Isn't she an absolute musical prodigy. The first time I heard this it affected my heart so much, made me cry. Everything about it from the Sufi based lyrics, instruments, composition, Adnans voice and of course when Hadiya sings. Just a stunning masterpiece. Really enjoyed your reaction.
In Pakistan there is no singing academy out there . Every singer has his own effort in achieving success and producing vocals
Yes she was younger than 10 back when she sang this. She was just 8 years old. She was absolutely magnificent 👑. Loved your reaction btw❤️.
I am hearing it millionth time and still getting goosebumps too 12:12
She was 6 year's old when this song come out
You can call it rock sufi 6:42
Love you brother from lahore Pakistan ❤❤❤❤❤❤
THE FIRST MUSICAL INSTRUMENT YOU SEE IS CALLED DAMBOORAA,
IT IS MOSTLY USED IN BALOCHISTAN AND NORTHERN AREAS OF PAKISTAN AND SIND AS WELL
Hi Johnny, amazing reaction as always! I may not comment on every video reaction of yours but I never miss a chance to check out your awesome videos and like them. You have been a breath of fresh air in dissecting through the intricacies of Pakistani music despite being a non-Pakistani and your outlook on videos always teaches us Pakistanis a thing or two as well. Your knowledge is definitely immense and precious so thank you for selecting Pakistani music for reactions. I feel that most channels on TH-cam focus too much on popular genres and disregard countries like Pakistan. So I appreciate what you do for Pakistani music a lot.
Xulfi (pronounced as Zulfi; an amazing musician / genius of a producer) is the producer of Nescafé Basement series. He started it in 2012 and I believe it had 5 seasons. It showcased the emerging and underground musicians of Pakistan. It was the first series of its kind where artists who needed that extra push to get into limelight were highlighted vs. Coke Studio deals usually with already established artists and their songs. Fun fact: Xulfi is also the producer of Coke Studio Season 14. The changes you witness in it with all 13 brand new songs and music videos and all is all Xulfi’s creations and many of his discovered artists from Nescafé Basement joined his venture in Coke Studio Season 14 too. Many of them are in fact performing in this very song too.
Soch is a band (..ch pronounced as the sound in chair). So it’s not like socks. This band is formed of 2 musicians only: the lead singer with the really good hair (he is also a genius musician and an amazing lyricist who has penned down awesome songs for not only his own band but also other folks especially in Coke Studio Season 14). The singer’s name is Adnan Dhool and the amazing guitarist is Rabi Ahmad. They were formed as a Sufi rock band around 2010 era. So this music is also classified as Sufi rock music. Sufi music is one where you sing songs in the praise of God in spiritual context.
The first 2-string instrument you saw was “Dambura / Dombra.” It’s a very popular instrument from Turkish folk background and has ended up in Pakistan at some point back in history. The other instrument with the peculiar song like a box with keyboard was “Harmonium.” It’s a hand-pumped instrument of course.
You asked about Hadiya. She was 8-years why she sang this song. She is awesome and has sung a few songs here and there but I haven’t seen much of her. I see her in special events here and there in tv shows, etc. but she has not been much on scene. Perhaps she is focusing on studies given her age or just being forgotten because there are not a lot of opportunities available in Pakistan to groom emerging artists especially children of her age. It’s a sad reality. Anyhow, I hope she comes back with another hit soon. She is one gifted singer.
You spoke about how this song had a cinematic feel to it and I was in awe when you said so because Bollywood industry took this song and used it in one of their movies in 2020. So your take on it was right on!
Nescafé Basement is Xulfi’s brilliance at its best. You should definitely check out other of its songs especially Aadat the instrumental, Gharoli, Resistance, Mehbooba, Fanaa, Tu Mera Nahin, Sweet Child of Mine, Larger than life, Awari, Haiderium, Love me again, etc.
Can’t wait for you to explore more sounds there.
P.S. Pakistani tv shows have got soundtracks / background songs that are called OSTs or original soundtracks. They have a different feel to them altogether since they are mostly romantic songs. They are another variation of excellence in Pakistani music industry. But they are totally different from Pakistani alternative rock music that you are watching here. So just some info..
I love your reaction 😢❤❤
Pakistani people speak URDU. I’m probably spelling it wrong…but COKE STUDIO highlights some amazing artists. The guy in the red hat is TURKISH…he’s playing a TURKISH instrument. The little girl is incredible and her vocals are stunning. I WOULD RECOMMEND SHREYA GOSHAL and a SINGER from EGYPT…AFROTO a recent original on COKE STUDIO.
* I love an Amazing Artist from RUSSIA 🇷🇺 who has a five octave vocal…her name is DIANA ANKUDINOVA and she performs live in MOSCOW covering two different OST’s of HANS ZIMMER MOVIES 🎥 “DUNE” and 007’s “No Time to Die”. She is now 20 years old but her powerful vocals is over the top of the full ORCHESTRA.
Beautiful
