Another tip, if you have no shields and you know you are going to die, quickly pause the game and restart to last checkpoint and you will still get the achievement
If that works for both achievements then this is easy cake!! If the grenade jumps don't work, just revert and try. You can't fail in the long run! And taking your time to clear an area with this, wow... Then should be really easy!
Thanks to you I have the achievements now, and I still can't believe how informative you were the whole way through. I'll definitely be coming back if I ever need help with another achievement.
I did it!!! Thanks for this walkthrough!!! I played through as I watched this. I would watch a bit, then pause the walk-through long enough to catch up on my game. It took an hour and a half or two hours with all the pausing and reverting, but I got the achievement on the first try. I figured I would have to take a few days and practice, but nope 😁👍 I changed a few things to match my playing style. In the beginning after the first grenade jump, I used a plasma grenade on top of the pylon to grenade jump over to the right side roof, because I don't know how to crouch jump. I also skipped your second grenade jump and just walked around to the door to retrieve the monitor. I handled the small fight and basically ran for it. Again, thanks so much! That's 44/44 for me!
Followed your guide step for step (except for making every grenade jump through the doors early) and I got this achievement surprisingly easy! Thank you for such a detailed and easy to follow guide, you are a top uploaded!
I just answered my own question by successfully getting this achievement thanks to your walkthrough. All the grenade jumps and your tricks worked perfectly. I am so contented right now.
Cheers dude picked this up for a £5 today and died just before the end on legendary, still under 30. Redid with Heroic picking up all skulls and terminals and got the not dying one as well. Excellent commentary.
I'm usually pretty decent at grenade jumps but for the life of me I can't get that second one. I'm not even getting high enough for a crouch to matter.
@@jozf8163 This is true. I cannot complete the second jump without standing on top of a 2nd controller player. The point of this jump is to not trigger a boatload of enemy spawns. You can get around this by staying outside the doorway, spamming grenades to kill all the enemies already spawned, then walk through, sticking close to the area you would have walked had you dropped down. You may need to get Guilty Spark's attention to trigger the next portion. You might have to jump onto one of the slanted areas to do so, but DO NOT enter the floor area near the "vents" the flood come out of.
Old video but timeless content! I love your play style here, as basically match mine. You take your time to clean everything off, and then moving forward. Learning the spawn points and the position for enemies makes this way easier. Thank you very much, I'm closer to get these achievements!
Your grenade jump at the beginning definitely helped me get the speed reader solo :). I managed to get that just happened solo as well but a much more time consuming and difficult way lol. Either way, GREAT vid and thank you for that tip!
As in you can walk around and get underneath him rather than doing the 2nd grenade jump up the wall. If you do it right you only encounter the same enemies I do. Deviate from this at your peril.
great walk through. I watched the vid while I was playing through it and finished it at the exact same time. It really helped to here your tips on each corridor exactly as I would enter it.
I cannot like this video hard enough. I *dreaded* this achievement. Especially those moments where you get trapped between two doors. I completed Halo 1 on legendary without knowing any of these tricks you displayed. I did my time, now I just want the achievement. Thank you *so* much for this guide, I did it in one go. Awesome video quality, awesome commentary making things nice and clear.
Thanks man, just got this achievement thanks to you. I saw this video this morning and reluctantly attempted it tonight (reluctantly because I thought it'd be quite frustrating), but it was actually quite smooth.
This is my first time ever playing Halo, I see the Speed Reader achievement and I think "Oh crap". I started out The Library on Legendary because I knew I'd have to learn the tactics for it eventually. Using your guide I got Speed Reader first time round, on my first time ever playing the level. I did die quite a few times but since the time clocks back to the last checkpoint every time you die I still got it..along with the terminal and skull! You sir, are an absolute gent. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this, it took me a solid few dozen tries to get the first grenade jump to work but from there on your video got me there in one shot. I skipped the second grenade jump but the rest I followed exactly. I already had the no death achievement so I wasn't worried about that. 1000/1000, Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
Thank you so much for this vid. The grenade jump really was the hardest part. After that I followed what you did mostly and I only died twice at the end(already had the other achievement) Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the video! I have tried 'That Just Happened' several times and could not get it. This video came me the tips I needed to finally accomplish it. Thanks!
YEEEESSSSS DID IT!! THANKS BRO! had to do it twice because first time I died right near the end but just finished it for the first achievement of time limit jesus christ, its the way the achievement doesnt pop up till the end of the cut scene. thankyou you hero
@Edgehead178 Revert to last save dosen't work, but if you save and quit at every checkpoint, you should dashboard when you die. Then come back to the game. You will restart where you saved and quit. No deaths will be counted because the game sees it as you coming back from a game you interrupted; the part where you died was erased from your play history
@MasterRC I've actually found that the 2nd jump is unnecessary and you can simply walk through the door to the right. All you have to do to get the monitor to follow you is walk a step behind him and that'll trigger him to move. There are still no enemies until the next door opens. If you have the grenade jump mastered its a little faster, but it's a more favorable option to those who can't seem to do the 2nd jump. (Thanks for the guide, though, I finally did this on Legendary)
It's worth it to practice the grenade jumps. Surprisingly, I found that you have to be just almost on top of/just ahead of your grenade. I learned this because once I started getting the jump to work I ended up boosting myself *over* the obstacle on the first grenade jump. As for the second jump after you grenade up onto that obstacle, remember not to crouch until the last moment. That's what produces the up and down motion in the video (and incidentally makes it seem so smooth).
@HappyDude380 there is another way, using the 2 flood carriers at the place with the 2nd grenade jump, where you jump over them and into the wall, using them as grenades instead, and potentially saving a little bit of time
Thanks for posting! I died about 20 times trying to get the first grenade jump but after that it was not too difficult when using your other tips. You need to make sure all the flood infection forms are dead before you grenade jump or they'll kill you after the grenade jump takes down your shields (especially if you miss the jump and end up back on the ground). I found the jump across to the wall a little tricky as well. Overall I think getting the bandanna skull was harder than getting speed reader, but getting speed reader without the bandanna skull would have been even harder.
@MasterRC Cheers, look forward to it. And yeah, I definitely won't try and combine the two. 'exercise in frustration' i think is a slight understatement
When I first played this level that Flood soldier with the Rocket Launcher gave me a heart attack. Much more memorable without the skulls. It's such a bloody mosh pit level.
Crouch jump. Hold crouch just after you hit the apex of your jump to tuck your legs in. Play around with it. Jump take-off point is also different to other Halo games - so it's something you'll have to get used to.
@15:33, there's a wall on your right. I was playing on Legendary today, and I think it was this location where I backed in to the wall. Lo and behold, I clipped through the wall. There's about a 10 meter space there, where you can move behind the wall, and it lets you view the entire map. (And boy, is it big.) Also, at least when I did it, there was a dead combat form in reach, with a rocket launcher.
Awesome guide, I needed both of these achievements. Thanks for the guide, seems like if you get through the first guide and run and gun on the later parts helped out. I died once when I got the Seed Reader Achievement, but went back Heroic and got the other one. Thanks again for giving an average Halo player a fighting and "winning" chance
Thank you MasterRC t his video was a lot of help to me and if people are having trouble with this mission just save to every check point that you get before you go into a big fight and also if you die just go to xbox dash board and play the game again and resume campaign you will start at the checkpoint u saved it on
got to 11:45. heard you say there's a health pack so i tracked back through the door. Even though i had probably full health, like a kid to an ice cream truck, must have walked straight onto a carrier in the process of exploding. Boom. my dreams shattered. i'm going to go and cry in the shower.
@Fluffypopcicle i think you're thinking of He's Unstoppable and thats beat any level on Heroic or higher without taking damage, there is no achievement to beat any level without dying
Just did the run and got both achievements thanks a ton man ! btw saving and quiting after checkpoints does work If you die go to the dashboard and reload your save
I've been having the same problem. I can grenade jump onto the first block, but trying to jump onto the door frame right after (1:10) is for me, impossible! I didn't want to use another grenade jump due to the health damage, but I didn't have a choice. So I grenade jumped using a plasma for that, and ran through without doing the grenade jump at 1:20. Great video MasterRC!
If anyone is having trouble, just save and quit at each checkpoint you haven't died at and if you do just go the dashboard. You can then reload the last checkpoint and it counts as you not dying and every time you save and quit the timer will reset it worked for me! :)
@MasterRC Thanks, I'll keep trying. This is my first experience with any Halo game, so the mechanics are still a bit new to me. If you don't mind me asking, do you crouch in mid-air, after leaping, or near the end? Or does it even matter?
They don't often fall in, but they usually do have to go around. Nothing rockets can do that grenades can't. I prefered to have the range of the pistol, and of course you want the Shotty.
already got this reverting to last save before u die works but if u die it still counts no matter if u revert so the best choice is to revert when you think your about to die
@TheFrenchfryjord Yes, I think the game timer will still carry on even when pausing, because when I was trying to achieve the Breaking Quarantine achievement (escape the Forerunner facility in less then 21 minutes) I had to use a walkthrough on youtube to guide me on where to go and kept pausing and the gametime was I'd say about 10 minutes but altogether it was like 40 mins.
@MasterRC I figured it out; this is what I i did; I walked up to the monitor to make him move head back into the first area cleared the flood, do the first grenade jump; then head into the right and spam grenades at the four where you suppose to head into the walkway and make the monitor move again to the first door. I was able to get speed reader but still working on that just happened.
@KizaHayes From the second you see the cutscene at the beginning the timer starts, press Y to skip ... I run a stopwatch gadget on my laptop as im playing and it's taking me far far too long because I keep being overwhelmed by the flood and then get killed :(
me about 5-6 attempts but i finally got the both in 1 run. first attempt got to rocket flood and he blew me up, 2nd attempt got to last door and tried to nade jump and got killed. 3rd-5th got to 2nd floor and died. 6th success. Thanks a lot man great run
Didn't mean dying just when you reach a checkpoint would you spawn on him, but yeah I was wondering if we would be at the 1st floor still or not. Thanks for the reply and the great video!
unbelievable - cheers for that Didn't quite manage 'That Just Happened' this time round, but nothing that a bit of practice can't sort out maybe! any help/advice with 'look out for the little guys'? that looks awkward...
I GOT IT, I GOT IT, I GOT IT. .. I finally got the damned thing today. The last achievement I needed. I didn't think I had made in time but it popped up. Thanks for the vid. Cheers.
@MasterRC Well, after I did it on Legendary, I went back and did it to get the heroic achievement but couldn't do the 2nd grenade jump again. Maybe it had to do with the difficulty, but then again the difficulty shouldn't interfere with the basic spawn points for enemies...I really don't know.
"Keep throwing grenades until things stop moving." - Amazing advice for every FPS ever.
Another tip, if you have no shields and you know you are going to die, quickly pause the game and restart to last checkpoint and you will still get the achievement
You just saved me a lott of headache. I know this comment is old af, but thanks m8~
For both achievements?
@@earthquakewilliam7380 If the timer resets and you do it before you die, I believe the most logical question is quite yes, but can't confirm it tho

I watched this and thought yeah I can definitely do this, 100%. Then I died like 23409823049723097 times.
Is not that hard to do it

Got this on my first attempt thanks to this, you're so clear about how to beat this its amazing. A true hero of youtube.
I just got it. I can confirm that deaths do not add time. Checkpoints reset you time back. My overall time was 37 minutes on my stopwatch.
"anticipate them with grenades"
lol i love your vocabulary
Followed your guide step for step (except for making every grenade jump through the doors early) and I got this achievement surprisingly easy! Thank you for such a detailed and easy to follow guide, you are a top uploaded!
I just answered my own question by successfully getting this achievement thanks to your walkthrough. All the grenade jumps and your tricks worked perfectly. I am so contented right now.
@MasterRC "Just run around."
What kind of advice is this? Sheesh.
having a partner is really helpful cuz you can just jump on their head instead of doing a gernade jump
You can skip the second jump - just walk through the doorway
Walking through the doorway defeats the purpose of doing the jumps. You trigger the fight you were trying to avoid.
@@jozf8163 This is true. I cannot complete the second jump without standing on top of a 2nd controller player. The point of this jump is to not trigger a boatload of enemy spawns. Guilty Spark never follows me after the 1st grenade jump.
Thanks, because of this guide I now have every achievement in this game.
Thanks dude. This makes things a lot easier. Gonna get all achievements, before Halo 4 comes out. You are the best!

Nice guide! Thanks for making it. Helped me and my friend getting the achievement.
Thank you so much!!! Followed it by the letter and got the achievement at the end! Amazing guide, thank you!
Just got both achievements tonight. Thanks again RC Master!
@RC Master how do make the second jump?
i wasnt looking forward to this but this guide helped so much

got speed runner first try, then changed to heroic and got that just happened first try. fuck yea
And then you survived the ring explosion.
Amazing Run, thanks. I was getting hung up on the second 'Nade jump. Still kinda stuck there but cool to see a master at work
Thank you so much, those 'nade jumps really helped.
Sometimes what shows up in the 'related' tab is actually just 'recommended' based on your view history.
Crouch jump. Hold crouch just after you hit the apex of your jump to tuck your legs in. Play around with it.
Jump take-off point is also different to other Halo games - so it's something you'll have to get used to.

You can skip the cut scenes by pressing Y, idk why it's still not A
It's possible to use a Plasma grenade to jump that small gap. the plasma grenade wont bounce and can be placed right on the edge.
I used a plasma grenade to jump to the other side. You have to be careful however because the timing is different when you use a plasma grenade
Just got this, last achievement I needed. I love you.
got to 11:45. heard you say there's a health pack so i tracked back through the door.

Last cheevo in the game for me...I'll have to follow this coz I was taking way to much time clearing areas and never nade jumping...nice one!
