I don't know what it costs for a ball now. But back in the 90ds it was 20 or 25 a night and if you stayed over a week it was 15 bucks a night. That was for a 42 foot boat 🚢. And of course the "Buffalo Milk" was only 5 bucks. Lol. And that little store had a little bit of every thing in it. Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻
Hello Bill! In the off season they have some deals like buy two days (or three, I forget) and get 4 or 5 days free. That’s the best deal but it’s only the off season and the deals seem to change so don’t take my word for it. A 30 foot mooring costs $46 per night these days if I remember correctly. Thanks for stopping by 🤙🏼
@@sailingsole WOW! Things have gone way up. We would go to Two Harbors in August. I worked at the fuel ⛽️ dock in San Diego. And I would take my vacation first week of August. We had a 42 foot aft cabin motor yawt back then. It would take us about 8 hours at 12 knots to get there from San Diego. Lots of fun.
Thanks Ken. Mucho appreciated!! I have the Axiom 7. Mark gave me a second Axiom 7 when he upgraded so I plan to install that inside at the nav desk. Cheers!
I had the same heading issue with my Axiom. Do you have a separate heading sensor? Also, I'm thinking you may be able to use GPS heading instead of magnetic heading.
How does the chart plotter heading line (not course over ground line) compare to your magnetic compass? That’s what will tell you if the remote sensor needs to be adjusted. The heading line should match your compass heading, the other line will be your gps-derived course over ground line, and if there’s a current they will be different.
Thanks. Mark from @keeldragger mentioned something similar. I haven’t been back out since then so I haven’t had a chance to compare but I will soon. I know that my tracking (fin keel) isn’t as good as a full or long keel so the current could definitely be playing a role.
@@sailingsole, current will affect COG regardless of the keel type since the entire water mass is moving and you’re moving with it; it’s easiest to visualize it by imagining sailing perpendicular to a river, you’re pointing straight across but you’re moving across the ground (river bottom) at a diagonal simply because of the movement of the water mass. What you’re talking about is similar to what they call skidding in aviation where your track has a drift component because the sail forces are pushing you sideways at a force too great for your keel to overcome.
I hauled out at Dana Point Shipyard. I forget the haul out fee (2020) something like $500 but I’m sure those prices have changed by now so call them and ask. 👍🏼
Another chill weekend at the island. 👍
Yep, that was a super chill sail there and a great sail back.
Brother, It's always good to see ya!
Right on! Thanks Walt.
Congrats on your B&S anchoring solo!

Always enjoy your videos. I just bought an Axiom 9 and wonder which Raymarine you have? Keep it up.

That’s a good point. I’ll look into that. Maybe that is it 👍🏼

Where did you do the haul out and how much they charge for the haul out ? Thanks

@@sailingsole thank you
