You know they didn't write this right? It's an old folk song and this is like the 10th metal version that's been done of it. Not saying it's a bad cover, just that it's not very original
I think that the song got more heavier but more calm, its the speed perhaps. It feels kinda too calm in my opinion. But the lyrics changes are good indeed
I AM A PROUD NICKELBACK SUPER FAN, AND I AM NOT ASHAMED! They’re first two albums slap, they’re most recent album fucking SLAPS, and this cover is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’ve always been a Nickelback fan, it was my childhood. Hearing rockstars or bullet just brings back so many memories from fishing in the sea, screaming Fish on, the fight to get that fish to the surface. Nickelback will always be one of those bands I will love for the memories it gives me
Nickelback's heavier stuff is pretty dope, they're just known for the gei pop songs that made the charts. Their most recent album (Feed the Machine, 2017) is one of my favourite albums, and the title track, plus "Coin for the Ferryman" and "Must Be Nice" are proper good tracks. It doesn't surprise me that they covered this actually, cos the bassist said he wanted to go in a more heavy metal direction, or wanting to do an album of Slayer covers.
If Nickelback sounded like this, I’d actually listen to them. This was pretty good. Edit: Ive actually started to like them. They actually are kinda good unlike what most people think. They actually slap.
@@Eddie2P cod is just an arcade shooter which is fine if you're having fun but the problem is that fans actually think they're good at FPS when the game has aim assist and purposely inflates your stats so players think they're doing well.
Honestly, this cover was pretty sweet! To be fair, their cover of We Will Rock You was quite spot on, but this cover with the lyric changes makes it a whole lot more cooler than the original! I don't know what else to say, so to anyone reading this, have a good day!
I dunno, it makes sense since the Devil and Johnny are having a contest to see whose best at guitar/fiddle and not singing, the chorus is a bit unnecessary. Also I have no idea how they could alter the more country sounding lyrics like the "chicken in a bread pan" part to fit the more rock centered theme of their cover.
I have a higher opinion of Nickelback than most, but this still caught me a bit by surprise. I didn't even know that they'd done a cover of this until guitarheroROXS AKA aWiseMoose accidentally trolled us by doing this on RB4 but failing initially to clarify that it was the Nickelback version or that it was on RB4.
Didn't know what to expect when I went into this video. So I said "Alright. let's see what they did here." Because I am kind of a Nickelback fan. I'm now considering getting an album or two after hearing this. This cover, though it was short, was not bad. It was actually pretty good.
As much as I love listening to people playing fast, and I loved the contrast between the devils solo and johnny’s solo, I think the lead guitar players tactic of fiery fingers right out the gate of the song, starting with the tapping, actually hindered the other solos in the song. The tapping and sweep picking was cool and sounded good, but I wanted to hear some kind of interest curve for those solos. Steve omiette does an amazing devil solo in the original cover, and the space he leaves at the start really makes the faster stuff more incredible I think. Also did anyone else feel like there might have been a few “odd” notes in johnnys solo or was it just me. I’d have loved to have heard what this guitar player could have done if he slowed down a little bit and built up to the face melting bits.
Everybody gangsta until Nickelback covers a song in metal. This ain't even the first time they sounded like this. What peaked my interest is them jamming Sad But True live that one time.
There are quite a few covers of Devil Went Down to Georgia that replace the fiddle with a guitar. I remember hearing a custom song in the GH2 days that did the same.
I have loved nickelback since silver side up. Stopped buying after dark horse came out but purchased feed the machine ...never really understood why people hate em but thats fine. I like em
It's pretty decent, I personally would have like some more singing like in the original but all in all I must nickleback gets a solid 7/10 with this cover
I’ve thought about making an animation of the devil went down to Georgia the gh3 cover, but it always bothered me they didn’t change fiddle to guitar. I can’t fucking believe nickel back did it.
I may not like Nickelback as much as I used to... they used to be one of my favorite bands up to their Here and Now album, and I even went with my dad to a couple of their concerts and we’d just have an amazing time singing along to their songs and giving each other high fives after our favorite songs. I’ll always love and respect them for those memories, no matter if the whole world but me and my father dislike them or not. They’re the only band that ever gave me and my father those memories.
i like this! although for some reason the vibe of this song feels like cigarette smoke to me??? like, i can smell cigarette smoke if i listen to it lol
It was "okay", but not AMAZINGLY okay. The lyrics change was a nice touch, but it felt like it lacked something (apart from the chorus). Could have extended Johnny's part a bit more without having to go into silly territory like the GH version (not saying that the GH version is bad). Overall, an "okay" considering it's a Nickelback cover.
Johnny's part, from a guitarist's perspective, was pure bragging. Very, very technical but really just to prove superiority. The devil's solo sounded like Pantera. There is a world beyond GH. Just sayin'.
Nickelback was always alot better than people let on.. And the reason is alot of people only know their softer songs from the radio.. Just like this song, you'll likely not hear on the radio..
This biggest reason that no one knows about these type of songs by Nickelback is because none of it makes it to the "mainstream" radio charts. They have half and half albums. stuff like "photograph" makes up a chunk of it. But then there is also typically another half of the album that never gets any playtime from anyone. So no one who would like the "heavier" side of nickelback ever even thinks to look for it.
Nickelback its so good, i cant believe how people hate them just because they listened in 2000 - 2010, the album feed the machine its so good, u guys should listen that
I heard they never intended to release it, they only decided to since Charlie Daniels passed. I feel like that's why it was a tad shorter than the original.
There should be the chorus lyrics and either the devil's bit or Johnny's bit should have been longer. The original had Johnny's bit be like 4 measures and the devil just admits defeat and that was pretty funny though the guitar hero version does the exact opposite with Johnny just going off super hard and playing for like 3 mins straight which also worked. I felt they should've done one of those two things instead of doing like a middle ground
This actually sounds really good
Sounds even better if you have hair
thomas mead stop... he’s already dead 😭

I've never been a big fan of Nickelback but I gotta admit this does kinda slap tho
Agreed
well... it doesnt sound like nickelback so...
You know they didn't write this right? It's an old folk song and this is like the 10th metal version that's been done of it. Not saying it's a bad cover, just that it's not very original
They out sourced the guitarist which kinda makes it Bleh.
2:15. Bruh he is not even strumming!
I don’t know what’s weirder, the fact that Nickelback covered this song or that fact that it’s actually really good
I mean Kanye West covered bohemian Rhapsody, so, its weirder that its good.
Why is it weird they covered this song? Everyone knows this song
I think that the song got more heavier but more calm, its the speed perhaps. It feels kinda too calm in my opinion. But the lyrics changes are good indeed
I thought it was a meme. I can't believe this is actually real lmao
Me too this shit got me vibin lowkey
Nickleback, you get a clap.
A CLAP.

could've been worse, could've got *the* clap

Me: reads title
My brain: great another Nickelback song
Me in chorus: hey.... Dis pretty good
Ocelot: "Pretty... good?"
Look at this photograph!
Every time Satan sees it, it makes him laugh.

disappointed they didn’t do the “johnny rosin up your bow” part (or an altered lyric version) or the “fire on the mountain run boys run”

I like a few nickelback songs.
This is incredible.
I'm glad I clicked on this video. It led me down the path to connecting my favorite guitar to my PC. Didn't know that Wii adapter existed.
The devil said "Look at this photograph" to little Johnny
Its a tad bit too far structurally different for me but im impressed that they would attempt something like this.
Totally the best version yet!!!
"Holy fuck, Johnny is really good!". Indeed. lmao 😂
Honestly didn’t have to slap that hard
I must admit I actually really like this. Especially since I like The Devil Went Down To Georgia
I honestly really enjoy this and I was just in shock the whole time.

cant say I'm much of a Nickelback fan myself
but I have to agree that's one of the best Nickelback songs I have heard.
i agree with your opinion. steve's version has shown us the "Johnny vs the Devil" battle, so...
Nickelback can sound good when the singer is'int using that usual growly voice everyone hates.
I may not like Nickelback as much as I used to... they used to be one of my favorite bands up to their Here and Now album, and I even went with my dad to a couple of their concerts and we’d just have an amazing time singing along to their songs and giving each other high fives after our favorite songs.
