That text from his mother got me. He seems to have cast aside his passion because he's living in the shadow of someone else. Honestly, the ending where his past self is smiling at him performing despite not having the same glory as Horn Lord is touching. Expression not for the sake of living up to someone else's legacy, but for your own expression is beautiful. Rock on, Gloomhonk. Thanks for the quality charts and moving story-telling.
I just realized that for all the times I've come back to watch this I never left a comment. Imo this is by far your most underrated chart. The amount of detail and care in this is staggering and it's one of my absolute favorites. Keep up the great work!
I'm going to try and put the Jermajesty saga in order and explain things as I go. It all starts with Ave Maria. It is his birthday and his mom takes him to see this performance. (Note the same hair and outfit. Due to the differences in hair color and age, the trombone player on stage is not Horn Lord.) His mom gets him a trombone and he learns to play. Years later, he is helping with auditions for the band in Fly Or Die. (I think this came first. And I doubt he's the leader due to what happens next.) and accepts Horn Lord. Next comes Don't Stop Believing. He's been switched to play the guitar due to HL's immense talent. Jermajesty doesn't take this well and eventually quits. He soon falls into obscurity as HL continues to grow in popularity, leaving us with Say What You Will. He's depressed as he's been overshadowed by HL.
Just noticed, he doesn't get a CHAMP meter, but he can also sustain those long notes with no problem at all. He might be a better player than horn lord.
That cut to silence and the only voice is his, and he plays to his younger self... dude, beautiful. And yeah, it's part of the song, but you just put it there so well, there are actual movies with less emotion.
I know you had the original music video as a blueprint, but I would still like to compliment your use of camera angles. Animating is one thing, directing is another. Well crafted, keep it up.
I'm reading the comments but I don't think people have caught on - This is the second part of another Trombone Champ cover: Don't Stop Believing - Journey. Watch that video first before watching this one so can get the full story. Great video! Hopefully I can find part three to this story.
You've invested such pathos in the blank-faced tromboner avatars; I'm genuinely moved by Tan Face/White Hair's plight. I always favored him for his bold New Wave sculptural hairdo but here he's carrying a lot of emotional baggage behind those circular eyeballs beyond just getting his solo stolen several videos ago. I also irrationally hate Horn Lord now. (Empty-headed nepo-baby who gets all the breaks.)
The story progression is amazing, it's incredible that you can essentially make films in this game

Is it weird that the story progressing in these charts made me tear up a little watching this?
and then you actually play the game and it sounds funny af
You can't go making me get teary over a Trombone Champ track, that's not fair.

Based on a small detail in DSB, I think he was actually thrown out of the band. From the end of the song it sounds like he got into a fight.
I come here for the funny meme songs, not to cry, goddamnit. You have no idea how relatable this video felt to me.
Ain’t no way you got me tearing up over a mini story you crafted in a damn trumpet rhythm game
Trombone* the trumpet is the coward's trombone
This is the one song where I won't listen to the auto-tooted version; I choose to believe that this is 100% Jermajesty's canon talent level.
Wait, this IS the autotoot
Your storytelling in these is genuinely amazing. Wow...
This man's been on a journey. Wonder what made him want to do guitar instead of trombone?

this version always manages to make me tear up at the end
Why am I more invested in this than most TV shows rn
Love these animations
Only nearly a year later do I remember this video introduced me to my favorite song

Just for this, have my like, sub, and my eternal, undying loyalty.
This is very underrated.
I love the detail of the vendor outside the theatre being a hot dog vendor
The video for this is better than the one in the original music video of the actual bloody song!
I don’t know the song so i open the original and this together and it was perfect
I love this song and the music video so when it maches the music video but it also has its own story line makes me happy
This is... beautiful.

1:20 Tom Scott?
A Heartbreaking Story...
