    So the Routers have no true IP address themselves like the Switches to justify the network, Just the IP table protocol used with the IP's of the switches subnetworks. Do all routers usually talk on the Serial Port lines or if you put then under the Ethernet/Ports then they'd need more difficult IP addressing?

      @@shinasadida correct - those are serial connections, mostly used with packet over sonet (POS) interfaces, Serial interfaces, frame-relay setup, PPP, or HDLC connections. This tutorial could have used cross over cables between the routers, but normal WAN emulation is to show a low bandwidth serial connection. At least that is how most packet tracer files are..so its probably habit.

    Is it true that on router can facilitate up to maximum 2 LAN networks?
    The model that u have applied here - which network is this for? Is this for an office network that has different floors or departments or is this just a normal network for different classrooms?

    how can connect multiple routers with one router(router0-->router1,r2,r3,r4,r5,r6,r7) how can make static routing..please help me

    • @royherrera2006
      @royherrera2006 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you will used static routing,
      lets assumed that router 1 network 192.168.10.0/24 (fa0/0 with IP 192.168.10.1) is connected to R2 (fa0/0 with Ips 192.168.10.2) and R2 fa01 with IP 192.168.30.1 is connected to R3 fa0/0 with IP 192.168.30.2
      the command should be
      in R1 in exec mode.
      ip route 192.168.30.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.2
      in R2
      ip route 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.30.1
      router 1 2 and 3 fa/0 should be reachable..
      if you need actual command how the config works.

      @@royherrera2006 its too bad that packet tracer doesn't support route redistribution to make those scenarios much simplier.. static routing is usable and will work, but real world scenario it becomes unmanageable fairly quickly..

    • @patrickmallacoccio9430
      @patrickmallacoccio9430 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      3 floors with 50 pcs each - would require 3 - /26 networks, the 4 floors with 40 pcs each, would still require another 4 - /26 network spaces (40 pcs is over the allotted 30 host max on a /27, so /26 is next best option at 62 usable hosts),
      if the starting block is 192.168.0.0/23, then you can do the following 192.168.0.0/24 for the main block of the first 3 floors - separated into 192.168.0.0/26, 192.168.0.64/26, and 192.168.0.128/26. You would still have a /26 usable at the end of this block. The next block would be 192.168.1.0/24 for the 4 floor setup - 192.168.1.0/26, 192.168.1.64/26, 192.168.1.128/26, and 192.168.1.192/26 as the final subnet. That would get it done - just make sure routing is good to wherever those floors need to go. - HTH

    When I try to type in the rip network it just adds the ip 10.0.0.0 no matter which ip I put in. Have anyone experienced something like that?

    how did you get the IP address of the switches and PCs?

    • @cruzsendy
      @cruzsendy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Switch doesn't need IP

    • @patrickmallacoccio9430
      @patrickmallacoccio9430 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cruzsendy if the switch is only being used for layer 2 traffic, then I agree, but you don't place management on them in your tutorials? Classic Cisco is to set up a management ip on the switches of 192.168.99.x on vlan 99 and set an ip default-gateway on the switch of 192.168.99.1 and apply that 99.1 to a router on the lan segment sharing the switch..
