I'm glad they brought back the AM radio tuner. Some of their previous all-in-one systems had an FM-only tuner.

Last time I checked amazon, they got rid of the am radios for the 8 in 1 models

    • @muzluv33

@@randomperson7443 Right. I bought this model back in July and it came with only FM though similar models other customers have ordered come with both
AM and FM. So I don't know why the difference but not a deal breaker as I rarely listen to AM and have another unit with AM.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed that mine only came in FM , it’s a nostalgia record player and ya skipped the Am??? I used to love sitting with my grandpa listening to AM radio together. It would’ve been so cool to relive those moments Everytime I think of him and miss him.

The best way to unpack it without destroying the box is to open the flaps, turn the thing over on the table/counter (making sure the flaps are still open), and then lifting the carton, letting the unit slide out. That way you have an intact carton to return it to the store if need be.

Somebody got this as a gift from a total stranger because they started their musical journey so I said how nice of a gift that was on his post. A guy posted below my post that he would advise against using the record player. I copied my original comment, deleted my original comment to remove his comment and pasted it to a new comment and then added that this tracks at 5 grams (which I got from this video) and if the needle is good and aligned properly, it will be fine playing your records on it. Somebody went out of their way to get this person the gift and the guy was over the moon happy about it and then that guy posted on mine. If he wanted to post on that on his own, that's his prerogative. I just didn't want that comment associated with mine in that instance because of people went out of their way. Normally I would have probably left that alone but this was such a special gift to him and thanks to you, I have more of an appreciation of people that are getting back into playing records because of these units. Thanks for your review on this. It helped me out in this instance.

I used to collect big band record as a late teen , although I didn’t have a record player yet. I adore touching the yesteryears gone by! It reminds me of being a child being so excited to play my children’s Christian agape music & very old Disney records! And it took me many years in my busy life to get one. My husband gifted me the mid century modern but I’ve always loved this style so I exchanged it & got this one. It was so fun to play records with my 13 yr old who was just over the moon excited to listen to the crackle of the records! We agree you can’t beat that wonderful sound and how it transports you back to some very special times. I think it’s always important to respect our musical history ( all history for that matter) I believe it enriches the soul a person and has an impact of greater appreciation for the generations of people past & present. ❤

The phono has a full-sized platter which is uncommon and very nice. Still I wish they could put a turntable with a pitch control feature in one of these. Heck, increase the dimensions and put a turntable in with linear tracking. WOW, I like to dream.

FYI - Victrola no longer makes the 600 B. The link that you have posted is no longer valid. It takes you to the VTA 750 or the VTA 750 B.
This one doesn’t record because it to USB anymore.
    It’s kind of stupid.
I spoke with somebody at the trailer and he said they just stop making it… And that’s it no explanation.

  • @tabv_v

got one of these as a christmas present 2-3 years ago annd still use it often. my main gripe with the turn table is : you have to use the standard replacement stylus, i'd bought the diamond stylus and it just immediately skated across any record i tried. the tracking force for the diamond replacements were rated under 4 grams and the lack of an adjustable counterbalance made it unusable with anything but. the default needles sound fine qualitywise but wear out quicker than i'm comfortable with (50hrs vs a diamonds 500). currently looking for offbrand needles that'll work well with it cause 20 bucks for (a 3pack) 150hrs adds up for a daily listener. it's not ideal for an 'audiophile hifi setup' but for someone whose picking through bins of used 4$ vinyl it's a stressfree way to enjoy records without the need for additional gear.
the biggest bummer for me is the cd player stopped reading discs about a year in, the majority of my collection was cds and it was the feature i'd used the most. not much of a big deal as i have plenty of systems/computers/dvdplayers that'd read cds just the same but i enjoyed the boombox-like convenience of it. my next gripe is the cassette player is 'temperamental;\ sometimes it works fine but more often than not the autostop will engage midway through a track, or the speed will slow down to a crawl and then auto stop. at first i thought it was my test tapes buut it's had the same effect on all the tapes in my collection, but neither of these are a deal breaker for me as i was mainly looking for a turntable.
my favorite feature tho : usb connectivity to a computer. for those stressed about wearing out records you only need to listen to them once while streaming the audio to your pc, ona pc you can record it in lossless wav or whatever you want. the entire unit functions as a microphone/line in option in windows so i'd commonly use it to stream music to my friends over discord/twitch/etc. can also listen back on computer so works for whatever headphones/stereo/etc your using at the time. overall : not as awful as reddit posts will make it out to be if your just looking for an easy record player, lacks an upgrade path but works fine regardless. buuut for those looking for a cd or tape player i'd advise some caution in terms of quality control

The only problem is that I have to wait until Friday to get my new needles lol. I accidentally bent it 😢. Sound quality is good. Redditors really hate Victrola for no reason, it’s a good starting point!

I've had my 8 in 1 for a little over two years. I added external plug in speakers as soon as I got the unit. Sound is pretty good, and better than sound through Victrola's built in speakers. It only turns on to the USB feature. I wish it turned on to the radio because if you don't have the remote nearby the usb is only thing turned on. If you don't have a usb inserted, and if you do, it will start at beginning always. So, if you have listened to it recently you will have to listen to the same songs you've already played. Not a big deal, but I'm going to see if I can wire it to power on with the radio. I have it hooked up to Alexa, and I have a radio station I like, but I can't get to it unless I have the remote with me.

I got this model from Amazon to play old Cassettes and records and it's cool I can now digitize records and tapes. the sound of the AM FM and tape player surprisingly good both radio bands tune very well when the antenna is at full length. I was a little surprised at the lack of bass and high treble from the built-in speakers (use powered speakers via the front headphone jack for best sound) bringing those mp3 files to Audacity and a good pair of powered speakers; they are quite good.

I bought the predecessor to this unit 4 years ago. But instead of a USB recorder (and a memory stick recorder on some models), it had a CD burner which recorded to an MP3 file (rather than a wave or lossless file). Unfortunately, the entire unit got fried by an electrical storm in which a lightning strike came too close to my house. Everything still worked except the amplifier, so I had function but no sound. And no stereo repair shop would touch it. Long story short, I replced the unit (an Aviator Signature) with a new Empire Mid-Century a couple of months ago. I lost AM radio, but the Phone, CD, and Tape are still there. And I think it actually sounds better than the older unit. Its lid also covers the turntable completely, so no dust can get in there while the turntable is not being used. All in all, a fair trade and a $75 savings in price.

Does this player have a way to re-balance the tone arm, adjust the tracking force, or anti-skate dial? I don’t see how to do that on this player. • @kalledisco
      @kalledisco 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you play a record normal, the tracking force should be around 1.75 to 2 gram.
On cartridge for DJ use, you can go up to 3 or 4 grams.
These cartridges that is made to track at higher trackingforces will damage your records. And records are not made to be played at 10 grams of trackingforce.
And Dolby is a noise reductionsystem, it is a electronic circuit. It has nothing to do with the type of tonehead in the cassette player.
If you want to play cassettes, go to a fleamarket or second handshop and buy a cassettedeck.

I'm not sure what their monetization process is like on product videos, but that's where I came from, looking for answers. (and you certainly provided them). Thanks for showing the back of the machine and showing that it comes with the RCA output cable already included in the package.

Reasonable quality and function for the price. The sound isn't " kick ass " punchy like an expensive stereo, but it's ok for listening in one room, kind of like what grandpa's record player sounded like 60 years ago. I'd be willing to pay a lot more money for a high end quality version but if you don't want to spend a lot of money, this is probably a good way to go for versatility and it's cool looking. Radio dial could use a back - light.

I have the VTA-750B model. My only dilemma is it doesn’t have auxiliary out ports. I want to be able to record from the Bluetooth on the victrola out into an 8 track recorder(I’m getting into 8 tracks as crazy as that seems). Is there any way to convert the input ports in the back of the unit into outputs???? It makes no sense to me that there is a single aux in port in the front and a left and right input in the back…..why no outputs??????

    • @Recordology
      @Recordology  3 ปีที่แล้ว

We have done videos on 8-track. I was a recent convert to 8-track as well. Unfortunately on this the headphone output jack at 80% volume (which approximates line level) is your best bet.

    Hi !
Is there a way to do an External Speakers "Option" without using the Headphone Jack ?
I'd _prefer_ a connection mounted on the rear of the cabinet, but can't find anything other than the headphone jack on the front. I suppose I _could_ dig into the unit and hard wire a set of output connections with an interrupt or maybe an "Output Selector Switch" , but I'd REALLY prefer not to have to ... .
The 2 RCA Plugs on the back SEEM to be for input, which seem kinda silly- as anything else's "out" would LIKELY use the AUX-Out connection with the Victrola's Aux-in provided on the front, which itself kinda makes sense- as anything you'd temporarily quick-connect would benefit from this arrangement.
Still- an un-amplified source _might_have RCA- Outs using an RCA - _in_ connection on the Victrola, I guess, but anything you'd add-on using the RCA connections would _LIKELY_ benefit from the same improved external speakers you'd want to connect to improve the Victrola's own sound output and I'm HOPING for something better than "Headphones Out" .
I haven't _TRIED_ the rear RCA connections _"in"_ , as I don't have anything wanting an RCA Connection at its own output, even tho I DO have my 5.1 Living Room Speakers in-connected to my TV output's Fibre Optic - Out connection, but the 5.1 set DOES have a 2nd pair of _inputs_ for RCA - L/R which COULD if the Victrola's rear RCA's were OUT instead of IN .
    Thoughts ?
NONE of my stuff is anywhere above SOLID mid-range (with the Victrola _itself_ being my only relatively Low-End "Compromise" - Sill (so _far_ ) I'm QUITE happy with it (!) - but I _GUESS_ if I went "Hi-End" I could get "Everything I _want_ " _;=)) !_
    -
    Nice work, btw.
All the _BEST_ from Texas ! -
    C.

It’s tough because they change little nuances with these products… So some of them have audio outputs and some don’t. But I can tell you that even connected to a large stereo system anything with a ceramic cartridge is going to sound mediocre at best compared to a higher end system with a Magnetic cartridge

I just got this a few days ago. I don't know if anyone else bought there's from Amazon, but I did notice that it didn't come with the extra needles, the USB drive or cleaning cloth. Anyway, aside from that, I know what most of the buttons do, but can't seem to find the record button and would rather not have to attach my computer via cable. I'm totally blind, and still have to find out whether that software is accessible on either my mac or windows computer. The easiest thing for me to do would be to use a thumb drive I have and record to MP3. Is the record button one of the round ones, and if so, can you tell me which one? Simply by stating whether it's the first one or 2nd one from the right, or first one from the left. I've already tried playing a record or 2 on it. Seems to like old vinal better than new because my new vinal record skipped quite a bit. Sorry for the long comment and thank you for your help. :)

Lower the 5 grams weight on the tonearm, to 3.5 grams; this should end the sudden abrupt start of the record skipping past the lead in groove, and less dynamic bass skips while the record is playing; thank you and God bless us.
