Tom Hanks stars in The 'Burbs, a comedy about a suburbanite whose plans for a peaceful vacation at home are disturbed by a creepy new family on the block. Much to the disappointment of his wife (Carrie Fisher), Ray Peterson (Hanks) and his three neighbors set out to investigate the next-door residence after they begin to observe strange happenings. Set in an average neighborhood that is anything but ordinary, The 'Burbs blends slapstick comedy and spine-thrilling mystery and is superbly directed by cult filmmaker Joe Dante (Piranha, Gremlins, Matinee, The Howling).

Absolutely an all time favorite of mine. I used to get home from school and watch this every single day for like a whole year lol. I knew every single line of the movie. Love The Burbs. So underrated!

I knew a guy in high school and we would exchange lines whenever we saw each other. We'd be in the hallway and shout stuff like: "What are ya gonna do next, tap my phoneline?" and he'd respond with "That can be arranged." No one caught onto what we were talking about. Miss those days!

This is one of my favorite comedies of my lifetime. Absolutely perfect cast of actors and perfect character archetypes. I always recommend it when someone asks for a suggestion.

and these movies were so much better than we've had for the past 10 years it's unreal.... Dante is such an imaginative director..this flick is just a beautiful example of a movie!
I wouldn't mind seeing the girls' tits, but yeah, it's got just about everything.

True, but they didn't give as much away about the plot as they do today. I'd rather have the movie be better than the trailer tbh ha. At least I know if I don't like a film I won't say well the trailer gave a summary of the movie so Ik I wouldn't like it...
@@kirstenn1577 I still remember, around 2000, my Mom was complaining that trailers were giving away *too* much information. Anything that's good about the movie is spoiled that way. Why would I want to watch the movie, if I already know all of the highlights?

I watched this movie today for probably the 100th time 😂 I just love it! Late 80s comedy with a bit of mystery and scares thrown in. Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, and the late Carrie Fisher are brilliant in this movie and the very creepy and sinister Henry Gibson. 👍

I loved this as a child, looking back I can see how these films influenced me (Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Goonies, Spaceballs…). I love Tom Hank’s buddy, I used to emulate him, & Bill Murray.

A great underrated Hanks film that I am happy has finally been acknowledged as a cult classic. Of course it’s not as good as Big his best movie and comedy in my opinion but this is still a fun and funny little movie that all Hanks fans MUST see. His second best comedy after Big and one of his best in my opinion.

I usually drop everything and watch this movie whenever it airs on television. I notice a new detail every time, such as the streets always being wet due to runoff from over-watered lawns.

I got a neighbor that everyone calls the Klopeks, there house is a shit-hole and all we know is that there's 2 dudes living there. One works nights and the other is never seen. Some say theres others that lives in the house but we are not sure. I got their Mail and took it over there and knocked on the door, I saw the one dude that everyone sees and when that door opened a smell came out like I never smelled before. My neighbor across the street asked me what it was like going over there, I'm not sure with so much going thru my mind.

I watched this movie tonight and i thought it was a good movie it had a good cast good story and it made me laugh a couple times worth seeing if your a fan of tom hanks
a perfectly hilarious comedy that have a bit of all: crime, paranoia, and the most madly dark humour, another jewel of comedy, when a neighborhood become in all battlefield thanks to a suspicion, definitely one must be careful with the neighbors sometimes, they can be a complete legion of lunatics, HA HA HA.

I'm so great to be then historical society at the great Tom Hanks one of my greatest movie stars ever that I've been keeping up with and keeping track of and watching his movies since I remember this movie came out when I was 19 and had an favorite and mine since I can Begin p and John candy and Dan aykroyd you three have pretty much been my favorite I haven't changed thank you so much Tom Hanks forever my favorite actor comedian actor all that there is nothing I think you can't do that's what people say about me I'd love to keep every friendship I can personally close to me and said my dad died in my arms for lung cancer after I held him in my hand for three weeks until cancer took him just want you to know friends are real and we are out
