Sad thing is both Fate and kara no kyoukai (which I believe is older and the VN or novel is even harder to track down than Tsukihime) got the better anime adaptations when Tsukihime got the short end of the stick.. It's just really fucked up and frustrating.
We are trying to out due each other in this regard. Expect at some point just nothing to ever come out ever again. That's my ultimate goal, to not exist.
The ending and the rushed development don't bother me so much. Like you said, there are definitely some redeeming aspects for this anime, especially the music and general atmosphere. My biggest complaint is that characters (most notably Arcueid) come off very different in this anime than they do in the manga or VN. There are scenes where they don't even feel like the same people. So while as a stand alone anime viewing Tsukihime can be an enjoyable experience, I'm with most fans in recommending the manga instead.
@@Itsmfchum the anime name is Shingetsutan Tsukihime. Its not from ufotable tho, and also being creat long time ago (maybe more than 9 year ago) So, the animation are low class. Most people dont know about this until the Ufotable remake it to become a game.
As someone who only got into anime in 2020, I honestly don't get the hate beyond the animation not being as high production quality as the Ufotable series and some skipped characterization.
I watched this without reading the manga, and it just felt like a lot was missing. Like character development and entire arcs. It was actually boring to watch. Carnival Phantasm did a better job and it was a parody.
As an anime only who never read the manga or play the vn, totally a great watch alright. Sometimes i don't even understand how it's a 6/10 as i don't really feel whole plot hole fuss and all. Though i do kind of understand the disappointment of someone who watched an anime expecting something to happen just for it to not happen. I would problably give this anime an 8/10 instead but maybe it does deserve some of the hate
i came to tsukihime after playing Melty Blood: Actress Again. i wanted to see the source material behind these fun looking characters. when i realized it was a vampire story, i braced myself for disappointment as i usually do with that genre. and then i heard the voice acting. i always watch the JP voices because i'm trying to learn Japanese. so, what i got was voice acting on par with Elfen Lied. "ok", i thought. "i can make this work." so, i keep watching. i watched the first three episodes, and... while there were things i liked about it, i opted out of continuing. instead, i listened to the fandom's advice and read the manga, and formed my opinion on the series off of that. (my opinion being... "i like it. it's nothing groundbreaking. but the vamps are cool. not VTM:B cool, but still cool. my one real complaint is i really didn't like the protagonist. i find him annoying. overall, 7/10.") as for the anime, i'd give that a 5/10. not as bad as everyone says, but there are better ways to enjoy this story. tl:dr, it did not impact me that much. the problem was my inability to get invested in shiki's story, due to not liking him enough to care.
Play the visual novel coming from someone who finished it a week ago with the remake you haven't read the whole story the manga does the first route, and there are 5 routes in total in the visual novel and 3 of them are not related to vampires.
It wasn't that bad. It hasn't aged that badly either. The thing is... it's not as great as the VN and it's rushed. But, let's be objective: it's impossible to properly adapt such a complex story in just twelve episodes. It's not the first and won't be the last anime not to match the quality of the source material. Could it have been better? Definitely. Does it deserve a remake with a better pacing? Absolutely. Does it deseve the hate it's received? Not at all.
I remember the firsttime i saw this anime, and it was seriously wierd for me. Fast forward almost 12 years later, and i watched it again, this time having played the og game, and knowing the nasuverse from notes to ataraxia. This anime is said to not exist because it is absurdly weak compare dto the source material, and really, only the music saves it from being the absolute worst thing i've ever watched. The characters are stiff, they don't emote the way they normally would, side characters get their exposition over even massive plot points (i love sachhin and akiho, but they should not be as prominent as they are in the story). Hisui and Kohaku? Their characters are decimated, arc, instead of being one of the most fun characters is more often than not rather dark and dull with her attitude, shiki gets virtually none of his badass moments the way they should be, and the list goes on. This anime could easily have been worse, but it _should_ have been so much better considering when it came out, there were leagues more anime from decades earlier that were far truer to their source material, and had leagues better animation.
This anime had all the kinoku nasu elements, the atmosphere, suspense , mystery and the dark feel to it, its the pacing that drags the story. Everything feels slow, you want to go to sleep put this thing on.😅😅
So people are saying that this is the Aruicrad (probably spelling that wrong) route? Does that mean it's like Fate/stay night where there's multiple routes? And if so what are they?
uh theres routes for arcueid, ciel, akiha, hisui and kohaku arc and ciel's routes both have roa as their villian akiha hisui and kohaku's routes each have different villians but its generally considered to be SHIKI as the villian for them
@@dreamyliamy2537 cool, so would you want movie form kinda like heavens feel or would you want Unlimited blade work's esque anime for any of those Becuase I'd mostly want a Unlimited blade work's anime type for those, just so we could get more story. But what do you think?
i think if you subtract the hentai, each route is able to be 2 movies each so im fine with that, an anime would drag some of the routes out but be fine for others
I think before TH-cam I just remember watching this weirdly charming strange love/horror story as a kid in my teens in the bizarre cable channel we had over here in south America called Locomotion and thinking: "Hey, this was pretty okay". Years and years and years later I find out about this Melty Blood stuff and all the community around this shit and being like what the hell is going on
As a Fate/stay deen fan, I feel like everyone is just dazzled by the CG effects, modern animation quality, and the runtime for the new adaptations by them, discarding the beauty in the compromises needed to bring these adaptations into reality and their own strong points. The music is definitely the best part of them though. UBW music really doesn't compare to the old Kenji Kawai music. Night of Fate practically defines F/sn for me.
This anime actually really needs a re adaptation by ufotable soon or later. I literally has not watched it but i can say that this anime will not disappoint any viewer if it gets an another adaptation.
i personally actually found the anime to be the best anime i have seen storywise alone(i like other anime more, but for secondary reasons). it makes good use of main and sidecharacters and i did not actually notice anything being amiss when i watched it,so it is a bit of a surprise that there was stuff cut. it just occurred to me that ciel or the church had to have erased everyones memories at the end,but i guess it is the opposite and the memorything happened at the beginning. doesnt really matter. and the thing with the point of death...i literally understood it the moment the point was shown onscreen. really,i did not even have to wait for the guy to actually die to understand what was happening xD it is a giant point of "hit me here!" where multiple of his lines ended and it was the only time in the series where shiki was getting ready to stab someone instead of slashing them. i liked every minute of the anime actually and it actually felt like the anime was 24 episodes contentwise. when i say i like every minute...i actually mean minute, not second. i dont even mean the repeated short section after the short break, that is fine. but sometimes, the anime just takes a while to continue on certain shorts. it feels like they just did not manage to hit the episodelengh sometimes and then just did that bs. if that did not exist, then i would call the anime really great
Listen the thing about keeping the Satsuki parts is more confusing because the anime and manga actually cut her arc. The manga is more agregious for this because they had the time to actually put it in. Not just that but the animes portrayal of the nero fight was absolutely lame. They cut out bits of shikis character arc during that fight.
This anime got me into type moon material. This anime got me into the Tsukihime visual novel and Garden of sinners movies. This anime drew me in and even though it was a shallow adaption. The opening and ending theme and what I saw in the anime told me that there is much more to this series. The visual novel is on another level. The anime does have good music and great art style but that's about it. The manga is good and the visual novel is amazing.
I cannot criticize Tsukihime as a standalone anime without taking into consideration its source material as I watched it after playing the MirrorMoon translation of the Tsukihime VN (which I played after playing MM's translation of F/SN after watching the Studio Deen F/SN anime with the Animax English dub which was my first foray into the Nasuverse). The reason I mention this is that I am not as critical of the Studio Deen F/SN as I hadn't read the VN before watching it, as such my experience of the anime was in comparison to the other anime up on Animax and Cartoon Network at the time. Playing the VN did bring out the flaws of the Studio Deen anime but I will always remember that I enjoyed the anime on my first watch (But I will also say that If you have watched ANY of Ufotable's Type-Moon works already then Studio Deen's F/SN will be a complete and total downgrade from that). So I have the same bias that the fan of any work has when judging its adaptations, I will inevitably compare it to the source material. While the Ufotable adaptations are amazing I will still say that to fully immerse and understand the world of Type-Moon you have to play the original games and read the Light Novels. That said the Ufotable anime are a great way to view thw Nasuverse stories and the source material just adds some content that either clarifies the setting better (in case of Kara no Kyoukai novels) or explains the character motivations in better details thanks to the inner character monologues (as in case of Shirou in UBW). Many people who would have only watched the Studio Deen's F/SN will think that Shirou is a sexist suicidal idiot which actually misrepresents him as a character. His attitude comes from his lack of self worth and his unwillingness to let anyone get hurt on HIS behalf or on his watch, thus his attitude towards Saber in F/SN, just his thoughts in the Fate route alone make that clear (he doesn't think Saber is weak, he thinks Saber has been weakened and cannot let her sacrifice herself for him). And that brings me to my greatest issue with the Tsukihime anime: It destroys the characterisation of the main characters. Canon Shiki isn't supposed to be depressed, he is extremely chill about most things in life as he lives everyday as if it is a gift. The MEoDP lead him to see the fragility of life and existence as a whole and that is why he cherishes the normal everyday moments of life. It is why he is so vehemently against the woman he falls for seeing herself as just a weapon as he wants her to cherish her life as well enjoy the normal everyday moments in it. This also connects to his epiphany about Roa, it is during Roa's boast about how he no longer fears death due to his repeated reincarnations that Shiki realises that Roa CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE SEEN DEATH. As anyone who has seen the fragility of existence itself wouldn't brag about what he sees and how he doesn't fear it anymore. This leads to his speech where he tells Roa how terrifying seeing Death truly is and what it truly means to kill something. Also, there is the bit where the act of killing Arcueid the first time leads him to a mental breakdown which leads to him convincing himself that it didn't happen (aided by Hisui claiming to never having seen him in blood soaked clothes). Thus his freaking out when he sees that a living Arcueid recognises him and claims that she will make him take responsibility for killing her. This is also why Shiki doesn't abandon her when she falls asleep the first night while hunting for Chaos. He genuinely feels regret for the harm he caused her. The anime doesn't give us any of that. Then what is the point of adapting this story. Do you just want to try and make money of this IP? I also felt that Arcueid was made too serious in her Anime interactions with Shiki. While she isn't the airhead that Carnival Phantasm makes her out to be, she does seem like one to Shiki in the VN as she has little experience interacting with people outside of her purpose as a Demon Lord hunter and no experience whatsoever of actually talking to people. As such she comes of as silly when she talks to Shiki about anything other than Vampire hunting. Even Chaos and Roa get shafted in the anime. Chaos freaks out while he dies in the anime which is completely out of character for him as he doesn't care about his existence at all, just the pursuit of his thesis (in the VN he is calm and dies kinda like Raya Soren from Kara no Kyoukai). Roa on the other hand dies without much struggle in the anime which is the opposite of his actions in the VN (he struggles to survive in every single route with just one exception). Roa by the point of time that the canon story takes place has degraded to the point that he has only two driving motivations: (1) His obsession with Arcueid & (2) His obsession with immortality. The only exception is when Shiki coverses with the original PURE Roa in Ciel route where we see that he too dies with dignity accepting that he has failed in achieving his life's goal. This is why as a fan of the original Tsukihime VN, I cannot acknowledge this anime as anything more than a story with the same name that has the same character names and a similar premise and not as an adaptation of any kind.
Wtf? Unless I'm remembering wrong, the character designs for the anime were completely different from the VN. In fact one of the reasons the manga was great was because the designs were more in tune with the VN. In the anime they made them look all depressed, as if the VN didn't have any silly moments and it was all full of drama 24/7. I like the anime tbh, watched it on TV when it was airing in my country, but no, design wise the manga is closer to the original.
I only had 3 problems with it. Leaving out major plot points and focusing too much on side characters The anime was very blurry at times and made it hard to watch I didn't really like the ending
Ah this anime, I watched it but it was a mistake I did xD, I was gonna play "lunar: the silver star" and somehow ended up with this anime lol, maybe cause I was looking up anime for lunar and ended up with this
An anime based on the manga narrative would work. The manga tells you everything you need to know for the story to make sense and enjoy it. If they took their time with it, they could bring in more elements from other routes. Otherwise, there is no Tsukihime anime, but if there WAS, it would have two of the best anime soundtracks of all time.

they forgot ciel's most important character trait, curry
i see you have taken the clue from Rising sempai to review stuff that does not exist :D
We are trying to out due each other in this regard. Expect at some point just nothing to ever come out ever again. That's my ultimate goal, to not exist.
@@SeaTactics LMAO
The ending and the rushed development don't bother me so much. Like you said, there are definitely some redeeming aspects for this anime, especially the music and general atmosphere.
My biggest complaint is that characters (most notably Arcueid) come off very different in this anime than they do in the manga or VN. There are scenes where they don't even feel like the same people. So while as a stand alone anime viewing Tsukihime can be an enjoyable experience, I'm with most fans in recommending the manga instead.
I rlly want to see ufotable remake this into an anime
You can't remake something that never existed.
@Son Gonna Fax
@@songohan3321 it exist

@@Itsmfchum the anime name is Shingetsutan Tsukihime.
Its not from ufotable tho, and also being creat long time ago (maybe more than 9 year ago) So, the animation are low class.
Most people dont know about this until the Ufotable remake it to become a game.
As someone who only got into anime in 2020, I honestly don't get the hate beyond the animation not being as high production quality as the Ufotable series and some skipped characterization.
the point is, even DEEN's fate stay night got a billion times better animation than this
"Some skipped"
It seems that most of the characters and story was just removed in the adaptation
I watched this without reading the manga, and it just felt like a lot was missing. Like character development and entire arcs. It was actually boring to watch. Carnival Phantasm did a better job and it was a parody.

while there is a manga the source material is a VN
I took a shot every time he mispronounced Tsukihime or another Japanese word/name, and now I'm in the hospital.
I love how when you said "I will admit that" it sounded like "I will omit that" which is nearly the opposite. English amirite?
if it weren’t for the tsukihime anime
i wouldn’t have gone out of my way to read the vn
I want to see the remake. The Blue glass moon opening is one of the best anime openings iv ever heard.
The art makes them look freaking old in the anime.
i legit thought "fucking boku no pico?"
The reason I would say it’s an anime that doesn’t exist is because I can’t find it anywhere, where am I supposed to watch it?
i came to tsukihime after playing Melty Blood: Actress Again. i wanted to see the source material behind these fun looking characters.
when i realized it was a vampire story, i braced myself for disappointment as i usually do with that genre. and then i heard the voice acting. i always watch the JP voices because i'm trying to learn Japanese. so, what i got was voice acting on par with Elfen Lied.
"ok", i thought. "i can make this work."
so, i keep watching. i watched the first three episodes, and... while there were things i liked about it, i opted out of continuing. instead, i listened to the fandom's advice and read the manga, and formed my opinion on the series off of that.
(my opinion being... "i like it. it's nothing groundbreaking. but the vamps are cool. not VTM:B cool, but still cool. my one real complaint is i really didn't like the protagonist. i find him annoying. overall, 7/10.")
as for the anime, i'd give that a 5/10. not as bad as everyone says, but there are better ways to enjoy this story.
tl:dr, it did not impact me that much. the problem was my inability to get invested in shiki's story, due to not liking him enough to care.
You should've read the visual novel if you wanted to see everything about the protagonist
Play the visual novel coming from someone who finished it a week ago with the remake you haven't read the whole story the manga does the first route, and there are 5 routes in total in the visual novel and 3 of them are not related to vampires.
WHERE DID YOU GET THE HD VERSION OF THE ANIME?
What are you talking about? There's no Tsukihime anime. No, it doesn't exist at all.
Not at all.
It had a horrible ending. I liked the anime hated the ending because Arcueid died. And especially after Shiki made love to her. That's what broke me.
I actually like this anime and I even played the VN
Wait... you enjoy the anime despite also knowing the VN? Usually it's the people who know the VN that are harshest toward this anime. oO
And if so what are they?
uh theres routes for arcueid, ciel, akiha, hisui and kohaku
arc and ciel's routes both have roa as their villian
akiha hisui and kohaku's routes each have different villians but its generally considered to be SHIKI as the villian for them
@@dreamyliamy2537 cool, so which would route would the anime do first if Ufotable remade it
@@samj8058 probably akiha or hisui, they're different enough from arc's route n jc's anime to be adapted without overlap
This anime became shirou and saber
I may be wrong bit even still this show will be a 8 out of 10 for me
I’ve been looking for the anime, but can’t find it. I don’t understand what the story is about
I think before TH-cam I just remember watching this weirdly charming strange love/horror story as a kid in my teens in the bizarre cable channel we had over here in south America called Locomotion and thinking: "Hey, this was pretty okay". Years and years and years later I find out about this Melty Blood stuff and all the community around this shit and being like what the hell is going on
Tsukihime anime wasnt bad if you have exams and anything but studying is interesting
I remember not understanding the anime. But I did watch it and didn’t knew it was related to Fate.
Night of Fate practically defines F/sn for me.
you should listen to Arcueid voice in Latino ( Spanish) is amazing the tone
I might be weird but I got into the series from the anime I liked it I might read the manga now
When I watched carnival phantasm I always thought who are these other girls and this boy which I had never seen in fate series now I understand
This anime actually really needs a re adaptation by ufotable soon or later. I literally has not watched it but i can say that this anime will not disappoint any viewer if it gets an another adaptation.
So this is basically neco arc before neco arc?
Need a remake anime
2:57
BRO WHAT IS THAT SCOOBY DOO AHH FACE
I'm learning the series cuz u know the series order is kind of messy since it also got an alter
As someone who doesn't really give a fuck about the source material or any type moon shit, I enjoyed the anime a lot
Thanks for your vidéo and regard
I actually saw the anime first, then played the vn…now the remake, I prefer this over fate/stay night tbh
where to read it and whats type moon and nasu
The way he pronounced tsukihime at the start though…
i personally actually found the anime to be the best anime i have seen storywise alone(i like other anime more, but for secondary reasons). it makes good use of main and sidecharacters and i did not actually notice anything being amiss when i watched it,so it is a bit of a surprise that there was stuff cut. it just occurred to me that ciel or the church had to have erased everyones memories at the end,but i guess it is the opposite and the memorything happened at the beginning. doesnt really matter. and the thing with the point of death...i literally understood it the moment the point was shown onscreen. really,i did not even have to wait for the guy to actually die to understand what was happening xD
it is a giant point of "hit me here!" where multiple of his lines ended and it was the only time in the series where shiki was getting ready to stab someone instead of slashing them. i liked every minute of the anime actually and it actually felt like the anime was 24 episodes contentwise. when i say i like every minute...i actually mean minute, not second. i dont even mean the repeated short section after the short break, that is fine. but sometimes, the anime just takes a while to continue on certain shorts. it feels like they just did not manage to hit the episodelengh sometimes and then just did that bs. if that did not exist, then i would call the anime really great
Listen the thing about keeping the Satsuki parts is more confusing because the anime and manga actually cut her arc. The manga is more agregious for this because they had the time to actually put it in.
Not just that but the animes portrayal of the nero fight was absolutely lame. They cut out bits of shikis character arc during that fight.
Read the manga if you don't want to read the VN, it's really good and it has a extended ending.
I’ve only ever read the manga. Never played the game and didn’t know there was even an anime or nonexistent anime.
Someone please tell me where to watch this
This anime got me into type moon material.
I found the manga after the remake was announced and just started chapter 1
Will there be a season 2?
The fate route should get a remake
1:07 screw you worldwide web it exists
Bruh I watched this as a teen. Found out It was for a game or from a game or something.
I loved this anime. Still do.

The characters all have gakuen handsome chins.
I love this anime, it got me into the Nasuverse, but the understanding of the presenter from the dub is... how can I put it politely... flawed.
Well now we have the Tsukhime remake now don't we?
I feel like the anime does exactly what its meant to, gets you just interested enough to go read the vn
Ciel killed the villain and the vampire told tohro that she is a member of church and uses magic
Wtf? Unless I'm remembering wrong, the character designs for the anime were completely different from the VN. In fact one of the reasons the manga was great was because the designs were more in tune with the VN. In the anime they made them look all depressed, as if the VN didn't have any silly moments and it was all full of drama 24/7.
I like the anime tbh, watched it on TV when it was airing in my country, but no, design wise the manga is closer to the original.
yep you are right about the designs
I would watch the anime IF I KNEW WHERE THE HELL TO WATCH IT
So does this thing have an anime or doesn't it.
I only had 3 problems with it.
Leaving out major plot points and focusing too much on side characters
The anime was very blurry at times and made it hard to watch
I didn't really like the ending
Ah this anime, I watched it but it was a mistake I did xD, I was gonna play "lunar: the silver star" and somehow ended up with this anime lol, maybe cause I was looking up anime for lunar and ended up with this
How was it
An anime based on the manga narrative would work. The manga tells you everything you need to know for the story to make sense and enjoy it. If they took their time with it, they could bring in more elements from other routes.
Otherwise, there is no Tsukihime anime, but if there WAS, it would have two of the best anime soundtracks of all time.
C'est un argument de fan élitiste
Tsukihime animé est envoûtant et construit comme un vrai drama
Ouai c'est marrant de renier cette magnifique oeuvre , certe tirée du vn ou manga ou whathelse..'

I actually like that filter/gain whatever called, I feel like it compliments the tone of Tsukihime well and I'm not sure if I would like a modern redo looking exactly like the UFOtable Fate/ and Kara no Kyoukai Anime.
Since I just watched the Anime as it's own thing without comparing it I felt it was fine.
In case someone comes here to forget about the ~~Tsukihime~~ anime. Watch Carnival Phantasm.

Honestly, looking at this I think I can say that Tsukihime fans got off lightly all things considered. Contrast that with what the Dies Irae fans have to put up with.
I just figured the anime was supposed to be an Experimental art experience.
Probably feeding into the meme, but I had no idea this got an anime lol.
But then again, I don’t mind reading so I think I’ll just continue playing the VN
So Tsukihime is another Melty Blood?
At that time, i watch almost all anime be it good or bad, whatever genre so Im used to boring slow anime and low def anime from that time, so this anime is quite standard and slighly exciting to me than most other anime, so yeah i dont understand why people said its bad.
