Thank you for playing old timey radio on it!! I just got this for my significant other's birthday- he falls asleep to old 1930s radio shows. This is absolutely perfect.
That is a cool little radio. I recently found a full size late 80's General Electric reproduction am/fm cathedral style radio for $20 in almost new condition at a thrift store. It sounds awesome and the reception is excellent on both bands. It's made of real wood too. If you can find one in good shape you won't be disappointed.
That's a cool looking little radio. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds and the wooden casing looks neat too. Ideal for someone who wants something modern with a vintage and nostalgic look.
Just ordered this and im going to be using it for the same thing. I have a bunch of old time radio.shows on my phone and thats what im going to do with this
That`s a really nice looking radio....Really liked the 1930`s stuff you played through it.I am a volunteer on a Hospital radio station (Its a UK thing mostly),and have a slot on my show called the Golden Age of Radio...Normally play something from the 1940`s...This week i played String of Pearls,Glenn Millar....Think that was 1941....Mostly the rest of the show is 50`s,60`s,70`s music..Anyway Great sounding radio....I`d be tempted, but have got so use to DAB radio now..All the Best Ade
@@Recordology Unfortunately not...We were planning to go on line broadcasting,as do many such hospital radio organisations, but the idea was pulled at the last minute a couple of yrs ago by our committee for various reasons Our rather simple website is here...If you scroll down, there are photos at the bottom rugbyhospitalradio.co.uk/ Tis a great fun hobby, that hopefully cheers a few people up while in hospital....All good fun..Ade
Im probably going to get one of these to hopefully take the place of my old Thomas 1932 collectors series for my table radio ( we use it when we eat dinner)
Nice looking little thing with a nice clear sound. On the other hand that clear sound is actually what ruins it for me, 'cause seing such a thing immediately makes you expect that big warm teddybear sound the originals had, and when you don't get that.... But it sure looks nice. Great review.
Thanks for your reply..i live in Europe and am using a step down transformer to step down from 240v to 110v...however we use 50hz here instead of 60hz..is there a motor or fan in the radio which would be effected by the difference in hz..it's working fine up to now..thanks for any info
Good question - the knob was loose from the start and the display panel pushed in a bit - I would recommend the other ClearClick over this one - its build like a tank.... amzn.to/3dLABVz
Hello there, do you know of any of the cathedral replica's that are both powered by electricity and also can be battery operated in case of power failure? Id love to find myself one like that. Thank you.
..i would like to use this to listen to the famous Orson Welles 'War of the Worlds' broadcast from 1938...where would one be able to find the recording and transmit it to this vintage radio via bluetooth..?...thanks for any info..
You can buy an old radio that looks like that, but is actually old for like 50 buck from the thrift store, flee market or antiques shop. Put in some new caps, check the wires (another 10 buck), give it a paint job and it's up and running like new again. Like 60 bucks and it'll run for decades, but most importantly, you have a REAL piece of history in home.
Interesting BUT you would then be stuck listening to boring modern radio VS OTR on blutooth - unless of course if you invested in some sort of FM transmitter device.
@@Recordology yes indeed an FM dongle for plugging into the phone is only like 10 buck. Not that big deal to set up/use, and can be used with old car radios too! 👌
Hahaha. No, you can't get anything close to this for $60, not for the last 20 years. This is essentially a repro of the Philco Model 90 cathedral, one of the most iconic vintage radios of all time. You're looking at around $450 for a Model 90 radio needing restoration, up to $1,500 for recapped/cleaned/tubes and cabinet restoration.

The bright blue LED when it's connected to Bluetooth spoils the appearance. Otherwise it's not too bad.
Those blue lights are powerful lol. I did notice after the video that there is a small light for the dial tucked in there.

Believe it or not. I just ordered this radio just hours before I saw this video from Amazon. lol

I'm with you. I LOVE the vintage look, combined with modern technology. I just ordered a similar radio w/Bluetooth.

Awesome he’s advised it is pretty small… about 10” high
@@Recordology perfect size for the table and probably will work better after the Thomas has started to have issues with its volume control
Clever demo!
Thank you.....

cool retro radio
Where did you get the Vintage Radio App?

Awesome vintage radio!! What radio is the one behind you, 80s style glow stereo?

Thanks for your reply...so I suppose I would have to download it into my audio file first right...

That coil thing is the AM loop antenna.
I got to wondering about that.....thank you.
I have a 1937 phlico tube cathedral radio with am/sw sweet little radio
Does it have battery back up if you know?
is a rubber/silcon or cork static turn table cover the best? Do they help remove static?
Check this out..... I've used them all including carbon fiber......I prefer acrylic. th-cam.com/video/BdOs3NlDPBk/w-d-xo.html

I REALLY want this now. And I have the money, but my mom won't let me buy it 😭
Update. I GOT THE RADIO!!!!!! I got it a few months prior to writing this comment. It is AMAZING!
Is it's body wood imitation plastic or real thing?
Wood.

There are many websites and apps that have that recording - including youtube. Chet out Zoot Radio, OTR Cat and others as well.
Will this work properly in India ?
I would think so......not sure about the power requirements.
@@Recordology We have here 220/240 power supply.
Can you access the link to purchase? See what the power requirements are in there perhaps......Thank you for writing.
That's the AM antenna inside
I bet if you went to Parts Express you could find a much better quality 4ohm driver for around $20.
