    We installed the Viega manabloc after the foreclosure we bought turned out to have multiple burst copper lines. We removed all the old copper plumbing and completely rerouted all the water supply plumbing lines with pex piping connected to a pex manifold. The cost to replumb the whole house was remarkably low as we were able to do all the supply work ourselves.
    The advantages of a pex manifold system is faster hot water delivery, simplified plumbing repairs as any single plumbing fixture can be turned off without the entire house water supply being turned off.
    Pex piping through individual pex tubing runs distributed from a central pex manifold allows individual control of every hot and cold plumbing line in the house. For more content be sure and check us out at housebarons.com/

    Built a new master bath upstairs and had to tear out the ceiling on the first floor. Had the contractors replace all the copper pipe throughout the house with Pex. Red Pex tubing for hot, and Blue pex tubing for cold. Worked perfect, and no more copper leaching into the water, and no more guessing which pipe goes where.

    Great video. I have a viega manifold. Was trying to turn off my bathtub with pliers since I lost the turnkey tool and accidentally hit the manifold with the pliers and a teeny bit of water spit out. Does that mean I have a leak in the manifold?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Immaculate,
      I would keep an eye on it. If it’s cracked, seems like it would show by drips or moisture. Where did the water come from - a hose connection point or where you turn the valves on and off?
      Take your time and look at it very closely, if it’s broken in some way, it should be evident.
      Thx for watching!

      @@Housebarons Thank you so much for responding! The water droplets came out from where you turn the valve on and off. It seemed abnormal to me. Im monitoring the unit to see it water starts seeping out of the black box. Its been an hour and nothing yet. I have 4 valves turned off. I am in Texas with the hard freeze. Our water pressure is super low right now so maybe thats why its not leaking yet?

    Is there a specific type of pex you recommend? I noticed you didn't use red and blue you used white. Just curious on why? Thanks!

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jacob,
      I didn’t want to have to ‘worry’ if I had enough blue and enough red. I just had to to keep the hots separate from the colds.
      We used something called super pex - it’s what our plumbing supply carried.
      Thx for watching.

    Nice video. Why does this system give you hot water faster? What other benefits are there to installing a manifold like this?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Thaitchi,
      With pex & maniblock set-up, every hot and cold faucet has its own pex line running to it.
      With trunk and branch copper set-up, you may have a 3/4 inch trunk and off that 1/2 inch dia. branches go to several faucets.
      So when water leaves the water heater it has to fill the larger 3/4 copper trunk first and then the small branches that get their supply from the larger trunk.
      3/4 copper is more than 2x bigger BY VOLUME than 1/2 pex.
      Said another way, a 3/4 inch hot water line that cools down over hours of not being used, has to run more than 2x as long than 1/2 pex before that hot water from the water heater can push out all the cooled down water sitting in the hot water line.
      The smaller pex line has less water in it, so it takes less time to fill with new hot water - less time with you standing there waiting for water to get hot at the faucet.
      Another advantage is an issue with any faucet or fixture can be isolated / turned off and repaired, w/o shutting off all the water to a portion or all of the house.
      Another advantage - almost trained monkey can run pex - VERY simple AND fast to install.
      So it is DIY friendly, OR in theory should speed any plumbing job for a plumber. Will the plumber pass the savings on to you??? A question to ask.
      Hope that helps,
      Thanks for watching!

      @@Housebarons That makes a lot of sense. Being able to shut off individual fixtures sounds amazing. I know how it feels to not be able to use water when a repair is being done somewhere in the house. Thanks for the info!

    Do you require permits for doing this? We're buying a home in Florida that's going to require replacing the old copper pipes. I would like to do this myself.

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jamie,
      The quick answer is yes. Maybe not if the location was very rural.
      The next question is - can you the homeowner do the work and then get it inspected? Or does all plumbing work have to be done by licensed plumber.
      In our area that answer is different from county to county.
      The actual work using pex and a manabloc is very simple so long as you follow directions & don’t rush.
      Changes in technology has really made things easy for doing such work.
      The hardest part is getting the pex pipe to the plumbing locations.
      Check with you county building department for details.
