Awesome job and great skills. I'd be interested in a cost breakdown (guarded secret??? lol)
In your opinion, how long would you say for the non garage based mechanic to do it on his drive and garage - Depending on work and finance, I'd suggest 12 months working most weekends.

nice job I wonder why you didn't paint the chassis inside and out as they do corrode quickly with salt on the roads I know I have a rusting galv chassis Galve won't last for ever Look at series capping's and windscreen surrounds Phil

Good Job! I have a 2004 Defender Crew Cab and I got tired of its interior. Is it possible to change it with the new dash and seats? Will the new style dash fit?

I have the opportunity to buy a 1986 Defender from Africa from some missionary friends. I'm scared because I don't want to get in over my head. Any suggestions?

Old defenders are some of the easier vehicles to work on, they really do last forever, an engine with 200,000 miles is only half way through its life and body panels just bolt on. As they say "Land Rover, proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948". My advice is buy it and enjoy it.

You should be scared. These things are rust buckets and money pits. All of the parts are super expensive. These things are garbage. Nice restoration though!

Looks like $30-50,000 worth of work to salvage a rusted out carcass. If it's your passion in life go for it.
