@Dinopirate The warthog concept within the Halo universe is awesome, The warthog's physics within the game are just plain sad. If the warthog truly had the tires it depicts then it would never act like it is constantly driving on ice.
You can cut out 9 seconds of your time at 0:32 go up the ramp and make the jump. 9/10 you'll make the jump. I ended at like 1 min 19 seconds on the clock only taking the first shortcut tunnel.

I did lots of ramps and didnt flip on my first run of anniversary on legendary. Got this side up, but I was at 58.3 secnds when the mission ended. so close. Odd that I never knew about the shortcuts. Also how does the warthog drive badly. it's one of the most memorable vehicles in gaming history. gears of war has sucky driving mechanics. Also I dont find camera angle(up or down) affects how the warthog lands. you obviously use the camera to steer so what I found keeps me from flipping is get centered on the path as soon as possibly after the last column before the jump, aim my camera dead centre at the door, and DONT TOUCH the camera stick. Whenever you turn the warthog bobs side to side a bit, and if its doing that when you jump you can roll. I find if I can get the angle straight early and have a good 3-5 seconds of driving straight to work out the instability, I land perfectly upright.

I scored the "Don't Tell Me The Odds" achievement [without the shortcuts as I was not aware of them until now] but not the "This Side Up" achievement - despite not flipping. I have since completed it AGAIN [on Normal] but it STILL didn't give me the achievement. Is anyone else having this problem/know why this is happening?
damnit, beat it with 1:04 and got the one achievement, but it didn't give me "this side up". I didn't even manually eject from the car, I must have got off too early at the end or something.
i did this without taking any short cuts, took all the jumps and worked through the middle at the very end ( were all the enemies are) and i did it without flipping and with 1 min 14 secs to spare
Please mean can you do a tutorial how to make those achievements :that just happened and speed reader?and can i use the bandanna and boom skuls? Becouse without those skuls is impossible becouse you die too fast

This is the WORST level in the whole game. Bungie programmers must have been on CRACK when they coded this. You say right in the video that the warthog is the worst vehicle to drive (no arguments there at all) but you provide no tips at all on how to drive it. I really hate these videos where the walkthrough makes it look so easy because the player has already figured out the tricks for decent driving, but then doesn't even bother to pass that info along in the video. Gee, thanks.

Oddly enough the Design Length of the Pillar of Autumn is 1,171 meters. Equivalent to 1.1kms long. Yet the Evac point is more than 2 kms away.

Just Don't Tell me The Odds. This Side Up can be done on any difficulty.
just a little tip: if you're still struggling for time, the jumps in the first room are really easy, which saves time

took about 10 tries for just dont tell me the odds. Got it with about 1.3 seconds to spare. Thanx for the vid, it was a huge help.
After several failed attempts, I got this achievement with 0.93 seconds left! My heart was pumping so fast...

Yeah. You really do need those extra 20 seconds. If you didn't notice I finished it with a spare 10 seconds. Go back for the skull later.
I think it's because of the steep inclines and bends. That is, you aren't travelling in a complete straight line during the run.
Just saying.during that big gap which make your warthog flip,you can also do it by pressing on your brakes once you jump.
@Squishy1017 Yes. I flipped several times and reverted each time. Still got the achievement.

Driving the warthog is comparable to driving on the Sherbert Land map in Mario Kart Double Dash.
Way better than the other dude's video where the shortcut comes up and his controller dies and you don't get to see anything for about 10 seconds.

Only reason this is a challenge is due to the inability of the warthog to go in the direction you want it to.

What skulls to activate during this mission? Boom skull? Or just the bandana skull.

Just got both achievements... I knew I could get them easily, I just needed to build up the confidence to do them solo... haha
