This video will not help a single veteran. There is NO money available. This video is all just dishonesty, made to sound good & get clicks. I'm a disabled veteran of 40+ years, who has been homeless for the past 30 years. The dishonesty in this video creates victims out of heroes. Shameful & disgusting!
I am a 100% service connected combat veteran and while I am very grateful for the assistance the VA does offer, I struggle to understand how $48,000 a year is comparable to the income possible if I wasn't disabled due to my service. It should be at least $75,000 a year because I certainly would have earned much more without my injuries. I just do not get how the VA squares that one.. seems very dishonest and minimum for the 1% that choose to fight for the 99%. I am blessed and grateful, as I said but still. Do not throw peanuts at me and call it steak.
@@grantchatter it's not on you. It is on the VA to stop paying top executives 300,000 or more a year and start paying us what we are due. There is plenty of money in the budget, but the top players like their yachts and figure we get enough to live and that's all we deserve. It is on the politicians that get free education for their children without ever risking life and limb and steal millions from the people every chance they get. Corruption is the issue, plain and simple corruption. Every single disabled Vet deserves a minimum of 40,000 a year at 60 to 75% and at least 75,000 for 100%.
I understand why the emphasis is on 100% disability for veterans, but the operative word here is still VETERANS. Whether we actually picked up a weapon and fought, whether we incurred debilitating disabilities or not, we all still put on the uniform. Some of us are retired (military, civilian or both). We may have conditions that come with age, or latent service-connected conditions may surface. Many of us are also not as young as we used to be, though we may think it. I have had one knee replacement so my ladder climbing days are over. I am also developing other conditions which may adversely affect my ability to help myself. I have endured several very cold winters in a house with substandard windows. I got an estimate of $17,100.00 to replace nine of them. I would really appreciate direction toward some help!
I have another video, on home repairs. Lots of links in the description below the video. Does this help with the window replacement? th-cam.com/video/eBIDzpKgV4g/w-d-xo.html
I am a 100% connected veteran, and these "grants" have never been available for me, like many others, I was simply thrown out into the streets because I could no longer navigate the rat race physically or mentally, and the remainder of the energy, and motivation I had left after that, was spent trying to get the VA to treat me correctly, so I could break free from this rollercoaster, that never happened, and I have never, ever known a veteran, that has ever benefited from anything in this video, we get told things like this alot, but it ends up being a ruse to get our money.
@NerdCoding A member of my family runs a statewide nonprofit veteran service agency (and a Vietnam vet himself). He coordinates services for veterans, to fill in the gaps you mention. If you want to email me the state you live in, maybe I can find those services in your state, and share those contact links? My email is on the About page of the Grant Chatter site, www.youtube.com/@grantchatter/about
Those services should not have to be magically "found", or hire someone to navigate, or know a guy that knows a guy that can get you a hookup. That's called grifting, usury.
Thanks for watching all the way to the end of the video, to have the time point you cited! That is a real kindness. Though the subject of these comments reveals real struggles that are faced by too many veterans.
@PhilipHill I will pay more attention to that difference the next time I address resources for veterans. Thank you for pointing that out. I posted a link in your other comment, just below, that I hope will help.
YES SIR!!!....you are correct and as a 100% disabled combat veteran of the iraq war, I THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice...if it was not for you guys that went before me then i would not have the benefits that i have today.
@@hoofarted8709 I'm a fellow combat vet of Iraq also and I'm 100% they don't care about us. It seems to me is easy to send men to war at all cost but when we return home we have to jump through hoops and the government has to look through the couches for money to help combat vets suffering from PTSD, TBI, and Suicide just to name a few. They make us jump through hoops to get benefits we fought for. Make that make sense. I just find that odd...
@@davidmorales7371YES YOU CAN…..ESPECIALLY IF YOU PAY TAXES AND HAVE BEEN TRAINED AND CERTIFIED IN HURRY UP AND WAIT…..IF UNCLE SAM WANTED U TO HAVE A WIFE…..THEY WOULD HAVE ISSUED YOU ONE…..THAT STATEMENT ALONE IS ENOUGH FOR ANY VETERAN TO BE 100% DISABLED!!! Great Vid as I am a 100% Service Disabled Vet. I think it's important to know that the SBA isn't very helpful or veteran friendly. In fact, everything they offer is based on either credit, financials or other qualifiers which put disabled-vets at a huge disadvantage.
@D.G.1980 Thank you for watching! Yes, the mix of grants compared to other financing options is something I'm going to study and post videos about. Grants hold such great promise - except for how scarce they can be.
I agree. There is a ton of talk about loans and grants for SDVOSB to "start a business" however, to qualify you need a minimum of 2 years of profitable business shown on tax returns, with good credit and collateral... sounds like that business is already up and running fine...
I left the military 50 years ago, back then we were on our own. Noone gave a damn about Nam Vets. There was no help, you either lived or died and nobody cared, least of all the government. Now 50 years later there are a lot of programs for those getting out and transitioning to civilian life and that is great. I sure don't want our service people left out in the cold like we were. BUT there are still no programs for us older Vet, again we are forgotten. I find many other older Vets that feel they have been swept aside. I had one old Viet Nam vet tell me that he felt forgotten, but "It's alright I'll die soon and then they wouldn't have to worry about me, if they ever really did" Us older Vets are not the only ones forgotten. Many don't know or really care that there more than 60,000 Veterans living in cardboard boxes or under overpasses. Hundreds if not thousands die every winter from exposure. WHY? Do these fine solders not matter? Our government doesn't even keep track of the numbers. Do they want to start a business or a farm? A blanket might be nice. Clean socks would be good, Hell even something to eat would be a good thing. I love the fact that there are great programs for our Veterans I really do.
I have several uncles who served in Vietnam, and heard stories about how poorly they were treated. I'm working right now on a new video that shows a simple way for people in need to find the charities that want to help them - so they can get that warm blanket, clean socks and a good meal. Coming out in a few days. Hopefully it can help. And I hope it doesn't sound hollow to thank you for your service, even 50 years later.
As a disabled veteran, I just wanted you to know how how grateful I am that you’ve spent so much time and effort curating these grants for veterans and ALL Americans. New sub! ❤
@bonnaroo2k2 Thank you! Your kind words are very encouraging. The comments below this video tell me I need to add more videos to serve veterans, so I'm sketching out some ideas. Suggestions are very welcome. Thanks for the sub!
Dear Grant Chatter, I am an older Vietnam vet, over 19 years of service in a couple of branches. I was medically discharged 100 days before my retirement date. I did everything I could for over 10 years but it was not enough to hold my second family together. Now I am almost confined to a power chair and legally blind. But like Steven Hawkings my brain keeps working. Over twenty years ago I figured out how to pay people for being my customers, I just need to marry it to almost any business. This is an ongoing business today that can be brought together with almost any business to create a reason for customers to buy not once but every time from me. But I lack computer skills and living on my social security I need funding and training. Not even e-com providers will talk to you unless you have 30-50K to invest, oh yes, they will build you a business but 90 days to maybe 6 months they cut you loose and it’s sink or swim. Like the Admiral says “not looking for a handout, but a little hand up”. Is there any life out there.
Thank you, sir, for your service. I have two website links that I hope can help. For your business needs, there is a well-established and free business mentoring program called Service Corps of Retired Executives. They have a mentoring program just for veterans, led by veterans. That link is www.score.org/veteran-entrepreneurs. The second link is to find local help for any other concerns you might have. Go to www.findhelp.org/ and enter your zip code to see what is available. I did a training on how to use this second website in one of my videos, at the 04:45 mark, th-cam.com/video/SUJrH6_lq1Q/w-d-xo.html
I heard about the farming for vets. It's only for vet's straight out of the military. I need a tractor and fencing for my property to get the soil right and protect the property from people and wild animals.
@PhilipHill Thank you for pointing out that difference. I found something that I hope will help. Purple Heart Homes has an assistance program called Veterans Aging in Place (don't have to have a Purple Heart to qualify). Information and the application form at at this link, purplehearthomesusa.org/apply/
Grants of any kind are difficult to get; they're very limited on purpose. I'm working on a new set of videos that provide much more local information, and hopefully improve the odds of finding support.
@@grantchatter I am in a similar situation. I am an "older" veteran (retiree), making about $25K annually, with Social Security and my retirement pay. My disability (tinnitus) doesn't qualify for anything from VA, and I need massive repairs on my mobile home. It is structurally sound, but I need things done, such as leveling a doorway, upgraded windows, and a decent roof. The roof keeps out the elements, but is a glorified patchwork of metal, wood and shingles. I am not in a financial position to move (not that I want to), and I can't afford what needs to be done, without incurring financial hardship on myself and my wife.
@oldfart269 Habitat for Humanity has a Veterans home repair program. Here is the link to the website, www.habitat.org/volunteer/near-you/veterans-build and here is the link to find your local Habitat office, www.habitat.org/volunteer/near-you/find-your-local-habitat Also, I wonder if local services for the general public would help, www.findhelp.org/
I got out in 1981. (joined 17 days too late for the GI bill) I've been disabled since then & homeless for the past 30 years. There is no help available. Beware of all the liars, as they're numerous.
I'm a 40% vet and have been out of work for a year due to medical issues...I'm facing foreclosure and all the crisis line person did was say they can't help me, then they e-mailed me a link for section 8 housing! What an insult!
@JO-ly3hi I found some articles and links that I hope will help. (1) VA Housing Assistance, www.va.gov/housing-assistance/ (2) Your state's division of Veterans' Affairs; (3) Article about Veteran mortgage assistance programs, upsolve.org/learn/mortgage-help-for-veterans/
I'm a 60% disabled service connected veteran. I own a small company that specializes in developing precision tools for aligning and calibrating most woodworking machinery. I hold 8 U.S. patents. I would love to start a farm. I’m a vet and I work everyday and would to be doing something other than tool and die. Not saying that what I do not fulfilling, but more like I would love something that seems a little more important. 😁 thank you!
Is there a type of farming you're interested in? I could look to see if there are additional support opportunities that might be a bit more specialized.
@justinbooker5535 I'm on it! It will take a bit of work, but in the meantime, this looked like a good article to review for opportunities outside of grants, agronomag.com/how-to-start-a-farm-with-no-money/
@justinbooker5535 Here we go: the links I found aren't super-specific to the crops you listed, but they are gov't and non-gov't resources to find the people who have advice/funds to start the process. (1) If you're new to gardening/farming, look to your state's cooperative extensions, www.almanac.com/cooperative-extension-services (2) Check with your state's department of agriculture for their supports for farmers and to develop specialty crops like the ones you mentioned. (3) There is a Grant Chatter video on grants for farmers, th-cam.com/video/54RVQqQ1lM4/w-d-xo.html (4) Here are three links to articles about getting started, and how large the farm needs to be: www.farmers.gov/your-business/beginning-farmers, tinyurl.com/2p97w9bw and tinyurl.com/45hbh6z5
@terrancewoods8229 If you go to the description below the video, and click on 'Show More", you'll find a list of links to non-VA home repair and modification opportunities (VA is there, too, but you can skip that). I hope they can help.
Oh, and I just found this link that lists other VA Home Modification opportunities. Maybe there is something there. www.veteransaidbenefit.org/home_renovation_grants.htm

Thank you for such a great video! I am a 100% permanently disabled veteran wanting to start a commercial cleaning company in AZ. Where should I start for funding?
@coreychisley6369 Thank you for your kind words and for your service! I found a link for AZ that I hope will have useful information and resources. If not, let me know. azsbdc.net/what-we-do/veterans/
Not much in the way of actual grants. Most of it sends you to links for small business loans. Some of the programs offered up are good programs but very little information. If you can get in with one of the program groups, perhaps you can get a grant, most of this is loans and specialty help. USDA is not a whole hell of a lot of help, especially since covid. I hope it helps someone.
@elmarty4803 You are correct; grants are very limited. In these videos I try to spell out how grants are part of a mix. So many scammers have made it sound like grants are free money, but as you have seen, the time and resources it takes to find and write a grant, or loan, etc., is not free.
Thank you for this information I am at the top of the list when it comes to government procurement contracts and I am looking for any grants to be able to kick-start my LLC I live in Pennsylvania so any information you could provide would be invaluable
@RollerSkatinSAGActor I'm working on an entirely new series of grants for veterans videos, focused on US regions. Keep watching for updates - and thanks for watching already!
@Loyalty_Royalty619 Thank you for watching! I have two ideas to start: (1) You want to start local in your funding search. If you look at the description in this video, scroll down to "Links mentioned in video". Specifically, there are links to local, veteran-supporting business development offices from the SBA and the VA, plus free mentoring by and for veterans at SCORE. The mentors can be local in person or online. Grants are likely part of a funding mix. (2) Outside of this video, I found an article that lists multiple ways to start and finance a gym, smallbusiness.chron.com/startup-funding-gym-17540.html
Is there a program that will help us vets get trademark/copyright/patent applications written and processed? I spent a couple of hours reading through the federal websites and my head exploded. Their motto should be "Obfuscation is our most important product".
@markfinley3703 🤣 It certainly seems that way! Two links that I hope can help: (1) the US Patent Office, re a 2022 Veterans Entrepreneurship event. There was also a 2021 event, so I assume there will be a 2023 event, plus the rest of the website for info about the patent process for veterans, www.uspto.gov/about-us/events/2022-veterans-innovation-and-entrepreneurship-program (2) a recent Grant Chatter video, Grants for Inventors, which is more generic in approach, with lots of links in the description below, th-cam.com/video/7nwmGhH25zQ/w-d-xo.html

Like many other 100% disabled/& retired combat veterans, I have been struggling to exist. I live in the “peoples republic of Massachusetts” & over the years have had massive disappointment after another. These programs exist on paper, but receiving the help in reality is another story. I appreciate the information put out there, but from my personal experience many of these are massive disappointments & so far aren’t tangible. If anyone legitimately gives a shit & has the answers, then please help. I need Assistance in many areas to include adaptive housing. I doubt anyone will respond, but I’m desperate and throwing this out there.

@@grantchatter First let me start by genuinely thanking you for the effort. Thank you. As mentioned, these programs & others exist on paper to those that qualify. Getting them to work & manifest into tangible benefits, earned through the sacrifice one’s body & mind, paid many times over through blood, sweat, tears, & selfless service is another story & too frequently heart breaking due to empty people not giving a shit, to be blunt. Most say the phrase “Thank you for your service” & move on feeling better about themselves, oblivious to the unintentional self-serving psychology behind the statement; the veteran knows what they did, or did not do. All while the qualified disabled combat veteran is in the same situation of disarray but worse off from continually being let down/beaten down from empty promises from lukewarm people. Take action through works, rather than repeating shallow phrases & words. That is not accusatory, just a statement. Some are in political positions, others are supposed to be bound by the duty of their occupation, getting paid for working in the position to make the difference, etcetera; yet are counter productive and borderline saboteurs. In my many years of experience most do nothing to help the veteran in need or even execute their assigned job/tasks which they are being paid to do. Society is failing those that selflessly served, some gave all, all gave some. Some organizations squander funds, some attempt to poach off of the veteran. These people answered the call when the nation needed them, the realistic reciprocity is almost nonexistent in the real world application. Way too many have fallen through the cracks, tragically some could not find a way and became casualties of the aftermath of war. I am speaking from not only personal experience, but from speaking with other veterans with their unique problems in attempt to help them out from knowledge attained from trial and error through a broken system. I do not have all the answers, I have been seeking them for quite some time. Any lessons I have learned, I share & help my brothers & sisters in arms as best as possible. Everyone has something offer in one form or another, however they are not. Overall this rotten decay is nothing new, that does not make it acceptable or right. Be the positive difference! I will look at what you sent, if you want feedback I will provide it. Thank you for your effort, I hope you are sincere. Please forgive any grammatical or spelling errors, talk to text is difficult with a Bostonian accent.
@jamesfrancisaloysiuspercev925 I've read every comment under this video (and hopefully have replied to them all), and much of what you say is repeated throughout. How sad and frustrating. As one who has worked for decades in the nonprofit sector, I might steer your attention more to those opportunities in the list I provided for you, to see if you can find better results there.

@RaysTravel Good question. I think the Operation Homefront link in the description might have options. If not, let me know; I can produce a video just on grants for first responders.
@@grantchatter I checked Operation Homefront website. It looks like it's just for veterans. That would be great if you could make one for disabled first responders. Lots of us out here and rent prices can lead many to be homeless. I for one am trying to pay off some raw land. I don't get enough to afford a house or anything like that. So I figured peace it all together. Do up a septic and a way to create power. Eventually a well but those can be expensive. And get a cheap mobile home or something. Heck even the septic can be expensive. But it's possible if a person does a little at a time. Like just putting in the tank then later the drainage field. I have often wondered if there is any help for disabled first responders. It could make life easier at being able to live better. Thanks in advance for any information you can make on the subject.

Most grants and programs are extremely complicated and difficult to get through the red tape. From my perspective you pretty much need to be a lawyer or hire one to figure it all out. Here is an idea... someone start a program that has specialists complete the paperwork and application process for all of these so called grants and veteran programs. It seems like only people who won't have any problem raising money or have all the money needed already to start a business and keep it going during the start up phase. Any time I tried to pursue something like this I just get any and fed up because it is complicated and difficult to complete. I honestly don't believe any of this helps the average veteran it seems to me they are all geared toward those with good credit who's business is already more than financially set. I am 90% disabled and I need a grant for my small business but it is useless to even try due to the complexity and lack of willingness to help someone like me.
@savagecombatives2765 I'm sorry you are discouraged. I wonder if working with a (free) mentor who is also a veteran business owner would help? www.score.org/veteran-entrepreneurs

Hi, I hope you’re well. I am working on my dissertation. Is there a way to possibly receive assistance ? My topic is related to assisting veterans. Thanks 🙏🏽
@FaryMaldonado Good question! Are you in the US? You can use the email address in my About page if you prefer, to answer that question. Location is a big factor in grant availability. Then I can search for opportunities. Thank you for asking!
@FaryMaldonado Thanks for the clarification. And you're looking for a scholarship to finish your dissertation, correct? I found two links that might have resources for you: (1) the Hawaii Community Foundation and its scholarship options at www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/grants-and-scholarships-for-community-causes-and-students (2) The Financial Aid website at the University of Hawaii at Manoa,manoa.hawaii.edu/catalog/tuition-fees-expenses/financial-aid/ . I don't know where you're getting your degree (and congrats in advance!), but there should be a resource officer on campus to help.
seems useless for viet nam era vets that dont have service related disabilities...glad to see they're helping newly discharged vets, especially those who are disabled, but I'd like to go back to school at 67, used all my GI Bill decades ago and dont know where to turn for assistance to make a career change/reentry... Oh well.
@billr2375 I created a short video on resources for Vietnam vets, with a lot of links to resources in the description below the video. th-cam.com/users/shorts_2CyxeNmUdw?feature=share And if that doesn't work, contact the school you're interested in attending for options. They are likely to have scholarships of all kinds.

@FrankDelimur That does seem to be the largest focus. Is there something in particular that you're looking for? You can see in the comments below this video that I've added many other opportunities based on the question.

@DennisLintz Thank you for your service, and I do have lots of links to home repairs options. They are found in the description section of this Grants for Veterans video. Look for "Links mentioned in video", then scroll down to "Grants for veterans to buy, repair, or adapt a home". There are links to 6 opportunities. @TheDynamiteGuy They are there, though targeted and limited. Benefits are more often the path to take, which I mention throughout the Grant Chatter channel's discussion of "grants" for individuals.

This video is all just dishonesty, made to sound good & get clicks.

The dishonesty in this video creates victims out of heroes.
Shameful & disgusting!
@@andrewocean4gmail587info plz
I am a 100% service connected combat veteran and while I am very grateful for the assistance the VA does offer, I struggle to understand how $48,000 a year is comparable to the income possible if I wasn't disabled due to my service. It should be at least $75,000 a year because I certainly would have earned much more without my injuries. I just do not get how the VA squares that one.. seems very dishonest and minimum for the 1% that choose to fight for the 99%. I am blessed and grateful, as I said but still. Do not throw peanuts at me and call it steak.
@JSabh The comments below this video do indicate fluctuations in services reported by Veterans from the VA. I wish I had a better answer.
There is spc for people that actually can’t work. You can work and you get 50k tax free a year and don’t pay property tax. Stfu.
Absolutely agree 100%.

Thanks for watching all the way to the end of the video, to have the time point you cited! That is a real kindness. Though the subject of these comments reveals real struggles that are faced by too many veterans.
@@PBVaderRight.
A lot of the programs don't apply to all veterans mostly to the one's getting out of the military. All of us old timers are on our own
@PhilipHill I will pay more attention to that difference the next time I address resources for veterans.
As a veteran myself, I feel like that's fair. Can't rely on big government forever man. Make shit happen for yourself
My experience also.
This grant chatter person spreads false hope. Beware!
I've never known a single veteran in my life to get any grant of any kind.
Grants of any kind are difficult to get; they're very limited on purpose. I'm working on a new set of videos that provide much more local information, and hopefully improve the odds of finding support.
The hurdles are many
@ I'd like to see it. No offense, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.
I wish there were more grants for veterans, especially us "older" vets (I got out in 1994).
@nocarbsnation I’ve answered similar questions here in the comments section. Do any of the links I posted there help you?

@@grantchatter
First let me start by genuinely thanking you for the effort.
Brother ! Many overseas countries are open arms to us vets with assets they can use in their military programs . I'm signed up for their conceptual engineering program and waiting till my departure date .Many of these countries like CHINA,RUSSIA,ISRAEL,ETC. are a good choice with lucrative benefits!! Good luck !
My dad is a Vietnam Veteran that has many disabilities and has never received any compensations through the VA. They claim he has no % disability. His house is literally falling apart and can't seem to find any help anywhere...
@ThanatosTheDH I have a short video on grants for Vietnam Veterans, with lots of links in the description below the video, VA and non-VA. Does this help? th-cam.com/users/shorts_2CyxeNmUdw
Wow! Another outstanding video! There is enough resource information in this and the other three videos to fill a book. (a novella, at least ;)
I am preparing a mini-report for an article I want to post on my LinkIn site. Other than professional attribution when citing you as a source, would you like me to include anything else?
@cherylcuttineau7916 Thank you! I used to be a grant consultant, and those bibliographies were essentially my bread and butter. If you want to include my contact email for a reader's request for more information, that might be good (found on the About page of the channel site). Thank you for your encouragement, and if you'd like to discuss any further projects, email me!
Can you apply for Grant if live outside the United States?
@zanetirel4692 It depends. What do you need a grant for?
@@grantchatter buy a house since I’m not allowed to go outside that much due to my disability, and need to install certain machine so I can breath easily and to be able to move around since I can’t sit or stand for more then 5 mins.
@zanetirel4692 That sounds like something a benefit could provide instead of a grant. Try this link. It takes a few steps to review your needs and let you know what is available. www.benefits.gov/
Are there any available resources for a disabled vet who is trying to establish a nonprofit organization?
I’m working a new video right now for veterans. It includes nonprofits.
@ ok thanks! I have my idea and most things I think I need. I just have no idea how to get capital to get if off the ground.
There is another TH-cam channel that covers starting and running nonprofits in more detail than I do, www.youtube.com/@AmberMelanieSmith We're not connected; I just think she covers the subject well. Only for veterans or is disabled first responders included as well?
@RaysTravel Challenge accepted! I’ll post a video on grants for first responders in June.
@@grantchatter thank you. That will be much appreciated.
@RaysTravel I'm researching for the first responders video, but finding very similar links to two videos, which I'll link here. Do these provide the help you need? (1) Grants for Disabled Persons, th-cam.com/video/q-ZB53CNLhM/w-d-xo.html, and (2) another channel, Low Income Relief, has this and other videos that might help, th-cam.com/video/cFFczcKk59k/w-d-xo.html
@@grantchatter I really appreciate all you do. Your kindness and concern shows. As veterans, we are so used to programs being dangling carrots. It's easy for us to be discouraged. Thank you so much!
You're too kind. Thank you.
How can I get a VA grant to replace my home windows. Please let me know
@guadalupegonzalez9959 I'm looking at the VA website, and seeing ways to buy a home, but not repair a home. (2) A free searchable website is www.findhelp.org/ Enter your zip code, then click the Housing icon, then the link to local home repair organizations.
