You couldn't be more wrong, millions of people live of this industry, from miners in Africa to polishers in India to dealers all over the world, as opposed to a handful of manufacturers that will monopolise the lab grown industry, think outside the box, i know it's hard sometimes.

@@samyezzeddine7436 what was I wrong about? I never said the diamond industry wasn’t huge, of course it employs many people because the prices of diamonds and profit margins are obnoxious. And if you think the earth mined diamond industry is a not monopoly, you don’t know what you are talking about. Debeers controls the market.

@@williamsvohong2981 the marketing campaign for diamonds has people thinking that typical diamonds are rare and therefore command ridiculous prices. A typical 1-2 ct G -H color VS stone are a dime a dozen, yet they cost thousands of dollars and guys are forced to buy them for their wedding and engagement rings.

    • @samyezzeddine7436

@@RodSherwood1 Actually for a while already they're on the background with Alrosa, BHP, Rio Tinto and several other big players owning a big part of the production these days. Alos prices are based on supply and demand and are analysed and indicated by Martin Rapaport not De Beers. The reason they don't flood the market with diamonds is to keep this supply and demand chain on par as not to harm businesses and individuals that own stock or personal diamonds. U wouldn't supply the world with double the amount of iphones either cause it will brick their prices. DeBeers hasn't had any big marketing campaigns for a while now and if u just look at what they've meant for the economic growth of Botswana and its people you would think more objectively.
I buy rough diamonds for a living and I support many small scale mining operations in Africa that give opportunity to people less fortunate than you who aren't protected by social security and need this industry to get by in life. Unlike what people still tend to perceive as a business based on tyranny and despair as it was during the time in Sierra Leone when the rebels used diamonds to buy weapons. Apart from those people there are thousands of offices, polishing factories, certificate centers, etc that employ hundreds of thousands of people. So yeh I think I'm good in the way I perceive the reality, it's just a make money quick scam by jewellers who make 80% on lab growns iso 20% on natural with a much lower investment. You're the one getting scammed in the end cause they're worthless the moment u leave the shop. Enjoy your plastic

It isn’t a price collapse.. it’s coming down to what the price should realistically be at. Diamond prices are kept artificially high by controlling supply. Edit: just to be clear, Diamonds are NOT 'rare' - barring a few exceptional finds - this is a myth invented by the major diamond companies to get you to subconsciously attach a high worth to these stones.

What in demand is real gold 22k or 24 k. So, Im kinda shock when I went to Europe to find out that gold jewellery there is low in gold content, mostly 18 k but price highly because of diamond. The real reason why the price of diamonds is going down is that people are starting to understand that the diamond is the most common of the precious stones. There are a lot more diamonds than coloured stones like rubies, sapphires etc. The reason the diamonds WERE so expensive is because their marketing was cornered by the De Beers company who had imposed a strict monopoly. The way it works is some influential person either creates or buys a bunch of really cheap crypto, then shills it on social media which then convinces their fans to buy into it. This buying action then drives up the price which initiates another buying frenzy by people looking to make a quick buck. The influential person then dumps all their crypto, selling it as fast as possible, making millions and crashing it's price. People then start selling off as fast as possible to make back as much money as they can before it completely crashes. The end result is that wealth is simply transferred from the less fortunate masses to the now even richer influential person.

I started by buying Tanzanite twenty five years ago. In 1985 I worked in Kansas City and would walk by Tiffany's every day. They had the most beautiful stones in the window that were a dark purple blue color. I couldn't afford them but I never forgot them. In the early nineties I found a source for those beautiful stones so I started buying a piece at a time. I started educating myself about gemstones in general. I learned that diamonds were not a good investment but if I could buy gemstones only found and mined in one location that as the mines were running out of the supply the prices would increase dramatically. If you look at history when people were displaced and had to leave their country they would sew gold, silver, and gemstones into their clothing and use this to make a new start. Gemstones should be part of everyone's investment strategy. Thank God that's still a secret most people don't know!

Colored stones, and i mean good quality natural colored stones mentioned above are increasing in price ridiculous per year due to actually being rare. It’s tough because most retail items obviously will have a loss, especially depending where you buy. For example, somewhere like Tiffany’s is going to have a large markup I would say color gems, maybe. But again most pieces of jewelry is not investment and often times diamond value is there however, the best way to get rid of your goods is through private sales. Anything sold back to a jeweler/pawn will be at a large discount. The issue is most people don’t have the time to wait for a private and the more strange/unique your jewelry is the longer it will take to find a private.

There are so many great options now, that were not available even 10 years ago...moissanite and lab grown diamonds. Along with my favorite which is Brazilian earth mined diamonds that are heat treated to bring out clarity and color for a fraction of the cost...they are stones that come out of Brazil and are cut and processed of course in India. They are usually sold only in Silver rings not gold to keep costs down but the rocks themselves are true earth-mined diamonds. :)

I bought these and they are beautiful and very reasonably priced. I have a large blue diamond hpht treated and it's gorgeous 😍

Just get a CZ if it’s that bad man. There are real diamonds and that other fake stuff. Don’t be fooled. Would you buy an American machine made Ferarri. Exactly, because if it’s not handmade in Italy 🇮🇹 it’s not a Ferrari. It doesn’t matter what engine/process you use, a pig is just a 🐷. 😊😊😊

@@2020Dreamlife A cz is definitely not a diamond. Czs scratch much easier and don't sparkle like a diamond. The price of hpht diamonds is so low right now, it's not much more than a cz. A real diamond will last much longer and has a higher refractive index. Lab diamonds and natural diamonds look exactly the same.

When lab grown gets ultra saturated, naturals will start garnering collectable prices

I wondered when this was going to happen. But do Lab Diamonds hold their value as well as natural diamonds? I think it is great for those who want to buy diamonds at a better price point

No, anything that is man-made and mass produced has close to no value in my opinion, but they are a nice alternative that can save money and no difference between Natural or Lab

A diamond will give you something back if it’s a good size, color and clarity but you’ll get nothing from a lab other than the value of the metal.

Colored stones like ruby and saffire and emerslds are holding value the y are rare. Therd are lab grown versions to be had very cheaply and are easy to tell looking under a loupe.

What I am seeing in Australian retailers is they try to sell tiny poor quality lab diamond jewellery for 80% mined diamond jewellery prices. Really shouldn't happen but if people are unwise enough to pay for it, the inflated diamond prices will stay.

Labgrown will be a godsend for the industrial market place for sanders and abrasive uses. That can be no bad thing.
It is hard to see a way back for natural diamonds.....The forthcoming over supply of 'lab grown gems' will make them accessible to one and all.
One might speculate that larger quality Natural Diamonds that are pre Labgrown (circa 2012 ?) might retain value in terms of antiquity....but once you have your wallpaper pasted with diamonds or have your car wrapped in them - the one on your finger might seem rather feeble....and worse: CHEAP!

I understand that lab diamonds are certainly cheaper to procure. But do they hold their value as well as the natural diamonds ? If you have a need to re-sell the lab versions, that’s probably where you get a rude awakening, where buyers expect to get it for next to nothing.

    • @OsirisDiamonds

The problem is natural diamond resale is also horrific. It’s a lose lose.

@@OsirisDiamonds I agree that these are not "investments" as such, and there will be loss in value over time. But the artificial version will drop like a rock, while the natural version's drop will not be anywhere as steep.
