
@@Hanmacx More that they were blessed by a space turtle, except Mike because the turtle is racist. It's just because Mike chose to stay and "hold the fort."
That's the trouble with adapting books into movies. There's only so much that can by conveyed by film, and unfortunately, sometimes the movies' makers add shit that wasn't necessary and leave out shit that would have made the movies more faithful.
He missed the fact that Mr. Keene is in Bev's horror moment because he was a creepy old man who literally flirted with a teenager??? That, and Rowling has literally said Bogagarts were inspired in part by Pennywise, just makes me wish he did his research before he made these.
That's why I think they're in there. I know the nineties version people freaked out about how lame the spider was. But, at least the spider was cannon from the book. Clown-shaming IT while basically doing the Care Bear stare was the saddest thing I think I've ever seen in a movie. I was pleased with the 1st 2/3s if the film, but if you make me miss a rubber spider from the 1990s because you're trying to "woke" evil to death!? You screwed the pooch, buster. 😒😔👎🤦
@@goldilox369 agreed, i also didnt like the ending because the spider was lame (both new and old) but i actually saw the concept art before the movie so i was HELLA mad when i saw that this freaky ass design was scrapped. have a feeling they changed it so pennywise could talk more.
As a book fan who thought that the Losers forgetting each other in the end was almost beautifully poetic and tragic, I was okay with the choice to have them still remember each other. The use of the “Blood Oath” theme but changed up slightly, plus the shots of the kids was a masterful choice. I DID NOT like that Stan’s suicide was turned into this heroic sacrifice so the others could defeat It, though. It seemed very forced and frankly, made no sense. They set up his fear perfectly in the previous film, especially with the scene where he is separated and hunted by It, with It gnawing on his face as that lady he kept seeing. It looked like he caught a bit of the Deadlights when it attacked him and it was perfect setup for his suicide - he saw too much as a child and when he was confronted with the thought of having to return, he is not able to fight the fear any longer and ends his own life rather than be afraid again. Also, the final form and how they defeated It was disappointing. I really wanted to see this Lovecraft horror-spider it was supposed to be and I was ready for It to finally ditch the clown persona. No talking and taunts, just this giant monster-spider trying to kill them. And while I liked seeing them use belief to defeat It, I feel that the way they took it down in both the book and the 1990 miniseries is more satisfying. Just yelling at it to death... not a satisfying end.
Except for The Dark Tower. Which, ironically, is preceeded by several pages of Stephen King literally saying "my endings suck, just pretend this book has no epilogue."
The ending when they get all separated in the chamber is still the Ritual of Chud, it's a battle of wills, from whats explained in the novel it's damn near impossible to bring it to the screen so i think what they managed worked really well.
The "come on, lets get out of here before this ends worse than one of Bill's books" should've been a sin off, one of the funniest lines of this movie and it's slept on
If they hadn't ran that line into the ground it probably would have been noticed more. I mean it was certainly the funniest mentioning of it, but it was said like a dozen times at least by multiple characters. After the Stephan King cameo also doing that bit, it was just dead and not worth mentioning anymore.

20:57 it absolutely was "a thing in the novel" they actually abused the morphing of IT effect to change IT into variously different creatures with weaknesses that could be manipulated. In the book, IT turns into a werewolf, and they greatly injure IT with a silver pellet shot with a slingshot.
You missed one! When Bill asks Mike, “Why aren’t we forgetting?” In the book, they do forget! Just something the movie glossed over to make the ending more happy. And Henry Bowers was originally supposed to put Mike in the hospital, but instead, he had a cheap death...
Wasn't the fight scene in the original mini series a lot closer to the one in the book? I seem to remember Henry stabbing Mike a few times, ending up with him very nearly bleeding to death.
For me its that they water down all the actual horror elements the adult versions go through. Especially Mike and they could've played up how his confrontation between Pennywise leads him feeling outmanned and outgunned how he's being constantly watched and slowly going insane not just with the feeling of Penngwise watching him but also finding out all the horrific stuff that happened in town also the people Mike actually meeting the few people in Derry that have experiences with Pennywise and the evil supernatural occupancies Mike can associate with him. It's like a Noir thing because at the same time multiple children are going missing or being found dead they just fumbled his potential angle into horror so hard.
I like that Eddie was the last token, he was Richie’s token not the arcade coin. It took Eddie dying for the ritual to finally work, the thing Richie was most scared of was losing Eddie.
The parents of Derry being neglectful is explained in detail in the book. Pennywise's presence alters the atmosphere and the mindset of the parents creates this apathetic and cold response to their own children. Even going deeper into why Bill's parents continually were ignorant to him and not showing much emotion over Georgie. Henry getting bailed out by Patrick is in the book too. You have to remember he has lost his mind and is experiencing hallucinations of his dead friends. The problem is the film kind of glossed over it, whereas in the book it goes into much deeper detail, plus his confrontation with Mike and Eddie in the book is better, more brutal, and gives more insight into Henry.
@@twistedwonderland1043 Yes and no. Pennywise typically awakens what's already there with violence. What's stated in the book is when he lures, captures, and feasts on the children of Derry, parents exhibit apathetic behavior from the spirit of Pennywise clouding their minds. If you've been traveling through parallel universes then so have I. I swear to God for a while the comments moved ABOVE the recommended videos, and now they're suddenly back where they're supposed to be. Weird.
I don't know if it was an intended comic relief, but I cried laughing and my sides hurt when they started trashing the Asian restaurant and when Richie started yelling at that kid.
two things : at 18:49 they actually are people who are specific to bev and not eddie. all three of the males objectified and showed sexual intent towards her despite being extremely underage and greta bullied her all through school. also at 21:47 the note spells "loose" incorrectly on purpose to show his frantic mindset and the fact he was losing it. stan is always shown to be meticulous throughout the movies (being the only one to leave his bike stood up, cleaning the blood in straight lines, not being able to resit the urge to straighten judith’s painting etc) so him spelling it wrong is a way of demonstrating that he's not himself and his mental state is fragile enough to change a fundamental part of his personality

one of my major problems with the movie is that literally throughout the entire movie everyone is so upset over stan but eddie dies and pretty much only richie actually mourns his death. everyone else starts laughing and joking and ben and bev literally kiss. it's ridiculous.
unalive literally!
It isn’t clearly stated) it’s just sorta ridiculous how one person lost the love of their life (proven by the carving R+E on the white fence) and these other two start kissing right after while he’s literally depressed

the thing that tickles me off the most is the fact that the most important trait of It that's shown in both movies are "it can't kill you if you don't fear it" but it literally gained the trust of both the little girl and georgie before murdering them.
oh you right though. Wtf is that about?
In the book its not really like that it can kill you it just preferes that you be scared but he was so hungry he was acting desperate

@@kiwuwuwu Could be, probably in the book or something.
XD

"Actual hate crime"
Hate crimes are a myth and simply saying that phrase shows that you've been manipulated emotionally by authority and are now acting as an agent of their own(attempting to make other believe that "hate crimes" are a thing separate from crime in itself)
Unless you just innocently didn't think into it that much (it's a common enough phrase, I wouldn't call someone an idiot for saying it, would only correct and inform them on it), and that's perfectly fine(who has time to analyze a phrase as common as "hate crime", I get that merely repeating it doesn't necessarily show any intent, the RESPONSE to this comment is what MIGHT make me say "oh you're one of THOSE people.... yikes" but honestly I have no reason to think that from this comment chain)
Kinda mad that he didnt acknowledge Eddies death, like that should be a sin removel for Bill Haders acting cause Richie is devistaded and its just beautiful acting on Bill Haders part.
Yeah :/
I still can't believe that they straight just bullied Pennywise to death
I liked it better with Part 1 where they were confronting their fears, instead of now saying it's not real and just bullying him...Part 1 was more powerful in that aspect
Yeah no kidding! It's so...lame. XD
Honestly, expected the final insult to be from Richie, telling Pennywise he looked like a deflated ballsack.
So this is how I interpreted it:
Pennywise essentially created his own Achilles heel.

@lemon lad I honestly liked the spider but I completely agree that the ending was terrible.

For me its that they water down all the actual horror elements the adult versions go through.
It is not just parents IT makes the entire town more violent
@@twistedwonderland1043 Yes and no. Pennywise typically awakens what's already there with violence. What's stated in the book is when he lures, captures, and feasts on the children of Derry, parents exhibit apathetic behavior from the spirit of Pennywise clouding their minds.
His influence practically embraces the community. (Spoiler):
It's only when the Loser Gang bond together to defeat him that Derry is released from Pennywise's grip.
I thought it was victor that got him out of there in the book.
@@griffincantley866 It's been such a long time since I've read the book. Have no intention on reading all of it again.
Who was Victor again?
@@IsaiahRidleyIzzyCinema In this movie version Victor was the bully with blonde hair. In the novel he was killed by IT as Frankenstein's monster. I don't recall who bailed out Henry from the asylum. I read the book years ago and like you I have no intention of rereading it lol
When the skateboarding kid was riding away from Bill, did anyone else think that a car was going to come screaming past and obliterate him?
Yes!
The clown truck from Maximum Overdrive
Yes, I was waiting for it lmaooooo
Oh my god, I thought that too! 🤣
This is me every time some one in a movie runs/walks into the street without looking. About 1/5 of the time, they’re hit. So I’m almost always jumping at nothing XD
"everything wrong with it"
me: wrong with what
andrejoss475 😂
No, not what, It.
wrong with you
@bendy animations I can't tell if you're joking by saying your comment again or being serious
Ah yes, the pronoun game.
I don't think CinemaSins quite understands how Pennywise works
I have read the book twice now and I dont even think King knew how Pennywise "Works"
Oh my god that Mitch McConnell burn was *chef’s kiss* absolutely amazing
“ stranger things have happened” good one
I wouldn’t be surprised, by some twist of fate, that Stranger Things, is a part of the IT universe.
Happy Savage haha it kinda makes sense lol
I kept expecting CinemaSins to comment on how poorly Finn Wolfhard's voice was edited and how it barely fit with the movements of his mouth
Just so you know, the girl that bullied Eddie was the same girl that bullied Bev.
DemonPorkRAWR oh really
Thank you, I wanted to say that.
Don't bother. Cinemasins doesn't give a shit about fact checking.
This should be renamed “me getting angry for 23 minutes”
why
The fact that you didn't remove a sin for that transition scene from adult Eddie to kid Eddie.
Time stam
Richie and Eddie didn't get to be together.

wait this has 50 thumbs up ahhhahahahahahah

4:49 Not really a cliche as an annoying reality. Patients tend to feed off of energy like that and trigger each other's behaviors.
i mean just because its a cliche doesnt mean its bad. its just something used over and over again in movies. its still a cliche though
Not usually. They tend to ignore the person throwing a fit. Just go about their business
Still counts for "everyone in a mental hospital is insane"
18:56 those people interacted with Bev in the first movie. The bully girl harassed bev in that bathroom and dumped trash water on her, bev had to flirt with the pharmacist to help the guys steal bandages for Ben, and Henry made that comment about her doing the devils tango with him right before the rock fight
Does anyone else feel like the comment section has been changing location or have i just been travelling through parallel universes?
If you've been traveling through parallel universes then so have I. I swear to God for a while the comments moved ABOVE the recommended videos, and now they're suddenly back where they're supposed to be. Weird.
Watching this on your phone? Because the app has moved them yes.
Same
Updates are weird
I want your voice in Google Assistant. Exact same accent and speed.
And critical tone and attitude
Honestly id actually use google assistant if it was voiced by jeremy

I CHOKED
I don't know if it was an intended comic relief, but I cried laughing and my sides hurt when they started trashing the Asian restaurant and when Richie started yelling at that kid.
One more sin: When Eddie stabs Henry, the knife is in his solar plexus, but when he pulls it out, the knife is higher on his chest.

*~ Pennywise The Dancing Clown (1990)*
once again we see a millennias-old demon attempt to seduce a child. i thought we learned this lesson with gravity falls.
Doesn't penny-wise feed on fear that's why he killed Adrian
Jamie technically yes, it’s just children taste better than adults.
@@sophiestyles8368 Okay Chris Evans
@@sophiestyles8368 Woah thats sus

two things : at 18:49 they actually are people who are specific to bev and not eddie. all three of the males objectified and showed sexual intent towards her despite being extremely underage and greta bullied her all through school. also at 21:47 the note spells "loose" incorrectly on purpose to show his frantic mindset and the fact he was losing it. stan is always shown to be meticulous throughout the movies (being the only one to leave his bike stood up, cleaning the blood in straight lines, not being able to resit the urge to straighten judith’s painting etc) so him spelling it wrong is a way of demonstrating that he's not himself and his mental state is fragile enough to change a fundamental part of his personality
1st one cinema sins got wrong. Second one no that was a typo, your looking way to far into this
banana leaf i can’t remember where i read it (i’ll have a look for it and link it if i do) but i remember seeing a post confirming it was an intentional easter egg
