So close!! Loved the reaction. Here’s the context and the brilliant metaphor in this folk tale:
Context: This is the ending of the ancient Punjabi folk love story of Sohni & Mahiwal. Sohni, the girl, used to swim across the river to meet her lover Mahiwal using a clay pot. Alas one night Sohni’s jealous sister in law replaces it with an unbaked clay pot. This poetry captures a conversation between Sohni & the clay pot. Sohni despite knowing she might not make it still goes ahead and is begging the clay pot not to lose hope, ultimately perishing in the river.
    Metaphor:
The clay pot is our imperfect humanity, we’re made out of clay. In our quest to meet the Beloved (God), we are bound to perish with an unsound clay pot. The lines “The unsound can only have an unsound end” - reference our own destruction if we’re not spiritually sound. The ending lines “Hold firm to the grip of a sound guide…” ring true - find a spiritual guide, someone who is a “baked clay pot” if you will.

This emphasis in the poetry on the clay pot - the futility, desperation and sad demise, instead of on the main characters of the folktale is what makes this such a brilliant take on the futility of man navigating the trials & tribulations of this world and ultimately failing to meet the Beloved.

An impressive explanation. I just love the way you told about the context and starting , middle and last lines. And the real meanings of a relation between nature of Guider and the human.

Great reaction! As an explanation of the lyrics the following taken from web will make sense 'Sohni Mahiwal is a tragic love story which inverts the classical motif of Hero and Leander. The heroine Sohni, unhappily married to a man she despises, swims every night across the river using an earthenware pot to keep afloat in the water, to where her beloved Mahiwal herds buffaloes. One night her sister-in-law replaces the earthenware pot with a vessel of unbaked clay, which dissolves in water and she dies in the whirling waves of the river'

Yeah this Punjabi song is depicting the Punjabi folk story of Sohni Mahiwaal.. ❤ Chennab is one of the five mighty rivers of Punjab. Chennab is also called "Chanaa" in Punjabi.. I'm Punjabi living 40km from Chennab River.
Long story short, the make singer being male "Mahiwal" and telling the girl "Sohni" not to cross might river to meet him as it's too dangerous.. but "Sohni" who came there to fill the water up in her pot this is what she used to tell her parents 😂.. she used to do that regularly.. she decided to make that pot as a life jacket type thing that night as well.. but the waves were too furious they could make to each other.. The female singer represents "Sohni" and says i can't stop myself to meet you. Whatever happens i don't know i will meet you.. and they both were drowned..
In metafor (i don't know how to spell that) there maybe a lot of meanings..

The instrument the lady at 13:51 is playing is called "Sagar Veena". She's the only player in the world of this variant of the instrument. She's also mother to the two male singers in the song: Ali Noor and Ali Hamza.
Flex: I heard her play live once when she was a guest at my uni, long before this song came.
She's also my namesake 🙈: Ms. Noor Zehra!

Its classic folk ballad based upon the conversation between Sohni (female lover) and the clay pot and the distressing imagery of the events of their journey across the river
That night Sohni used clay pot in order to cross the river (i suppose she used it like boat cos it also float on water) but unfortunately that pot was UNBAKED (as they said in song) and she drowned and died, and his lover Mahiwal only greet the corpse of his lover - its urdu fold story like cindrella i guess

20: 06 to the end of the song is sequence of her last words to clay pot while drowning. before that it's all between her and her unbaked clay pot story. That pot did warned her that it"s made of unbaked clay and won't be able to make it across the raging river with her, she should not depend upon some one undependable.

Brief is = It's a coversation between Sohni and Pot. Sohni is carrying pot in river as a life jacket and saying to pot we have to go across the river, and pot is giving her red alert not to as i'm not very suitable, i'm made of clay, this night river is furious with waves. I'tsa love story where Sohni is going to meet Mahival and in this crossing the river process she got drowned. Sad but reality clay pot will never save you :))

Hey Johnny i love your reaction and the way u understand the whole concept of the song 👍❤👏that's one meaning of the song about soni mahiwal the other spiritual meaning is that ' clay pot ' in the song describes ourselves we all made by clay if we want to heaven not hell after that life we do good deeds and stay away from bad things and deeds and ' river ' describes the difficulty of our life in the song if we do good things and struggle we complete the river and get rewarded if we don't do good things and allow ourselves doing wrong whatever we want who is actually wrong that's we like that ' clay pot ' who driven in the river that's means we waste our life and last part means we chose a good guide who guided us the way we spend our lives the way Allah want i hope you understand what i am trying to explain 👍❤

It's a folk song telling the story of two lovers, As you have Romero and Juliet, and the level of their madness for each other, madly in love girl from a different tribe who's lover from another tribe lived across the river called Channa, the other side of the river where she lived, they fell in love some how fell in with each other going against their cultural values, one dark night she deiced to cross the river with the help of a clay pot when no one might see her.
In the start of the song that base singer is telling clay pot side story, that pot she intends to use to cross the raging river that night is warning her that it is made of unbaked clay, so don't be stubborn girl don't depend upon me with such raging river named with such high waves splashing, the girl says in reply to the pot that no matter what I will do it to meet my lover at any cost, even if it means to die, if I made it across I will get to meet my beloved and if I didn't made it across then my lover will be able to meet my dead body washed across his side. In any of both cases am going to meet him no matter what.
