Thank you for this review, we never played Ra and pretty much got it based on this.
First time we played it we ended up playing it 4 times in a row so I guess we liked it a lot😆.
Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on the deluxe version since it was sold out in Europe, but after playing the standard version I honestly don't feel the need for it, the standard edition feels and looks amazing at less than half the price.
Those wooden tiles sure look nice though.

You are very welcome! Glad to hear the standard edition looks good too. ~Tim

Of course, anytime. Great job on the new version. I love seeing it reinvigorate the well-deserved love for the game. -Dan

Great stuff. Do you have any feel for the quality of the wooden tiles? With all the shuffling of the tiles in the bag, would the paint maybe start flaking off? I'm sorely tempted to get the deluxe version (I've seen it up for preorder in my LGS), but that would be my only concern.

It’s a valid concern, but so far I’ve seen no issues. ~Tim

Have you guys played Ra at 5 players (my main group size)? Thoughts? I've heard it can be too chaotic

I THINK I've only played up to 4, but I find the chaos in this game pretty well balanced out. People on BGG do say it plays best 3-4 though. I guess each of your bids becomes more important at the higher player count as there's a lot of turns before you go again. So win what you need and ditch what you greed :P -Dan

I’ve played the old version at 5. It’s definitely a different dynamic, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. ~Tim
