You forget if you haven't listened to certain pieces of music for a while .. how utterly transcendent they are. You remember that you loved them, but you forget the involuntary response in your body. There is something in certain pieces of music to which not just your nervous system and your emotions respond .. but your very cells do as well. This piece of music has ALWAYS brought me to tears ... of Joy.

It's still the most deeply heartfelt expression of human aspiration that has ever been created in musical form. It asks if humanity can ascend to great acts, and then answers in glorious affirmation. It actually makes me feel happy to be a part of the human race, the part that embraces grand achievement and destiny.

After the awful pandemic time when such concerts and singing was forbidden, it was all the more uplifting that I was able to participate in a performance of Beethoven's 9th in the new Concert Hall in Basel/Switzerland this December. I cannot describe the feelings of even a "humble" choir member, the pride to be part of such a wonderful joint effort, you are catapulted into another dimension.

BRavov, i particularly enjoyed the Concert For Ukraine as well. Particularly poignant in these difficult times, to realise a nation was invaded. slava Ukraine.

My one and favorite work of art amongst the three that have inspired me growing up (the other two being the new testament and The principia). Im a music lover and a pessimist and selfcritic by nature, but whenever I feel like sh*t, I remember that a human being, flawed as me, with as much selfdoubt as me (if not more), decided in his final years to pass on a life lesson of hope and a sugestion that we transcend ourselves to become better then we are. Just beautifull Herr Beethoven. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your final symphony has sustained me in many times of inner turmoil and allowed me to stop the temptation of giving up, raising my spirits instead. Thank you thank you

This video never fails to lift my spirits into the heavens and beyond. (And I'm not even a devoted "fan" of classical music.) I always watch all the way to the end to see the beautiful range of emotions reflected on Mr. Blomstedt's face. That is where the "double fugue" starts. The two themes in the double fugue are variations of the main theme and the march theme; they are on a faster beat so it is not so obvious. I can't imagine any other composer, Bach excluded, achieving such a feat. Considering that Beethoven was almost completely deaf by the time he composed this, it is nothing less that superhuman, divine perhaps.

I do not remember the name of the composer, nor any details about the disc, aside from the name of one song, which I think was called "Immortal" and the store I placed it down next to may have been called "Reverie." It's been four years since I've been able to listen to music on disc, because after I contacted the Secretary General's Office, requesting humanitarian support, voices started coming through the player, and the disc started skipping.
