Hello from Texas City, TX. My mother passed away this past year and she loved sunflowers. So I have decided to try to plant some in remembrance of her. Thank you your video gave me ideas. 😊
Beautiful 😍we love sunflower. Very nice neighborhood. Yummy fruit but can’t pick 😜. Awesome video. Love sunflower field. Thanks for sharing. Like and joined support 🙏👍
Haha well I think its either a "gold" sunflower, but someone pointed out it might verywell be a “Russian Mammoth” although im not so sure because it was only 6 feet tall
here to support. I make sunflower videos too. Could be a generic gold sunflower that you planted. Try growing Tall Orange Sunflowers / Teddy Bear. They are my favorite and so fluffy. I'm currently working on my mega sunflower video showing all the unique ones I planted (about 50) I'm aiming for about 200 sunflowers this fall. Take care
Good luck with your sunflowers! My mammoth sunflower got pollinated with junk sunflowers from the side of the road, and I planted my seeds in the new season, they grew 8 feet tall, but with many tiny little heads, I need to get some new mammoth sunflower seeds
Will you plant closer to house next time to get a different view face on, since its facing so close to the fence, or are you happy with it? Just curious! Helianthus annuus is what google lens brought up for the flower in your yard... Do you use google lense to identify plants? Im starting to... But it can be hit or miss. 🤣 I tried identifying a rotting plant leaf and it brought up shrimps.... 🤣🤣🤣
I was thinking along the west side fence (that gets the most sunlight in summer) for next year's sunflower spot, and I've used google, but sometimes I dont get a super clear response, im also seeing this for Helianthus annus - www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=hean3 Which could be the type of sunflowers by the pond Either way, appreciate your support Victoria!
We will have to check out that farm, we're right in Georgetown and I haven't heard of it yet! Would love to see a video about harvesting some of those wild sunflowers. We have so many in the fields up here and I've been thinking about getting some cuttings or seeds to replant but I wouldn't know what to do with them!
Cool tour, I imagine that place might be why one of my Austin Apartment-neighbors had planted giants in the native-sunflowers outside our apt-fence. You should try Zinnia flowers if you haven't yet. Their blooms last far longer than sunflowers & are quite vibrant-colored.
Thanks for sharing the video, I also live in the DFW area of Texas. I'm going to be planting a variety of edible sunflowers this next year in 2023 for myself and the chickens. Any growing or fertilizer tips to share for a first timer?
Sunflowers are known to grow in any soil quality, even dense clay soil without issues. However they need lots of (preferably) well draining water. I’ve had success with them two springs in a row now (kinda) several seeds germinated this spring, but my dog ate them all
@@AustinTexasGardening, Thank You and Happy Year, I'm going to try to grow a few edible varieties this year. Look up hoss tools, they have several types. And just the other day they were talking about them on their TH-cam channel.

I love that to you a ‘couple seeds’ also equals ‘30’. 😂So I’m curious what would a ‘bunch of seeds’ be?
Haha well, we did put 2000 bluebonnet seeds down last fall :)
Absolutely amazing!!!! They growing extremely fast.
Agreed! I was super surprised, you could see the difference just one day at a time!

Yes! Georgetown is a great place, my wife and I may move out of Austin in the next few years and were highly considering Georgetown!
@@AustinTexasGardening yeeah we love it so far, it's definitely a cute town!
Very good job, young man. Next time if you turn the seed around while planting, the sunflower will face your house! 😀😃🙂
Haha appreciate your support!

I will definitely do Zennias next year!! Several people in my neighborhood have done it and it looks great!
@ 432 a humming bird appears on your tree.
They built a little nest on my string lights but I think they just moved away
Aww 432 is the love frequency

I think it’s likely “Russian Mammoth” sunflower. In looking, baker creek has a “Mongolian mammoth” that I am going to have to try.
Good call! It looks just like it!
i had one here in the uk that grew multiple heads , this was because the main head broke off in the wind whilst growing .
Very cool, do you know what kind of sunflower seeds you used?
Are you going to harvest the seeds? And eat them?😄
I think save, and plant next march
