Cool whisky fair coverage Whisky Baron! I also love going to these type of events as you mentioned because you will meet some interesting drams and people. Very envious of the 34 yr old Laphroaig sample dram!
Jake, just love how you engage with the reps. You always give them dignity. Btw, The Lakes Whiskymaker Reserve 5 is one of the best sherried whiskies I've had in awhile. Cheers my friend!
Ah, thanks Bill. Most of the reps are sound as anything and they’re all filling your glass gratis so it’s hard to complain! I can’t say I’ve tried it but having sampled this 6 I’ll keep my eyes open for one. Sláinte bud
Just catching up with this video Jake and found it very informative. I like your asking off the cuff questions about certain things,as theres a few things i didnt known. I liked the DS whisky inparticular and knowing abit more about Kosher whisky.Ive seen this brand,so will buy a bottle at some point.Off to Campbeltown at the end of the month,so looking forward to it.Keep doing what youre doing, your content is 1st class.
ah, thanks for watching Barry and so glad you enjoyed it. Definitely seek out some DS Tayman, they've got some awesome whiskies. sounds like you won't be short of awesome whiskies in Campbeltown though - enjoy sir! sláinte
Great event it seems, Jake, thanks for sharing it...I was a bit frustrated though, less than one minute for the Prima & Ultima tasting ! (I'm sure they asked you to shot down the camera quickly, but pardon me a "million pounds question", as it is my favorite distillery, but how was that Port Ellen 1980 ??? (compared to those you've had before), thanks in advance....PS: Very cool that they have food inside the same space (if I understood well), because it is what is missing imho in almost all our big spirits events here in Paris...
so were we - we were swiftly asked to switch the cameras off in there, so anything you see is a bonus. the PE was outstanding - I was perhaps overly reverend with it when I found out it's £10k a bottle. I think my favourite of the bunch was the Talker though. ye, we normally get small but fairly poor nibbles but this was unmatched - definitely get down to The Whisky Event if you can
I’d LOVE to get my hands on the Lakes Elements! I’m so interested in such a careful variable-controlled range that isolates the cask wood! Does anyone else provide a sample kit like that?
I don't know of any other brand that offers something of the same level. very well thought out indeed with excellent control levels and really high quality casks selected - I'd highly recommend getting yourself a set!
@@TheWhiskyBaron Yes heard that from a few different sources. Was great when you could just turn up have a cocktail in the bar and see 90% of what the tour shows you . No more apparently, you don't get it if you don't have a tour booked now.
@@benmarnoch4111 that’s a real shame. It’s a great brand and obviously they don’t need to work on building their following further, however, IMO they should still be welcoming to new comers!
absolutely - I was there, wasn't I! most shows are open to the public for at least one day. tickets to this were paid for (I can't remember the exact price but very reasonable) and there were additional extras like the tasting with Colin which was undoubtedly the best £100 I've spent so far in 2023

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Such a great day and some truly incredible drams. Hopefully see you at another show soon 🥃🥃
What an incredible event this was. Can’t wait for next years!
me too! we need to spend some more time at the buffet next time though

Consider dropping a detailed vlog on that prima and ultima tasting 🔥
Such a shame we were asked to stop filming. We’re hoping to get Colin involved in some content but we’ll consider having a chat about it separately

ping us an email and we'll do our best to assist!
34 y laphroaig must have been a real treat !
just a bit! very generous of Charlotte to call us over for it as everything was closing down

Yeh it dawned on me Edrington ARE part Japanese owned! perhaps explaining their success?
I think it definitely helps bolster their brands internationally
Rumours are that Suntory paid for the new Macallan distillery, which you now can't just turn up on spec and get into anymore.
oh really? we managed to get in having just turned up, but maybe it's starting to change now. I'll have to look into this

Where's Tintin?
lost in the crowd - obviously felt more like where's Wally on this occasion!
Is this event open to plebs like me?. I don't own a shop, distillery or a bottling plant.

£100 looks like a steal for what was on offer.
@@Innovate22 absolute bargain!
Since when was Laphroaig part of Edrington. It’s Japanese owned. Hang on Suntory own a chunk of Edrington shares.
This comment was like a rollercoaster mate. Glad to witness you experience the full range of human emotion in less than a paragraph!
