Try calling 211. It's a free community service, and the people answering the phones are trained to provide the kind of information you're looking for. If that doesn't work, please comment again, and we'll try something else.
Hi, @BarbaraHolt I'm deleting the Stewart C posts; there were lots of them, and I think that makes them spam. But my contact info is on the About tab if needed. Thanks for watching!
At this point in time, I get SSDI. I no longer get SSI, because I've been disabled all of my life. Furthermore, both parents paid into Social Security, that which is why I qualify for SSDI. If I was to apply for a )PASS( that which stands for Plan to Achieve Self-Support, I would get SSI again instead of SSDI. My only grave concern about is, there goes my Medicare. I do believe that the same thing would be true if I applied for a )PESS( that which is the abreviation for Plan Essential for Self-Support. If I lose SSDI and go back on SSI, there goes my Medicare. So applying for a grant, I'm afraid is better for me.
@rickhodgkins6937 Those benefit systems are certainly complex, as you are well aware. I'm afraid that it is outside of my knowledge base. Are you connected to a Medicare navigator who could confirm your suspicions or help in another way? I'm not connected to those systems; I recall a family member who was helped by a navigator, which is why I suggest it. www.medicare.gov/talk-to-someone
Goodness, you are tackling a lot! I looked online at the State of Florida website, and found the Florida Public Assistance Program. It has a South Florida Customer Call Center, 866-762-2237. I hope that will help.
What website would you suggest for grants for a disabled firefighter? I'm not a veteran so I wouldn't qualify there. But I'm trying to get a septic and well on my property so I can move on it. Maybe even a grant for a small building. But if I can just move onto the property I can save up the little I get every month from SSI to get what I need in life.
Thanks so much for the time to leave your question. There are two links in the description of the video that I hope might help. I'll name them here, but if they don't work, please comment again and I'll look for something else. The first link is benefits.gov. It has a questionnaire that the website says will take up to 30 minutes, but hopefully it will give you some resources. Second, there is a list of grants, at s3.amazonaws.com/reeve-assets-production/Grants-for-Individuals-QA-6-9-21.pdf . On the bottom of page 2 is an overview of home modification grants info for home needs. But the rest of the doc is a long list of grants that may or may not be a fit. And thanks for your service as a firefighter.
Thank you very informative. Would you happen to know how I can find grants in Michigan for emergency dental work or hardship. I applied for one last year. They asked me to pay them $29.99 for a list.
@jjryanwarren7176 I recently found findhelp.org, a free website that connects you to local services, based on your zip code. Maybe something is listed there for you. Thanks for watching!
Hello, do you have a grant video for parent’s of special needs? Our son is physically disabled and he’s about 3 years old. We have very little help with our situation. Thank you in advance.
@RedMuffs Try these 2 resources, to see if they will help: (1) Call the phone number 211 (free call). The operators are trained to connect you to the local services you need. (2) The Christopher Reeve Foundation published a 14-page help document for people with disabilities, including children. It is free, online at s3.amazonaws.com/reeve-assets-production/Grants-for-Individuals-QA-6-9-21.pdf
I would suggest looking for local charities and missions that provide free services. Many time it's not a grant, but a local service that provides the best help. I hope that works for you!
I have been denied transportation from the VA hospital and wondering if this grant is good for an automobile Van so I can get to my medical appointments and to the grocery store to buy food?
@BenjaminGonzalez-wv3cy Try www.findhelp.org/ You enter your zip code and all kinds of local services are listed, including transportation options. They're not paying me to post this; it just looks to me like a good option to get local help.
What website would you advise for grants for CBO supporting school-going disabled kids? We are running a community-based organization that supports school-going disabled youths to achieve their goals. Any small financial support will go a long way to change their destiny.
@JamesOmolo I have two suggestions, and please let me know if these help. See if there is a United Way or a community foundation near you. It's because the government doesn't care about men, I thought you understood that, men are disposable that's why, I can say this because I'm a 36 year old male who gets a whole whipping $950 a month to pay all my bills which ISN'T ENOUGH ! but no one cares because of what I have in between my legs. Be careful. Went for a boiler change as money broke mid winter and managed to get a disabled grant to pay half the costs. Whilst the boiler being fitted I was racially abused by a tenant of rotherham metropolitan Borough Council. Within 24 hours of disabled grant boiler fitted I was served antisocial behaviour / noise warnings for having it fitted. I complained about this and the racism but no response. Just another antisocial behaviour warning for having the boiler fitted in my property. So be very careful of labour councils.
