    When I was a young ‘un my first(and only) drum teacher suggested I add resistance by using a cushion occasionally instead of the pad. This added strength to my hand muscles as well as making me focus on the correct strokes and not just the rebound from the pad or drum head. Good video Trev you’re looking hale and hearty👍

      Thanks for feedback
      I used to do a bit of pillow practice when young really keeps you honest and like you said good for strengthening
      These days i dont work on strength i work on letting go of sticks more and allowing them to freely move and do my best to relax
      I hold sticks in a way that i can really feel the wood of the sticks that probably sounds weird haahaa
      Thanks once again

      If you can bang out the doubles on literally any surface, you are well on your way lol. Drum corps forced me to manke EACH note count. Due to that, I play HARD, and most of my doubles are actual strokes and not just rebound.

    Do you literally count 100 bars while counting each 1/4 too? How do you know when you hit 100? really counting to 100?

    Fine,, but why are you not indicating the Note values ? It’s almost as if YOU DON’T KNOW THEM. FYI-the singles you’re playing are eighth notes, the doubles are 16ths- why don’t U KNOW THIS TREVOR???

    • @trevorgollagherdrums4610
      @trevorgollagherdrums4610  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No need for note values to do this exercise in my opinion and yes i do know note values thank you

      The notes i am playing of course can be counted as 1&2& 3er&r 4er&r making it one 4/4 bar made up of 4 eights notes and 8 sixteenths

    I use a gel pad to build strength and I use marching sticks, it helps a lot even after about 10 mins per day, I then pick up my 5B sticks and do my full session. Can't beat (pun) simple.

    • @trevorgollagherdrums4610
      @trevorgollagherdrums4610  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I was young, I used to use a pillow instead of a practice pad no bounce at all that was good for the hands too
      Thanks for your input
