"A wholly enjoyable mixture of action, comedy, romance and horror." - Scott Weinberg, eFilmCritic.com
Kurt Russell stars as Jack Burton, a tough-talking truck driver whose life goes into a supernatural tailspin when his best friend’s fiancée is kidnapped in John Carpenter’s Big Trouble In Little China. Jack suddenly finds himself in a murky, danger-filled world beneath San Francisco’s Chinatown, where Lo Pan, a 2,000-year-old magician, mercilessly rules an empire of spirits. Facing down a host of unearthly terrors, Jack battles through Lo Pan’s dark domain in a full-throttle, action-riddled ride to rescue the girl. Also starring James Hong, Kim Cattrall and Dennis Dun, this special effects-filled spectacle is a non-stop thrill ride to an incredible finish!

The most criminally underrated movie ever!
Tralman1965 I never met anyone who hated it and if I did, I would never talk to them again lol
Couldn’t agree more.
@ListenAndLearned it bombed on initial release though
Definition of a cult classic! I'll watch this whenever its on....seen it at least 20-25 times
It's a cult classic not really underrated anymore
Such a great movie ! I watched this movie a lot as a kid in the 80’s . I wish we had more adventures with Jack burton
There are some comics
I watched this a bunch as a kid too. Because of that I've always viewed this as a kids movie
One of John Carpenter's best movies
Agreed!
@@Asian_Movie_Enthusiast dude I love your channel and content
@@jonathanmulondo9206 - Thanks!
Jonathan Mulondo my favorite movie of all time.
Frankie Bizzarro my favorite John Carpenter’s movie of all time.
One of the best films from the 80’s ever made!
I expected just a decent movie, I got a hardcore work of alternative art. Incredible stuff.
Can we all stop and take a moment to reflect on how cool the 80s and 90s were? One of John Carpenter's best movies is/was a beloved childhood classic. No other era like it.
This trailer told us nothing about wtf this movie is about.
10/10
Which only made the film better!
Still an entertaining trailer
Absolutely. So many trailers summarize the whole plot and leave no surprises for if you actually go and see it.

One of the greatest all time classic movies! I had this on VHS in the 80’s, must’ve watched it 100 times easily, my brothers, cousins and all our friends still quote this movie whenever we see each other
I lost count how many times I watched this film as a kid. One of my favorite movies.
Same i had this on vhs recorded off of hbo in the 90’s lol. Goonies, critters all on the same vhs lol
@@mylifefornicknow that’s a collection!
John Carpenter plus Kurt Russell equals movie gold!!!!
“Have you paid your dues, Jack?!”
Yesssiir, the check is in the mail!!
This movie doesn't get the credit it deserves. I remember watching it on tv every time it was on, the lightning scenes drew me in. The special effects at that time were amazing.
Possibly the BEST movie EVER made! Definitely Carpenter's best.
Seriosly? He did Halloween and The thing and you pick this as his best movie? No way.
@@magicalwisp1489 Not just Carpenter's Best, but the BEST movie EVER made, certainly the most original. I LOVE IT!
@@magicalwisp1489
I love your Kaneda display pic. Akira is one of the best films for me.
@@ThisLeprechaunWrites Halloween was original when it came out. It started the whole slasher genre
@@brucelucasjr5856 Not really, Peeping Tom and Psycho were the slashers that started the slasher genre.
Wish mordern movie trailers had these type of voice overs
It's funny since nowadays they're just young teenager voiced characters. People acting like kids nowadays are sometimes cool in my opinion but most of it in a way doesn't feel okay.
I swear the guy that did the voiceover for this is the same guy that did all the trailers for the coolest movies in the 80's. Watching this trailer was awesome, this movie is awesome amd the 80's was fckin awesome!!
This was one of my greatest experiences as a kid in the 80’s underrated and such a great movie
Seeing this makes me realise how genius it was to cast Kurt Russell as Chris Pratt's father in GOTG they both are virtually alike in their comedic mannerisms
That slick talking DNA
I'm still blown away that this movie inspired the Mortal Kombat series.
And TMNT.
Tyler Pitman ... errr.... TMNT were created in March of 1984. This movie was released in 1986. So... not so much did it inspire TMNT.
It only inspired Raiden
@@leoNE743 And Shang Tsung's throne room.
Negative, there was some characters that inspired by this film (Rayden) but Mortal Kombat was actually inspired by the film, Master of the flying guillotine. There's a ton of things in that movie that Mortal kombat ripped off, I even suspect that the fatalities was one of em.
This is one of all-time favourite movies!! I never get tired of watching this!!!
This is just more prof that the 80's were absolutely glorious. I've seen this over a dozen times over the years. Thankfully I now have it on DVD. Thank you.
One of the greatest adventure movies ever - Loved this as a kid and still do :)
They don’t know how to make em like this anymore. It was such a fun cool unexpected movie, when I saw it as a young teenager I was blown away! Now today it just looks great too ❤
Probably my favourite movie of all time it's just great
Love this movie. I've always admired Kurt Russell as an actor and I think it is very cool that he was okay with playing a sidekick who thinks he's numero uno. I think that a lot of big time actors would have had a hard time accepting the part as intended.
James Hong (the guy who played Lo Pan in this movie) was 57 when this movie released. Fast forward almost 40 years later, the guy is 94 years old and had a major role in an Oscar winning movie. For comparison, That's as if Ben Stiller is alive and stars in an Oscar winning movie in 2060. Truly incredible
James Hong went to a comic convention dressed as Lo Pan in 2024 at 93. Legend.
One of the greatest and most underrated films of all time.
1. The Thing
2. Escape from New York
3. Big Trouble in Little China
Russell x Carpenter films
My faves
I love all those, and escape from l.a. as well. Those two make magic every time they are together. Although I know i have a minority opinion on l.a. Lol.
1. The thing
2. Big trouble
3. Escape from NY
Don’t forget Elvis. Damn good tv film from 1980 I think? First JCxKR team up.
The Thing is def number 1
@@johnbooth9957 ya you right
Jack Burton, the hero we always needed.
Jack Burton is a reasonable guy who has just experienced some very unreasonable things... and he just wants his truck back and $1148 Bucks times two!
P.S. “It’s All In The Reflexes”
Such a classic I loved this movie when I was kid, still do
Back when movies are original, creative, and well made. No reboots, no sequels, and no solo films.
Fun Fact: Dwayne Johnson is doing a Reboot/Sequel of this movie (facepalm)

"Cash or charge?"
"Oh, gosh! Cash, I guess. I mean it's not deductible, is it?"
The 80's ROCKED!
Hal Douglas's voice was amazing back in the 80s and 90s
"They told him to go to hell... and that's just where he's going."
One of Hal's best!
My Dad took me to see this at the theater when I was 10. Still one of my favorite movies to this day.
I lost count how many times i see this movie
Me too.
Me too.
Does it matter ?
No :)
I love this movie, watched it a million times
Kurt Russell doing John Wayne with some of the best lines in movie history. Brilliant😊
"May the wings of liberty never lose a feather." This movie rules.
One of my top 3 movies of all time. They played this a lot on tv back in the day…
i bet this inspired raiden from mortal kombat.
byrd 1343 1:09-1:11 I know, right?
It did and Lo Pan inspired Shang Tsung
`1nfamous Soldier except, lo Pan didn’t steal the souls.
@@nathancruz9172 Hence the word inspired. Doesn't mean exact.
you are correct...the creators of MK admitted that they came up with Raiden after watching this movie
This, the Goonies, Sylvester, Arnold and Jackie were my childhood... Different times

Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite John Carpenter's movie ever too so much.
I love how that guy invented fidget spinners at 1:07
Every time I watch that scene I think about the actor who had to wear those. One false hand movement would probably result in a few broken fingers
One of the best movies I’ve ever seen!!
I remember seeing this in a rerun in the late 90s - my first b-movie ever. Still is my favorite.
I would had loved to see jack in more different adventures.
Definitely!
Great trailer, the voice over guy knocks it out of the park!
Why can’t there be movies like this nowadays without being intentionally ironic.
My favorite movie of all time. I think I've seen in more than 100 times.
Such a pivotal part of my 80's childhood. A++ Highly recommend!
Wonderful movie..... memory of my childhood ❤
I love this movie so much. My dad watched it when he was a kid.
Legendary movie. Surprisingly the trailer actually shows a lot of key moments, you just have no idea the importance of them until seeing the movie.
Jack Burton is my hero.
As I grew up I never stopped loving this movie. I know you know exactly why that is to.
Omg, omg, omg, I had this on VHS watched it so much the friking tape wore out, this was a typical 80s movie. Amazing

This movie is the best I remember buying an og copy in British Columbia back when I was 11 a couple years back it looked cool told my parents I wanted to see it they let and they now let me see all their eras movies this has a place in my heart
Easily one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time, I make it a point to watch it every year. Someone please tell me why people say this movie is racist?
the fact that they havent told u and / or u didnt notice why, mean it isn't racist. This movie isn't racist and at least i told you why it isn't. So stop worrying about why it is.
This movie was a piece of cinema art.
Probably my favorite John Carpenter movie.
Bring back the '80's!
if you measure movie with repeating tome of watching, remembering every scene, or dialog this is
one of the best movies.
this movie seems to be high praise, and its something ive never seen, if its that criminally underrated i must watch it, i do love me a good kurt russel action flick
Epic film with Snake Plissken!

Great line in the trailer it’s where big trouble was waiting for Jack Burton
Quite possibly the best movie ever made.

TH-cam shove every commercial you show BEFORE trailers deep within your bowels
a pearl of the 80s
They don't make movies like this anymore. The 80"s had some classics when it comes to movies
Who still watches this movie in 2021?
I love this movie what a ride!
So Good. 😎
An Absolute Cult Classic. 💙
Box Office unsuccessful? Hollywood critics showed little to no applause for one of the ALL TIME GREATS ?!?!? Wow you cant get much better of a movie that had something for everyone, comedy, action, sci fi..So many movies are so easily sleepable in a theatre - this wherever you watched it had the most creative suspense bringing cool character after cool character! Todays movies and their dishwasher trailers dont even come close!
A cult classic by an amazing director: John Carpenter.
I hired this out from the local video store a few times such a great film .
One of my favorite movies to this today ⛩⛩
