The price of this OtO Sprinkler has DROPPED significantly since this video. I also have a discount code for $50 off a new unit if you’re interested! Code: LAWNMENTOR
I'm a huge automation and water geek. Have always loved automated sprinkler systems. I live in a townhouse and we don't have sprinkler systems here. I've got a couple rotor heads on spikes connected to an Orbit bhyve timer. That's been kinda fun, but oto looks amazing! Struggling with the price, even with the current preorder sale going on... But man, it is tempting. Thank you for the info you've provided so far. Definitely has me intrigued.
I just bought a 2-pack of Otos on their spring sale and feel much better about the investment thanks to your videos. I watched the installation and then this follow-up one. Well done and thanks.
@The Lawn Mentor Not on my first order, but I did on the second order. Thank you!! I’ve got three coming my way, two for the back yard and one for the front. You mentioned something about Reno. I’m in Reno, too - happy to send some pics/vids for you. I’m simultaneously doing more GroTrax this summer to finish off my entire back yard. It’s been years in the making but completion is finally in sight.
@The Lawn Mentor Thanks but when you bundle they actually give you $50 discount so it would cancel each other out. I’m at least happy I’ll get the second 😊 I’ll pass your videos along to others.
Is the stress in front of the house lined up with the windows? Your windows could be reflecting light in those areas and cooking it. Just may need more water there because of it, they have shade type things for it
Have you purchased any more OTOs for your backyard? I am curious about if you can put in a space that has shade with indirect sunlight? I would like to put it next to my flowerbed along a fence line that is north facing. It is super bright all around it, but the fence shades that area all day. Do you think the indirect sunlight would be enough? Any thoughts on this? Thank you for this tutorial
I have two OtOs and one of them is on the north side of my house right up against my porch - takes care of my flower beds. It gets some direct sunlight in the afternoon, though little, and it does just fine. If you don’t have direct sunlight for 3 hours minimum (that’s what they recommend) it comes with a 50 foot power cord you can run straight to the unit!
Thanks! I have been researching them this week and just ordered them. Unfortunately I wasn't able to use your link because they already had a sale going on, but I called to ask and they said, "Is the link from Lawn Mentor?" They knew who you were! I let them know your tutorial was helpful in our decision making. Thanks!
@@bekahd919 I have a very wonderful relationship with the folks behind that company. Thanks so much for trying to use my discount. I’ll have to figure out what sale it doesn’t work with! Thank you for sharing such great feedback with them. 😀
So I just checked and for yours and mines future reference….the discount code doesn’t stack with the sale that’s happening now but it does help me with a referral bonus 😀
Hey man I bought an OtO and have been using it for a couple weeks now. But I have a couple questions. What is the solution only option under weekly watering limits ? What will this do? Also is there any way to water a zone with less than 1/8in? I find that is actually quite a bit of water after actually watching it do my whole lawn. Wouldn’t mind an option of 1/16in if possible?
Solution only will only spray the liquid you have loaded in that slot - not extra water. You can use the demo mode to water less if you need to, but that’s on demand and not scheduled. I’m shocked 1/8” is too much for you?
@@TheLawnMentor so if I choose the solution only this is if I just want to use OtO for fertilizer only for a week or something like that?. When choosing this method to furtilize how long with a jug last? Will one water of 1/8 in use all of the jug? And yes I have planted new seed on some of my lawn and I find if I let OtO water it with 1/8 in it’s almost a lake where there is dirt
It sprays the solution quickly over the space. When mine waters and ferts on the same day, it does a quick pass to get the fert out and then adds a cycle of water on top of it to water it in. Does that make sense?
I understand where you're coming from. I too have an old lawn mixed with new cultivars of seed. hats off to you for taking on this task. looking forward to following the progress.
Really well put together update Kyle. This has the possibility of giving me the courage to do a full reno. I have the same challenges you do with old school and new school cultivars. Will be following closely 👍
Huck is a good neighbor can we swap? Agree it’s been a super hot dry summer. We were out of town for 5 days and it’s still fried with irrigation. Looking forward to your renovation 👌
@@TheLawnMentor hope all works out for you on the renovation! I’m working on my front yard as well this fall, I’ll be purchasing his new blend of seed. I loved the results I had with the old blend of TTTF on my backyard last year. Wishing you the best man!
Do you think OtO would work for a fall cold season grass overseed? Have you tested it using the lightest water setting? My concern is that the stream of water OtO puts out maybe too heavy for new seed. Thanks for the videos
I wouldn’t even waste time or money on the back yard. Get a soil test, nuke it, maybe grade the backyard, core aerate and renovate the entire yard this fall. Good luck
Did a complete renovation last year due to multiple different types of grasses. My advice would be to start killing it as soon as you can. After it’s dead, keep watering it and see if any weeds start to grow back and then nuke them again. Do this over and over as long as you can. One mistake I made last year and wish I would’ve started sooner

I don’t think so because the sun is on the back of the house. It’s super sandy

Correct it will only spray fert. How long a jug lasts depends on the size of your lawn space 👊🏻
@@TheLawnMentor Or when I choose the solution only option does it just use a demo zone spray to just cover every spot with solution quickly?
It sprays the solution quickly over the space. When mine waters and ferts on the same day, it does a quick pass to get the fert out and then adds a cycle of water on top of it to water it in. Does that make sense?

Oh man! Yikes! My backyard was to the point I wasn’t sure if it would bounce back at all but I think I caught it just in time.
I heard Pete changed his cultivars for the GCI TTF. Are the new cultivars good like the previous ones of Thor, Blacktail and Falcon IV?
This blend I bought is from early 2021…so I can’t remember when his supply switched over. We will find out !

Two weeks!
Good timing, you want to make sure the grassy weeds are good and dead.
Oh yeah. Probably kill them a couple times
That sounds like a great plan. Always good to get what you want 😁
I just want it all the same shade of green!
