Why We Won't Use Head Gasket Sealer in a Can | Jeep 3.6 Head Gasket Replacement

  • The can says "Permanent Repair Guaranty"? REALLY?? One of our customers brought in his 2017 Jeep Wrangler with an overheating issue. He tried a "fix in a can" with disastrous results; still overheating and water seeping in the cylinders. Brandon tears down this 3.6 motor and shows you what this product does and explains why the fix in a can is not worth it!

    Dorman makes a great all aluminum oil filter housing to replace that plastic turd they used. Fun fact.... Chrysler used to warranty these coolers until 2013. After that, they renamed the part a "housing", which isn't covered under warranty by either them, or aftermarket warranty companies.

    The more I hear about the 3.6s, I'm glad I have the older JK with the 3.8 other mini van engine, not a power house, but no major problems, then again it's Chrysler so some curve balls will probably be thrown at me in the future.😁

    Had to use head gasket sealer in my 2013 jk to get home on a long trip. Took the heads off when I got home. All the little round cooling ports in bank one heads were plugged. Sealed everything but the head gasket. Had to do a thorough flush several times before I put new heads on. DONT use that snake oil it will cause more damage. My lesson learned

    LOL, It's not the reason why many people use a pressure relief cap with a manual lever. Been using them for years on hotrod's and OEM vehicles. It makes relieving coolant pressure easier if there was a overheat issue easier to relieve the coolant system pressure than letting it cool down manually boiling in the system and potentially cause other issues such as a blown gasket.
    It is still a rated cap for what your cooling system calls for such as a 15lb cap. And will manually relieve that pressure when the pressure is over the rated PSI, same as a standard radiator cap.
    It makes releasing the pressure quicker and safer.

    I'm guessing you're not fans of putting a handful of dry rice in the radiator to fix leaks then. 🤣

      I don't know about rice, but an egg has been proven to be an effective emergency repair for small leaks.

    That Samcrac guy should watch this vid. That guy always uses those type of “solutions” on commonly known engines that fail. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    No idea why people try to short cut the inevitable.

    • @esiebert7625
      @esiebert7625 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because if they work for a short time and you can delay replacing a major component like an engine or transmission there is no downside. Samcrac does just fine with his cheap investments that he probably ends up flipping anyway.

    Look, you can do constant full repairs on ancient vehicles OR try a short term solution to give you some room to save and shop for a new vehicle.
    Constant expenses that may not be worth it or a cheap fix-for-now, your choice.
