This can absolutely be effective. I could only floor press for weeks while we were on lock down (took two months for my power rack to ship to the house). When it got here, my bench hadn't gone down; it had actually gone up (315 for reps went from 8 to 10) and I can now bench 405 raw. This definitely works.

THANK YOU! I had to use these at home and i also do dumbbell presses regularly (on a bench) and i never put all this together! I always wondered why I felt better with the db presses... and i was using my back MORE with them to get that explosiveness... but only sometimes using this on my bench.... i cant wait to get this going! WOOOOOHHOOOOO!

Plus - why don’t you have guys coming to train anymore. I’d love to have Maddox talk us through his technique the way Spoto did on here 4 years back. There is so much powerlifting talent around now. Why aren’t you making videos with Dan Bell, john hacck, Amanda Lawrence etc? You were really good at this because you analysed and engaged with those top lifters technically, and discussed what they were up to in an enlightening and informative way without all the bullshit that often goes with it.

I would enjoy a mark bell “history of strength” lots of pictures and maybe some video highlighting the careers of different strength athletes similar to what you did with Ed. They don’t need to be there, but getting their history their achievements and how they evolved the strength game and your perspective would add great depth to the history lesson. You’ve kinda done this on a few podcast

Great video on floor presses! I've been doing these for a while now because they are much easier on the old guy shoulders than regular bench presses. This video has great form tips, though I have to admit I do tap at the bottom instead of coming to a full stop (I'd have to lower the weight to do that).

Ol' Mark Chaillet showed me this exercise way back 25 yrs ago. Great for getting the weight off the chest in an explosive manner. I had to do them in a cage like you are doing but I would use the back of the rack and lay inside it. I used the safety bars so the bar would as even with my chest as it could then get a lift off from a buddy. This exercise does help your bench. And you're so right you have to moan & groan just getting on the floor. LOL

I haven't been able to bench press is a while since I don't have a power rack or bench yet. for the time being I am still doing overhead press, floor press, pendlay rows, push-ups, & weighted push-ups. Is there anything else you would add to help keep my strong in this type of range of motion for when I can start benching again and hopefully I won't have lost all of my bench gains by then?

I just bought a pair of strong sleeves and love them. I only have one little problem with them. I bought a size large since I have 14.5 inch biceps flexed but during training the sleeve tends to eat up the inside of my elbow where the seam is at and ends up looking like I have a rash. Is their anyway to fix that or do I bite the bullet and buy an size XL.
