We have a smallholding and couldn't live without our 1963 35x. It still starts quickly and does a solid day's work. Occasionally need to clean the commutator on the (original) dynamo and have recently had to clean the starter solenoid for the first time ever.
My early days of hay turning were on a Dexta with a PZ haybob. Learnt a lot, made a few mistakes. The square baling on our farm was done by a 35 and a 35x with a New Holland 278 baler
Nice one Phil Spielberg!!!! The owld selfie stick is doing the job lad and now I know what the blue barrel is used for!!! Handy stand for the gopro!!!!! I had many happy days in the breeze on a 35X too!!!!
My brother has a 35 Massey Ferguson and I got a 539 IMT a copy of the 35 MF. The 539 IMT is also a very dependable tractor. I rebuilt the engine of the 539 IMT and used the IMT replacement parts both has the same Perkins engine. But the IMT improved the engine where the Massey Ferguson 35 has one ring around the piston the IMT has two rings around each piston. Which causes better compression and more horsepower. I also replaced oil pump , had the head shaved redone crank & bearings IMT stands for Industrial Motor Tractor. All the years growing up back in in late 50's and 60's,70's we had many Massey Ferguson tractors but my dad started out with a Allis Chambers and a 9n Ford then a 35 MF , 65MF , 135 MF , 165 MF , 175 MF , the a 255 MF , 265 MF, 275 MF, 285, 361MF and the last tractor my dad bought was a 471MF. I have two tractors the 539 IMT and a 5320 John Deere. I like all brands of tractors especially the older models. I use my 539 IMT to rake hay with I have two rakes a 55 New Holland roller rake and a 10 wheel V-rake . Your 35 runs good another thing I love about these little tractors is that they are so fuel efficient . My little 539 IMT will only use 3/4 of a gallon of fuel in a hours time pulling the 55 New Holland Rake and not much more pulling the V-rake. The most the 539 will use is 1 1/4 gallons in a hour Bushhogging or plowing. With only a 9 gallon fuel tank it will usually go all day on one tank. These little old tractors will last forever, without much up keep cost compared to the new small tractors.
Young lads lived on top of these in tnt 60 ies 70ies we used to get reel n our heads turning hay then it would piss rain and rain until the hay almost went with the flood some farmer leader suggested that farmers should make silage as ireland weather was not suitable for hay making as guys were getting breakdowns in their heads from dumping black mildurd in to ditches the 35 x was a god send from the draft horse
Phil, that’s a Massey Ferguson 35 with differential lock... not a 35X which is, the dynamo bracket is the tell tale. The 35X dynamo bracket is similar to the 135, your 135 had an alternator so it might not have it’s original dynamo bracket? Enjoying the videos, great information and honest presentation of the facts. Keep up the good work. John
@@FARMERPHIL3690 thanks! I live in Greece and I use the tractor from -5 to 35 degrees Celsius ( winter - summer ). The transmission oil is really watered and it looks like milk. When the tractor is cold the lift works fine. But when the tractor gets warm after 1 hour of use the lift starts to weaken a lot. Should I use thicker oil such as 15w40 or should I use 10w30 even for the warmer Greek climate ???

THAT TRACTOR WILL OUT WORK THESE YOUNG KIDS, AND DOESN'T ASK FOR A PLAYSTATION
not all cowboys use 30mm bolts and two nuts in the toplink
Fun to see that old Streela 2 rotor :D Or what ever brand that is they are the same. We sold ours just last year
Lovely 35x I have one of the last ever built 135s before they went to the series 2. I'm going to be doing some work on her on my channel
i have one of the first built 135s serial number 200 and something off the line, just had a look multipower makes her a rare tractor
