Sire puts no money in advertising or marketing and focus on just building the best bass they can and let the bass sell itself. Marcus Miller stated this in an interview, pretty interesting. His endorsement goes a long ways.
I think great for the price is an understatement. The public needs to realize this is real value. It’s nice to see a modern company care about quality and value. You couldn’t touch a bass anywhere close to this for less than $1000 bucks, 30 years ago.
Thanks for the real world playing. I dread reviews filled with slapping and virtuoso soloing. I got a REAL sense of what this bass is and can do. 👍
Really like how you brought up Fender at 7:20. While I love Fender & their products, I really can't justify purchasing their high end MIM models for $1100-1300. I really love all the features Sire is giving bass players especially at the price point. When looking at affordable models the only reason to go with Fender now is because the resale value will always be high and replacement pickguards are very accessible. Great review!
I have owned my 1st gen SIRE P7 and I still grin in disbelief how damn good it is every time I play it.
Me too - I got the original (#99 signed by Marcus) V7! And a fretless P7 5er too! Now a D5 on order
The pickups have now been changed to what they call "vintage fat precision", so more lows. I have a V5 and a P5R on order. I agree, the basses are great and they have that played feel.
Sire has their own factory in indonesia and they wind their own pickups and other stuff themselves.
Also they work in volleys of instruments so they preserve quality over quanitity.
Also the founder of sire is teh founder of the biggest guitar company in Korea:
If you want ot learn more I recommend you check out The Bass Nerd's podcast with Kyle Kim, Sire's founder.
Kyle is wonderful. a Very nice man and we enjoy working with him. He and I have spoken regularly and he is very transparent with what he wants out of Sire and that is people to have a quality instrument at an affordable price. I look forward to our continuing working relationship and I hope to see him in the future!
@@Therealchuckbailey awesome! Indeed his philosophy was to and i paraphhrase "kill everything in terms of quality in that price range".
I guess since you have a good relatio ship you could just ask him straight up and maybe tell us later haha
I'm unbelievably excited for mine to arrive in January 😍
I found 1 P5 in Spain and a take it without dub. It is amazing, way better than my 1st Gen p7. Hope you get yours soon.
Mine is going to be April/May delivery 📦😕
Did you get it yet
@@timothyworkman1275 Yep! Unboxing is now on my channel 😊
Que lástima que apenas puedas tocar ....
Great vid! I really wanted the mint color ahaha (I love my red now though). These P5's really are the bee's knees. As a local furniture chain's slogan goes- Quality, comfort, and price. That's nice! Definitely applies to the P5. Also excited to hear the EMG!
Go away troglodyte
I've been extremely interested in the P5. Couldn't find much info on them until now. Appreciate the demo and review. Seems like a great bass, especially for the price.
Personally, I don't mind the emphasis on the mids and the loss of the deep thumping. I can always get that on this guitar through the amplifier.
Yep, going to high pass below 60hz anyway.
Looks and sounds absolutely great.
2:46 TIME BOMBBBBBBBB
🤘🏽😬🤘🏽
I love that Bloodsport shirt!
The made in México Fender basses are overpriced now because of how glorified they've become, because they were equal in quality to the American basses, for a fraction of the price.
Thanks to You guys i bought this bass, lovely !
A thorough review as ever. Keep it up 😉👍🏻
Came just to point that I totally agree with Chris... Most important is how does the instrument feels in your hands.
Almost everything on a bass you can swap out pretty easily, but if you have a bad neck, you might as well get a different bass.
I'm glad roasted wood is slowly creeping into being an industry standard. Old wood isn't affordable or sustainable anymore, this is a much better alternative
OMG...I want such a thing! That's exactly my bass!
I don't subscribe to the tonewood BS, but the roasted maple looks great and with the roasting process, it is much more stable than regular maple.
thank you for the excellent info provided ❤
A very good video.....the bass was fairly assessed, thankyou.
It seems like it’s taking forever for this line to make it to the market and be readily available, especially for lefties. Suppliers keep on pushing back on availability dates.
Looks and sounds amazing. Excellent review mate.
that t-shirt is awesome!
Cool review, I have a few stingray special basses and my ebony is actually brighter than my maple and brighter than my roasted maple.
I figured the roasted thing was artificial aging of rather green wood.
Maple played just fine for years til now.
Also, there's something wrong when a p-bass neck dives. The headstock end shouldn't outweigh the huge slab of a body .
Thanks for posting. Great Review!
I bought the D5 and its a stunning instrument; will get the P5 also
Talking about the low end "issue". What are the stock strings? Maybe those are just cheap ones and setting some good ones will do. Or even some dr fat beams, i used them on a jb squier and there is a huge difference
They’re daddarios as standard on all their basses I believe so they aren’t cheap strings 😂
They cut cost by doing as much as possible in house - vertical integration - kind of like Tesla, actually! :)
I would love to see you guys do a head to head of Squier Classic Vibe series basses to Sire's comparable basses. I played a friend's Sire jazz with active/passive switching and I was very impressed! I have 3 Squiers, CV 50s P Bass, CV 60s Jazz, and a Vintage Modified Bass VI. The Sire's 50s single coil P Bass with a roasted maple neck was very tempting but I already had the Squier. Please do a Squier Classic Vibe 50s P bass vs Sire D5 50s P Bass!
Well… stay tuned! You never know
There is no comparison lol. Sire is offering way more.
Great video, Chuck in particular just had really insightful thoughts. I just ordered this bass as a 5-string from Thomann. I’m okay with swapping the pickup but with 7 string guitars the mid emphasis might help keep my tracks from being a sludge fest. Excited!
I bet Kyle's got engineers working on the pickups for the P5 and D5 already. Got a D5 on order myself, can't wait - looks just like the '54 I learned on ages ago ('cept no sc buzz).
This bass sounds deep really nice🌯🌯
"You're Next!"
I was going to get a v5 or v7, now I’m not so sure. Why one over the other? Different sound, l know, but how different? Thanks
Quick correction. The bass featured in the video is the P5, not D5. The D5 is linked in the description.
Oops. Thanks for spotting that!
Fabuloso!
Hello! The bass is balanced?
nice hat!
I want to get the 5 string model
You need to review the P5r. You will not find any better bass for this price. Love it. Bye bye Fender
my D5 neck feels exactly like my music man special ($2200) ...even the frets feel the same (jescar ss?), and it sounds just as good and weighs 8lbs2ounces...same weight.
Looking at either this exact bass OR Squier classic vibe 70s P bass. Any advice in either direction?!
I own both and either are a good choice. Sire is slightly heavier, hardware (tuners, pots, jack) seem a little sturdier on sire. Fit and finish on both are top notch for the price range, the neck on the sire feels a little nicer having the mat finish on the back as opposed to the gloss on the squier. Pickup on the Squier has more low end bass while the sire is more midrange focus. I string my squier with flats and sire with rounds
@@randallfreeman5483awesome, I'm a pick player in a punk rock influenced power pop band, so the midrange growl is good for that style. Leaning sire I think....
I didnt even know that this dropped lol! Thank you everyone for your positive comments and feedback! Please keep an eye out for some more Sire videos in 2022!!!
Can you explain what you mean " that you wanted more meat on the bass body ? " Does it feel hollow ?
Nobody answered this and I bought this bass recently, so: the bass has a tiny bit of neckdive. The neck is heavier in relation to the body, if the body had a touch more weight it would have been balanced out.
Hi. Has anybody who tried this p5 detected neck diving tò some extent? Thanks you.
🔥🔥🔥
I ordered a Sire P5 from sweetwater they sent the Allen for the truss rod
It has alot of play before engaging !
Of course l didn't use it
I had 2 other sires many yrs ago l sent back with same issue!!
What is Sires problem?
I called Sire try hey said he it's ok a 4 mm key
Have you had this problem?
Do you think the « lack of low end » is like a 57-58 Pbass pickup? Which is less bassy than say a ‘63 P pickup by nature and more barky.
Or is it really lacking even compared with classic 50s or Vintera Pbasses??
Best color. Mild green
For wanting to spend less than $1k on a precision bass would you say this is the best value? I looked at p7 but I like the simplicity of the p5. I have been looking for used but seems all guitar prices are crazy right now.
I think this is an excellent choice for under $1k
just bought one identical.
Is that a powerwolf riff 24:50
Roasted wood hurrries the lenghty process of drying the wood.
Costs less to the companies......
Thank you for this review. I’m really interested in this bass. I think I will upgrade the pup with a Fralin pup tho. Have they hit the market yet?
The basses are out! We’re hearing finding them has proven difficult but check your local online retailers!
Hey, what are the sounds you play on the video ? I'd like to learn them. Thanks !
Hey Chuck, very nice review,
what kind of pickups would you recommend for swapping in? I am curious to learn this from you. Many thanks!
Hi! thanks my friend! So keep your eyes peeled for some upcoming videos cause Chris and I are doing a shoot out of Pickups for our Sire Mod Videos I mentioned in the reviews. We have partnered with Nordstrand Audio and EMG for that video and I think we are all going to be in for a treat! Also Check out LowEnd Lobsters review on Mods where he put in a sweet sounding DiMarzio Pickup! lots of options!
Make a video about Children of Bodom Bass Sound
This P5 is a new Sire product ora a 2018 "second generation" basses? Thanks!
...2021 product. Thanks _))
You do know that Billie eilish lick has three licks on the D at the end of the riff right?
I did a whole cover on it a couple years ago, this was just noodling around on it.
How did I fix that pickup issue? I put a set of quarter pounders in it. I changed the preamp too. It is currently elite. 🎉🎉🎉
Fuuuk I wanna try one of these but I don’t know anywhere that has them in Vancouver Canada.
any online retailers you can check?
@@Therealchuckbailey I'd want to play it before i buy it though
@@richardnolet250 gotcha. Good luck man!
I have a few awesome basses made in Indonesia. At first I kinda had an issue with a bass made there but I took a shot and it was a beautiful made bass. Since then I've bought a couple more and had no issues. I'd never buy any basses from China because they are cheaply made plus they are a communist country. Basses made in South Korea are made very well also. I'll be checking this bass it looks and sounds really good. Thanks for the review.🤘
It's funny how they try to find out why are those basses so inexpensive. Maybe ist just that over 1K for a P Bass, the simplest bass ever, too much.
It really does sound great. Though the headstock looks home made.
That trussrod access slot is a bit of an eye sore.
Really? why is that?
It's very functional, you don't need to take off the neck to a just it
I'm very good with the truss Rod adjusting Location
That second dude sounds like joe rogan
I didn't like the p5 pickups
I changed them
What did you swap them with?
@@MemphisMike901 geezer butler emg ,much better
I don’t want to be that guy but this is the P4. The P5 is $599. Other than that I appreciate the insight. I’m thinking really hard about this bass or the PJ model.
Turn up the bass on the amp. Problem solved
Take the plastic off of the pick ups
Couldn’t disagree more about the color and look. I’m soooo sick of all basses having the same exact red tortoise shell pic guard. It doesn’t go with everythiNg! Especially this color. Please stop it, bass manufacturers! Buy a colorwheel and learn how to use it! They are all so very ugly. I can’t drop any amount of money on something this hideous. this green is pale and boring. Looks like the porcelain from my grandma’s bathroom set installed circa 1978. Or at the very least the color of the toothpaste she used. It sickens me the basses I would’ve owned but for the style-less thoughtless tacky clashing color choices they’ve used on them. bassists deserve better.
