    My wife has a 2008 Honda Element. I haven't had to replace the alternator in it yet, but have replaced a few over the years. Remember when they were on the top of the engine, and all you had to do was take off the belt, remove 2 bolts and you were done. How times have changed. Great video. I'm sure it will help many people.

      Hondas are good cars. I have an 06 element that I will be getting rid of soon. Subaru seems to be one of the few makes that still has their alternator on top.

    The Alternator replacement on this 2006 element was simple and straight to the point, without removing unnecessary parts just to get at the alternator, like fans and core supports etc... as seen on the other TH-cam for the same vehicle, this is the best DIY video to replace element's alternator, hands down! 💯😎✌️

    Thank you so much for this video. I just changed the alternator in my 2003 Honda Element using just this video to guide me. Saved me a good couple hundred dollars. My car didn’t start immediately after changing the alternator. My battery was completely dead (its only 2.5 months old) jumping it with another car didn’t help so I took the battery to AutoZone. They completely charged it up to 100% for free. It took about an hour. Just a heads up in case anyone else is changing theirs.

    This was a great tutorial. Reality played out a little more complicated for me, but this was my 1st time, and it only took me about 1.25 hrs (by myself). The information was well described, and the views were as good as could be expected.
    Thanks for the great tutorial!

    Great video. This helped me a lot. Still took me 3 hours though. Like everyone says, those 2 lower bolts on the alternator were very difficult, but doable. As an aside I decided to put on a more powerful than stock alternator. The stock one is 105 amps, which is underpowered. The battery is underpowered too for that matter. When my car battery died one day I tried to jump it off with my Element and it was a no-go. However my Honda van jumped it off with no problem at all. I purchased a 200 amp alternator from ebay,which is what I replaced the stock 105 amp with. It came from bnrparts and worked perfectly. I was a little concerned at first because the pully was a little smaller than stock but that didn't seem to matter. The tensioner picked up the extra slack and the belt was plenty tight. So far so good, although I only finished this a few hours ago. I started it up and the battery light in the dash went out, and I drove it a quarter mile to the mailbox and back.

    Great video , Saved me a lot of work However there is one item that should have been addressed as Preventative Maintenance since the Power Steering pump was off . Next to the pump is a oil transfer port under a cover that is held on with 2 bolts. There is a screen under the cover that should have been cleaned or replaced at the time of the pumps removal FYI. Found this out when my engine shutdown at Highway speed, would idle fine but no RPM above 3000, once screen was replaced Element was normal again.

    • @fortressofgraves
      @fortressofgraves 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I removed my coolant overflow reservoir (one nut holds it on and the connecting tube) and the cooling fan (2 nuts hold it on) both are easy to remove and easy to reinstall plus it makes removing the bottom bolts of the alternator possible. Had to kinda force the socket onto that on with the air conditioning line but it fits, just VERY tightly.
