Those P5's are killer basses. I recetly got my 5 string P5 and think it's awesome. BTW, you gotta start locking the door! You won't get caught as much XD
I just played one of those during my visit to Tulsa when my host/friend brought me to the local Guitar Center, @@OMARA.OFFICIAL. I cannot say that I do not know what you’re talking about. If I were in the market for another instrument, specifically a 5-string bass, I would’ve walked out holding that Jackson.
After pondering on getting a new bass for a while, I finally did it after watching many videos and reviews. I have the green version in the 4 string format and love it ! To be honest, the feel of the neck is worth it. More expensive than the Squier's and the like, but definitely worth it IMHO. In this case, inexpensive does not mean cheap and inexpensive does not mean lacklustre quality. Bravo Sire !
I have heard great things about the Sire Marcus Miller P5 Basses. Very decent Alder body. Its as good as anything that was played in the 1960's! I did look at them, just a little wide for my smaller hands. A Fender jazz, with full electircs, £2000 UK. I am priced out by the big boys An ibanze 600E, full electrics, £700. Very decent bass at that price. Delighted! Even money left over for new Gotho tuners, bone nut, new strings, new gig bag. Cheaper does not mean rubbish!
I have a P5R, and love it. I own a Fender, Sire, and Squier. All are super comfortable, really well made, and more than professional grade for use in either the studio or on-stage. Only differences from stock are that I put a Radioshop (60s) Bass pickup into my Sire, and I upgraded the tuning keys and put a Fralin hum cancelling split coil I to my Squier 50s P Bass.
Thank you for guiding me here, Chuck. Your assessment of the P5 reminds me of my own explorations with a Squier Vintage Modified Bass Six. As an aside, I’m digging the examples of yourself with Take Five playing your bass and singing together. I can do that also, and people frequently say it’s next to impossible to accomplish. To be sure, when you say “chutzpah”, the ‘c’ should be silent.
Bruh, honestly is the best policy! Thank you giving the Sire it's due. Coming from an endorse of MTD your opinion is very well received and respected. Thanks again for your honesty, honestly 👏.
love the video & content i just picked up the Sire P5 in that mint finish its great and ive been loving it! thanks for your insight and sharing your opinion! keep jammin!
A lot of people assume that. Citing either sub-par electronics, tuning instability, lower quality wood and/or hardware…either way, we wanted to show that’s not the case
Said it below! For whatever reason people assume cheap equates to “what’s the catch?” I was tired of that stigma and my fellow bass channel compadres and I set out to dispel that. I think this Sire bass did that quite easily and nicely. You don’t have to sacrifice tone and quality for price.
I loved this video! I play a Fender American Pro II 5 string Precision in a very similar kind of cover band. As a matter of fact most of your sound examples are songs that my band also plays, so this gave me a really good idea of what to expect from the Sire. I think you just sold me a bass. Thanks
Got my P5 5 string recently. It´s my main bass now. I have a P7 and a V7 that I love too, but the P7 has gloss neck and the V7 has satin finish wich I prefer like you. I like the P-bass tone the most, so when the P5 came out with satin neck, I had to have it and boy I´m happy with it!
I dont think you can go wrong for the money. As long as you get one thats not to heavy as weights vary. Liked the dirty tone. Think its a winner. Im debating a 4 string fretless same model. Chuck always plays tastefully and gives an honest review.
After 3 months on sweetwater's list to purchase one, I cancelled my order. Maybe I should not have. I got a Schecter CV5, which has great tone and sooo many options. But it is very heavy. How was the P5 on your back?
Felt great. I try to make sure my straps are 3”-4” tho to help balance the weight of any basses. Wasn’t terribly heavy. No neck dive. Sorry you canceled the order. I understand the frustration. I waited since last year 😂 I do know zzounds Carries them now. Perhaps they’ll be faster? Check the link in the video and see if they’re in stock! Cheers John!
@@Therealchuckbailey I got one! The neck is a dream, and the weight is just right. Tone-wise, it's a one-trick pony. but that is the trick I want. Need a Schecter CV5? I put it up on Reverb.
My personal preference is Sire. I felt like their basses compared to the classic vibe series (perhaps not all of that series but the one I played anyways) were made better and I preferred the woods used to the CV’s. Hardware seemed a higher quality also.
Im gonna go ahead and assume the rest of the band was not happy with the sound engineers mix that night. " I dont know what youre talking about guys. Sounds fine to me"
Lol we ran my bass through the wiretap so the signal you hear is not what they hear. It is unaffected so FOH mix to each persons IEM or wedge was to their liking. Kind of nice what technology can provide 😂 I’m sure my mates have had enough of me after all these years tho you’re right about that.

It clearly can hold its own and the instrument being so cheap is just an awesome Bonus. No underestimations here at all! Everyone at the channel loved it
$600 price tag isn’t the lowest price point sire has. I’m sure a $600 bass is sufficient for any live situation. Recording I would opt for something else maybe.
Based off what? HB is an exception because there are no other basses in that price point to my knowledge. Sire is definitely budget as it is still have the cost of a Mexican fender and just as good if not better than one and roughly equal to slightly more than a Squier. That feels like it hits the “Budget Bass” category.
@@Therealchuckbailey SIRE P5 is €537 here in europe. An HB is €154. So based on that fact, and my personel bank account an P5 is for me not an budget bass. 😉
