    • @howlingwaters2741

      @luke184lisa Moissanite is its own gem. The discovery by Henri Moissan in a meteorite led to the synthesis of the mineral Silicon Carbide. (SiC) Diamonds are carbon😊
      I have both. Moissanite is fiery, full of beautiful color, and has over 2.5 x light dispersion than diamond.
      An excellent cut, colorless, 2+ carat HPHT LGD is an achievable dream.
      I will say that the fire, brilliance, and color of Moissanite had me spoiled before I received my LGD🤩

It’s funny to me when people incorrectly think lab diamonds are “synthetic” - that’s like saying a baby grown in a lab isn’t a baby when it’s all said and done. They absolutely are.

      Lab diamonds are synthetic, because they are synthesized through chemical synthesis. Natural diamonds are also synthetic, but they were synthesized naturally through the effects of gravity (heat and pressure).
      Definition of synthesis:
      a
      : the composition or combination of parts or elements so as to form a whole
      b
      : the production of a substance by the union of chemical elements, groups, or simpler compounds or by the degradation of a complex compound
      c
      : the combining of often diverse conceptions into a coherent whole
      also : the complex so formed

    • @LeahElisheva
      @LeahElisheva 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@mikehawk1441 I know. But in the diamond world, synthesized diamond means something that looks like a diamond, but has different chemical properties. Like moissanite.
      On the other hand, lab created diamonds are of the same chemical composition as raw diamonds.

    We went with a lab grown for my wife's 10th anniversary present. 100% no brainer. It's 4x less the money for the exact same thing. Or for the same price you get so much more diamond! It's such a crazy thing thinking diamonds are an investment, minded or lab grown. Investments should gain value over time. I think I would differ. The whole point of the diamond business is rarity. Natural diamonds are rarer (can be debated) than the lab grown ones. So naturally, it will be expensive. Its like buying an authentic Rembrant and a oil color printed version of Rembrant. To the eyes and quality, it seems same and its artistic value is the same as well. But one would wonder, why someone pays millions for an authentic Rembrant and just a few bucks for the printed version?

      But the diamond business.... You mean like the jewelry, gem quality diamond. The entire diamond business as a whole has a lot to do with industrial grade diamonds. That is where lab diamonds really shine.
      BTW sadly, about art... It comes to blue chip art... And people only pay your millions for your Rembrandt with a "d" because it is an investment to them, nothing more. Rich fools drive up the prices just to have items that have perceived value. Then when they get old they can auction it off at Christies

    So nice to see someone say Diamonds are NOT an investment. This is absolutely true for a VAST majority of Engagement ring buyers. Regardless of whether it's a Lab or Mined diamond, you will Absolutely lose money trying to re-sell. And IMO it will be at LEAST a 50% loss for a mined diamond...usually it's closer to a 60-75% loss. And for a Lab diamond, retailers say there is no value in them whatsoever, and therefore no market for them. All lies, A jeweler/retailer will absolutely tell you your lab diamond is worth nothing, and just try to pay you for the metal...Then turn around sell that Lab diamond for as close to Lab market value or above if he/she can get it. ESPECIALLY if the diamond is a well cut certified Lab diamond with paperwork.

    I bought 1.00 ct lab grown diamond with IGI certified. E color, ideal cut, VS1 only $1000. It tests diamond, it looks beautiful as a diamond. I save a lot of money. If you buy natural diamond for the same range may be you pay around $8000 dollars when you sell it back you will lose at least 35-40% from what you purchased. So, what is the deal for natural diamond?

    Mostly all diamonds you buy will be worth a fraction when you sell them.
    Stones under 0,50 carat are included in the scrapgold weight price of the Jewel.
    Only the real big stones can make chance to be sold for a reasonable price.

    I must agree, mostly in this case and primarily because the context of this discussion is about Diamond Jewelry.
    While I do agree with you for the most part that Diamond Jewelry is not a very solid Monetary Investment because as wearable items, they’re Emotional Investments, not only when purchased for loved ones but also when purchased for one’s own self as an Boastful Expression of personal success in the economy.
    I still disagree with parts of your take on Monetary Valuation in regard to Lab-Grown vs. Earth-Mined specimen. Let’s not say that what you’ve explained is wrong, rather that it is incomplete and exclusionary.
    Now, let’s add the concept Collateral Leverage to the equation and incorporate the understanding that when discussing the Worth/Value of any AIV one should never exclude opportunities or risks inasmuch as the future remains indeterminate until it is reached.
    When determining valuing AIVs it is important to remember that what we’re attempting to do is Determine the Indeterminable to reach a final sum Probability Rate of Return and for that reason it becomes as important to discuss more than just Resale Value in cases of Emergency, which we can refer to as the risk and also include the Appraisal Value in cases of Leveraged Collateral, which we can refer to as the opportunity.
    Bottom line here is that if you’re prudent in evaluating your investment opportunities you can chose to purchase anything worthy of an Appraisal and Collateralize the Value for the purchase or making further investments and Lab-Grown Diamonds will not be Appraised to be as Valuable as ones which were Earth-Mined.
    I still agree with what you’ve said, but not with what you’ve concluded based on what you’ve omitted within the context of that narrative.

      If there is a clarity enhancement, some methods fall apart in high heat. Like if you were going to re-polish your gold ring/re-dip it for luster. Color enhancement shouldn't be effected the same way as clarity enhancement.

    Most consumer diamonds (earth grown) that are purchased aren’t going to hold their value with the onset of lag grown diamonds. They don’t even hold their value now.
    Unless you want to drop 40k on a massive rock as an investment the you won’t ever get a price increase when you sell your diamond.

      You are correct, this is not a monetary investment. Honestly, they never held their value even before lab diamonds arrived. • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am unsure on the percent of diamonds this is happening too. Might be the quality of tester as well. Apparently it can be due to the thermal conductivity of the diamond and HTHP can cause a misreading. You know you are buying a certified lab diamond, what are the odds of someone testing your diamond. I understand your concern but I also wouldn't be too concerned either.

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to hear my videos have been helpful. There are large chats about this topic. Gold is seen as a very long term investment. But more from the pure gold bullion buying. Not retail products as they always have a markup. Like a gold chain has the value of gold to make it plus the retail value of it being hand made. So it can be triple the price of the value of gold.

      Would you say Middle-Eastern gold is a great investment? I noticed gold in America or Europe, mostly sell 14k or 18k but quality is different than Arab countries' gold. I understand that it can be due to mixing the raw medals to the gold, using high quality vs low rated medals.

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gold,no matter what origin, will be priced to its value weather it’s 14 karat 10 karat 18 karat or 24 karat the value will always be the same. The only difference is you will be paid out a different price point depending the karat. If one ounce of pure 24 karat gold is valued at $1800 you will not be receiving that value if you bring a diluted 10k gold chain.

    • @joepiekl

      I'm in Malaysia at the moment, and over here, the gold shops have the current gold price listed on the wall. When you buy something, they basically weigh it and charge you that price plus a designer's fee, which is usually pretty low. But if you go to the jewellers in the mall, they just have a price for the item, so I assume there's a much bigger markup compared to the price of the gold itself.
