    The fact that there’s other people my age, in my area that garden and care about the environment too makes me so happy! I thought I was a loner.

    So encouraging to see a young person fired up about gardening! Big tip for your trees: the biggest reason (besides lack of irrigation) that trees fail to thrive is being planted too deeply. Search 'root flare' on TH-cam for many good visuals. Keep up the good work! And when you Google for gardening facts, add TAMU to the search string to get results from Texas A&M. stay cool and water those trees!

    hey paul, love the vids and all that! just a recommendation, shear the edges off of the soil when you pull the plant out of the pot, helps get rid of any root issues/root binding and allows them to grow a little better. also, digging wider holes, 3 or so times as wide as the rootball, will help give your trees/plants a better start. thanks for making these vids man 🫶

      Thanks for the advice the only reason my tree holes tend to be smaller is because my yard is riddled with tree roots from the established pine trees and oak trees. Even on the side bed there were huge Chinese privet trees with roots still everywhere. Haha, I’m gonna try for ya tho coach!

    So many beautiful fruit trees! I have a lemon, a lime, a tangerine, a peach and a cherry tree in my garden. I think I'll try to grow some berries and maybe a banana tree. I'll have to do some research first for the banana. I know I'm in zone 9a in Greece, but we'll see! Anyway great and informative video as always Paul! Much love to you and the doggos!!!

    Hey Paul , awesome 👍 and awesome ! Gardening is a good therapy for happiness and full of positive spirits , when a new leaf or bud for a fruit comes out our heart cheer up , we experience it every day
    Ana and dorset apples grow in Houston easily , they need 200 to 300 chill hours only and Houston get it easily , persimmon , some good variety of jujubes, peeches , nectarines also grows very well in Houston and produce fruits also , last year we planted ana and dorset apples at my daughter's house , now there are about 30 apples on dorset and about 5 apples on Anna , there are fruit buds in persimmon and jujube too , they were not caring at all , not even taking out the weeds also , but seeing the apples they are excited already and working on garden nowadays , banana tree may not be a good selection because eventually you might need to rent out a big machine to remove from your house , we experienced that too , we got all the plants from JRN nursery Houston , all grafted

    Dude, GUAVA ….. be ready for a TON of fruit! Our trees were dropping so many every day it was impossible to keep up! I’m just saying, they are incredibly prolific fruit trees once matured. Our were huge (15-over 20 ft talk when we moved away) and because we had about 7 we had barrels of guavas all over lol!

    Oh my god your in Houston with a paw paw! I’m in San Antonio Texas I got two small paw paw trees about 18in high still in the pot I got them about two months ago and while I hear they love the sun when they are older they need to be protected from the sun when their young but our scorching sun kills many trees like it did to all my elderberries I was so hesitant to plant them now or just wait till March so I give them more warm weather to establish some roots before exposing them to our unpredictable cold weather but now im worried that the roots will get root bound and their roots are very delicate. Do you think I should plant it now or wait? My back yard faces NE without any protection from cold or wind and also planting closer to the house maybe not wise since it’s flies that pollinate it…… sorry so many questions but I’ve been very conflicted with what to do with A very wanted tree in my part thought I knew where I was going to plant them but once I got them and saw how small they were I got worried about losing them to our heat and sun.

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re worried just wait but def plant them in shade. I put one in the wide open and it’s doing worse than the other which I put in part shade where it gets some morning sun. It may be better to plant in February before it leaves out I wouldn’t worry about it being too root bound from being in pot for a season
