    Nice work. I to like feeding the paver with a skid steer on short pulls. I think the mat comes out better but we usually just dump the asphalt on the ground when possible.

      Do you dump it on the ground, then scoop it up with a skid steer to load the paver?

      I appreciate it man. My opinion on the p65. It’s a great little machine if your doing small work between 500-1500 Sq Ft. The bigger the project the less capable the paver is. When you open up full to 13 feet it has a hard time keeping up. The amount of asphalt in front of the screen compared to the extensions is significantly different which is annoying.
      I also found the motor under powered on mine. When you run the electric screed and try to open the extensions at the same time, it struggles to maintain power. It’s a nice little machine, but over all I’m not exactly impressed by it. ( Food for thought) feel free to DM me on IG for more information if your having issues with it.

    So if your going to spend the money move up to to the 385 so u can do big jobs that paver great for small stuff. You need to be able to push the trucks. You probably watch other people stuff. Do u see that pave a lot

      I appreciate your input man! We actually just ordered a new paver for next year, it’s something pretty special and I’m really happy to be able to show you guys next spring so you’ll have to keep tune to see what it is. I personally find it the perfect size for what we do, and I feel in 2 to 3 years. We will be getting something similar to a 385 in size. It’s definitely bigger than the P 65, but not as big as a Weiler 385. I do see your point though.
      Thanks for watching!

    Conveyer fed is faster. Push the truck, take the skid steer hand and put him to use on the dance floor

    • @capitalasphalt
      @capitalasphalt  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you. The P65 isn’t capable of pushing the dump trucks due to the lack of power it has among other things. Pushing trucks is definitely the faster and more efficient way to pave.

    Back the truck up and dump it in the hopper of the paver saves several trips with the loader and burning fuel for nothing.

      I find it easier when paving driveways with lil paver to just use a skid steer. Lot of companies do the same aswell. Bigger pavers yeah load straight from the truck but little paver on smaller jobs it saves lots of stress to just use skid steer rather than having a truck pull in and out of the way non stop.

    • @capitalasphalt
      @capitalasphalt  ปีที่แล้ว

      We get asked this all the time. The simple reason is that the majority of our projects do not require the dump truck being back up to the paver. For reasons such as, the driveway being too small (although not in this case), wires overhead, steep hills & turns etc.
      We normally use a skid steer to excavate, grade and make pads for the paver. We often find it’s just as simple to use the same skid steer to load the paver. Why? It’s easy to control, you do not have worry about having enough room for the large dump trucks out on the street, we use it to make the pads and clean up the road anyway. In a word, it’s often convenient.
      All that being said, it would have worked great to push the trucks on this project and if I did it over, I would have if I’m being honest.
      The last thing to note: Our dump trucks all pull tag trailers daily and the way the hitch is set up they do not line up properly with our paver. The way to correct this is 1 of 3 things. 1. Lower the rollers on the paver. 2. Remove the hitch on the truck. 3. Remove the thick hard rubber/plastic compound mat that helps hold the asphalt in the paver hopper.. this way the hitch will fit.
      Any one or all three of these options come at a price or inconvenience.
      We have a very special paver on order for next year and the intention with this paver is to be able to push trucks with out having to do any additional set up work.
      Hope this answers your question, thanks for watching. I hope you continue to watch and enjoy the channel.

    Nice machine. We have the 265. 2 years and 1300 hr and 35000 tons and going strong. I was curious about the 65. Grew up running pucketts. Can't imagine going back to gravity feed but still enjoy the machines.

    • @capitalasphalt

      I don’t wanna say too much now. I have a paver in order for the spring. It’s a Mauldin 1560. However I may be checking out a p265 in the future depending on a few circumstances.
      Answering your question on the p65. Our first paver was in fact a Puckett 580 we still have it and use it from time to time. Extremely reliable little paver that has never caused us any major issues. The p65 is a modern version of a Puckett 580. The biggest difference being a heated screed. Gravity feed isn’t something I enjoy much anymore. They are simple to use but limited in their capabilities as you know.
      The p65 is a decent paver over all but certainly has its issues. Main one being under powered in my opinion. Second issue is the augers are located in the extensions. This means there are no augers in front of the main screed. Which means when you open the paver up to a full 13 feet. At the end of your driveway, there tends to be a large pile of the asphalt in the middle of the paper, and the perfect amount in the extensions. This is not a huge issue but personally, I find it quite annoying.
      All and all I honestly wouldn’t recommend a P 65 paver too many paving companies. UNLESS they only do small residential driveways between 500 and 1500 ft.² and of course it is a budget friendly pavers compared to a P265 or other pavers in that size range. It’s a excellent paver to learn on, but that’s about it.
