    So happy to have found this video, Winnie. Question, how do we know which wattage bulb will fit our requirements? Thanks.

    • @WinnieLuthienThye
      @WinnieLuthienThye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i think without being too technical, if you have a few small plants then I think the 15w would be sufficient. For the amt of plants I have in a row, becos of placement and how big the plant is I chose 24w x 3. I probably could do with 1 more 24w so I don't have to move the lamp on the right up and down in turn to shine on the lower plants and the higher plants. If say you have a huge monstera, then probably 36w or even 60w. If i remember correctly, a 24w bulb can have a light area of 1.5m square? something like that. But it also depends on how high your hang your light.

Could anyone that has these bulbs measure the diameter of the widest part and also the height of the bulb (In the E26/E27 model)? Thank you so much in advance!

      Yes! Still using them. Plants are doing great. We had a loooong span of cloudy and rainy season last year. A lot of my plants in the balcony died due to not enough light. But those under the growlights didnt feel the bad days at all. They all continued growing. Normally i would say my balcony is my best plant space but not last year. Im glad i had those lights inside otherwise definitely more casualties.

    Perhaps u can enlighten me on how do these compare to normal LEDs of the same spec? Ie if its both 24W full spectrum. Understand that plants respond better to the blue red hues but if it is full spec, wouldn’t that be back to the normal LED effect?
    For context, i do use alot of growlights and the reading on light meter is comparable with normal LEDs, depending on the distance and wattage. And sansi ones are really pricy. 😅

    • @WinnieLuthienThye
      @WinnieLuthienThye  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely can use LED. I was using LEDs before I used these. I think the difference btw homeLED and growLED is the wider spectrum of blue and red that growLED has to promote vegetation. Im sure if you google LED vs growlights you can get a more extensive answer. Sansi are more expensive, but totally worth it imo not only becos it does what it says, the design and light tone also works perfect for me as i need to integrate growlights into my living space that looks pretty. Of course if you hv a room just for plants, and aesthetics doesnt come into play, then by all means use those huge rectangle ones that growers use. Much cheaper and widely available from other brands.

  • @joseluismunoz470

    How do you deal with their incredible brightness? Walking into a room with these is painful and likely harmful to your eyesight. I got a few of these to go over some flowers I am growing indoors and even though they are below eye level, they are painfully bright.

    Wouldnt you get much more light on your plants if you used reflectors?

    • @WinnieLuthienThye
      @WinnieLuthienThye  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont really know. It could be. But wouldnt it look weird having reflectors all over your living space? At least lights can pass off as part of the decor. That is also the reason why i refuse to install the blue/red growlights all this time and just relied on flourescent bulbs.

    • @Bergwacht
      @Bergwacht 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's nothing to reflect on. The LEDS have optical lenses that focus the light in the right direction.
      It would just be unnecessary work and might even heat up the bulb unnecessarily. I also don't recommend a lampshade with these bulbs!

      @@WinnieLuthienThye I think youtube did it.
      sorry for blaming you
      Measuring lux makes no sense, lux measures the light visible to us humans. You must measure the value of the light that the plants can absorb.
      The determined value PPFD is honest.
      There are recently 1 or 2 apps that can determine this value.
      I don't mention any names, otherwise youtube will think I'm advertising and delete my comment.

      It’s the 36W version that don’t last long if you look at the reviewer’s info. Unfortunately they didn’t separate the reviews of the light bulb versions. The reviews could be inaccurate like the one review that installed the bulb in a reflector causing it to overheat. I just ordered the 36w. I’ll update in about a year or less if it dies early.
