- This video is about the life of Connor Dotson, a 15 year old boy living with a very rare condition known as Nicoladies-Baraitser Syndrome. Narrated by his mother, this video is meant to share Connor's story and his beauty.
I have a syndrome and I am the only one in the world who has it. My parents fostered whatever specialness I had which was a lot. I ended up becoming a nurse and going to medical school being a published author became a social worker with a master's degree and got my PhD in nutrition science. I'm 54 years old now and things are getting worse as they have the last 30 years so I'm in a wheelchair now and in constant horrible pain. But I am here and I have given my life both in my vocation and evocation to caring for others. Now I have two caregivers 6 days a week and cannot dress or undress myself. But I am still here I have done something for the world and I am happy.

Yes, as others have said, I sure do appreciate you sharing!! It is so refreshing to see good, positive, loving stories. Also, of course Connor is the star, but mom....you are quite the lady. I'm going to assume you are humble and quite modest and wouldn't want people gushing over you, however, that being said, not every mom could do this with the grace you have. In some sort of 'collective soul' I just know your heart and love ya as a sister in the way GOD intended. ;) ♡

I help a single mother care for her six year old little girl, Lucy, who was also born with NCBRS. I had no idea that this disorder existed and when I first met them I felt extremely clueless and was at a lost as to how I could ever be of any help to either of them. Part of me wanted to just keep my distance, fearing that I would do something wrong or flat-out never understand this disability or the many different challenges that come along with it.
That was around a year and a half ago. Today, I couldn’t imagine life without Lucy. Other than my own children , I have never felt such a close bond and unconditional love for a child like I do for Lucy. Every day that I am fortunate enough to have an opportunity to spend time with this amazing little girl is a gift. There are plenty of struggles, sure, and I do get frustrated at times, wishing that certain things could change, but I also thank God for placing this amazing little miracle and her beautiful family in my life. She has such an almost otherworldly warmth and an undeniable aura of complete and utter innocence and truth about her that it really is awe-inspiring along with almost impossible to describe to anyone who has never had the pleasure of meeting someone like Lucy or Conner. I may not be thankful about her being born with this condition but I am eternally grateful for being able to play a part in Lucy,s life. It is an honor and a privilege.
Mothers of disabled say that they feel a special connection with the the disabled child. Its like we feel compelled to love and help the ones that need us most❤
This is what every parent hopes for... a child just like Connor. A dream come true. You are so blessed.

Happy NCBRS day! Your video was the first video I saw after I received my son’s diagnosis for Nicolaides Baraitsers in 2016. Your video has helped me so much in these past few years. I feel exactly the same way you do about Connor. My son Iman is now 6 and I agree the syndrome might as well be called the beautiful syndrome.

I know plenty of people who believe in God but they don't constantly exploit every opportunity to drag it into every conversation - I'm cool with whatever someone wants to believe (as delusional or self-limiting it may be), as long as they aren't hurting anyone or encouraging other shitty behavior.
But oh, you made an excellent point - if these people were some kind of Wiccans or other "dark faithers", you KNOW they'd be calling that Connor kid a goblin or spawn of Satan with that creepy smile (not to be cruel, but come on, it's a little chilling). I really wish they would update these videos. I was so touched by Connor and his mom and I’m sitting here feeling so full and happy for them and thanking God for my own children (my youngest son is disabled) as well. To be able to hear or see an update would be really perfect. For me I’m watching this beautiful, feel good, heart touching story and I sit and wonder where are they now? Is he ok? Is his mom? What lessons and messages can they share with us now all these years later? Sending prayers to Connor and his family ❤️❤️❤️
